Jeb and Suzanne, I'm a retired airline pilot. Yes we get specialized training to fly into certain airports that might have difficult arrivals or departures. Sometimes, Captain only landing or takeoff. FYI
Queenstown, New Zealand is also a 'captains only' airport due to the surrounding mountains and variable weather. Stunning scenery though for all passengers!
@@bobsellars2395 I hope to be able to visit NZ one day. It's on my bucket list for sure! The pictures I've seen. I had friends that were crew on Air NZ that showed me such beauty in pics!
@@michae8jackson378 The real thing is even better than pics! Covid stopped our overseas travel so we spent the last two years going to a lot of places in New Zealand we had never been too. Didn't appreciate how scenic NZ is, even for a local.
@@bobsellars2395 that's awesome! I have to get to Australia and NZ. I must stand on center court at Aussie open tennis. I used to be a good player. I've stood on Centre Court at Wimbledon and French Open. Gotta get the other two as well. Then I'll go to NZ too.
Jeb, I’ve enjoyed your aviation videos for a few years now but I really appreciate that you & Suzanne are doing more destination vlogs. I’m pretty certain after next week the Faroes will move up in rank on my Bucket List items; thanks for taking us along!
Each new video of yours feels more and more to me like a professionally-produced TV show than a UA-cam video; the production quality is just outstanding. I especially love the route map!
This is so cool -- a boutique airline with just 3 airplanes, ensuring access to such a unique and remote destination. Thanks Jeb & Suzanne, and can't wait for the on-the-ground video!
Jeb, your description of a place is that of the wondrous view of a child!! Never change! Suzanne is lucky to have you!! Look forward to learning more about the Faroe Islands!
Spent one week on Faroe Islands last summer and I was so scared of the landing after watching countless videos and listening to my friends who've been there our landing was amazing phewww and had the most amazing stay!!
A number of years ago we were on a repositioning cruise starting in England. We went to the Faroe Islands, it was fascinating. Had a teacher for a guide, he was great. The trip included Greenland and Iceland etc. ending in NY A trip I will never forget
I've been twice - both arrivals with Atlantic, but one departure with SAS. From Reykjavik (city airport) once and Copenhagen the second time. We did a go-around early in the approach the second time due to a snow storm. Weather there changes often, so we just held for half an hour, (while the one snow plow serviced the runway) and landed no issues. A Faroese couple behind us kept us informed since the pilot only gave announcements in Faroese and Danish. I had similarly looked up their fleet and arrival procedures beforehand, so had full confidence. Wonderful airline.
Uh yes, the Faroes, my personal favourite in the north😎. Been there 2 times and a third time is basically set already... RC is indeed a great airline and many european carrier could take them as an example how to do things! Nevertheless I took the Wideroe Q400 to Bergen, when I returned from the Faroe Islands this spring. Yes, 1 hour and 45 minute Dash-8 flight over open water. Couldn't let this opportunity go, when I was there🙈
I do so enjoy your videos. You have a wonderful presentation style that really lets us feel we are sharing your excitement. Also - wonderful shots of the Faroes - a place I've never seen anything about before.
Always interesting to see / fly new airlines when you’re in another country. I was in Switzerland a few weeks ago and spotted a Pegasus Airlines, Edelweiss, and a few other interesting ones.
Great video Jeb & Suzanne! Love seeing the Faroe’s & Atlantic Airways. I was also gonna say at 3:16 when you said in your SAS Inaugural A350 video: “One reason for my love of aviation is the sheer number of places it can take you. The Faroe Islands are high on my list, have you been?” So glad you finally got to try Atlantic! At 3:36 I’d most like to try flying Lufthansa the flag carrier of Germany 🇩🇪 Also at 3:20 that is an Airbus A319 and your flight was in an A320neo not an A320… Also was this video supposed to come out before the Lufthansa 747-8 video from FRA-JFK? I think maybe it was because you left Oslo for Frankfurt after leaving the Faroe Islands 🇫🇴 correct? Anyways despite the video order mismatch it was still great & cheers 🥂
Another great vlog and to islands I wish to visit and on an airline I wish to fly on plus once again it’s made more special by having your good lady wife included in the vlog so defo more of these please 🙏
Great review. Interesting flight experience to an uncommon destination. Would like to try in the future for myself and make a video of it. Learned a great deal from your videos and channel. Please keep it coming.
I would really like to fly on Emirates! Especially after watching your “Emirates First Class on the A380” video, it seems like a wonderful ride on that big bird!
Glad you two are adventurous so the rest of us can "go" with you! The airlines I'd like to try is the First Class Emirates. Only because of your videos!
Hey Jeb and Suzanne...looks like it's gonna be an informative and really enjoyable series of vlogs from this trip to the Faroe Islands . Can't wait for the next one. If only it was a 2hour flight from where I live, I will put this destination on my "bucket list"
My most coveted flag carrier is Air Koryo. It’s not technically a flag carrier because we’re not an independent nation but Scotland’s Loganair has fascinating routes including the world’s shortest commercial flight and one that is the only scheduled flight to use a beach as a runway. I’ve been fortunate enough to fly both and highly recommend them.
Great video and a place I would love to visit but I just don't think I could because of their whaling. Does things like this ever come into consideration when you visit a place and what is the whole situation there like? Is it on the menu in places? Did you see any activities
Great video about a place that I’d love to see for myself! Also, I fly quite a bit and assess my own “Jeb Score” based the same factors as you. Thanks and look forward to the video about the Faeroe island you visited.
Nice video Jeb! Your channel is absolutely amazing! Keep all this great work. Love traveling. Already subbed. I will continue to support you! Have fun there!
I love your videos can you do American Airlines hub hopping i’m in aviation in the US like you being on an airplane really interest me keep up the great work!!!
I think there is also seasonal nonstop service from New York Stewart Airport (about 60 miles north of NYC) to the Faroes. I live near Stewart, so I try to utilize their limited flights. A few months ago, I flew Stewart-Keflavik (Iceland)-Amsterdam on PLAY Airlines. Good experience, albeit bare bones.
Hey Jeb! Im on your virgin atlantic flight from new york to london! I was so excited when I saw you! I saw you in the Upper class and when boarding, we are about to take off, hope to see you when we land!
Cool, met a couple on MC from the Faroe Islands today, in Norway, Hardangerwidda. And btw, "Gamle Aurlandsvegen" is a challenge to drive in a car, can't imagine what it would be like driving a bus 🙂
Jeb, I still have fingers crossed you will be doing a Tailwind Air trip Boston-NYC before they shutter for the season. Haven't seen any travel UA-camrs do the seaplane excursion yet and it would make for great content.
I always wanted to fly back to johannesbug and to fly on the a380 British airways and South African airways to new york from Johannesburg or even flight atlanta to Johannesburg nice video
Great vlog as always! When you flew UA to BGO I was sure you guys would take the Smyril line ferry to Færøyene or Iceland, but you fooled me. Lol! The airport at Vagar had the world record for 737 ops. Flying in/out using a 1200m 3600ft rwy. With a reduced load of course. The airline Mærsk flew the route for yrs. What airports are alternats you ask. Norway, Scotland, Iceland or Denmark. Now you know! Fun fact no.2 RC pilots always uses the door that is not into the weather. So it can be door A or B. Looking forward to the next one! P.S. I have to ask you to watch Kara and Nates vlog. It was posted today. It is insane! It is a journey for guys like us. Lol!
Jen and Suzanne, you should try Azores Airlines who serves the Azores Acappella group of 9 islands and Madera. Flights are available from several European Countries and the east coast of North America
Hello Jeb, hello Suzanne, the first time that I saw a Lockheed Tristar (L-1011/500) with the beautiful Landor livery for British Airways at Rio de Janeiro's Galeão Airport, I decided I needed to visit the UK ! I’ve been there and loved it. We thought we were at the top of the world. Then we noticed Svalbard. When are you going there? I look forward to your Faroese tour.
I’m from the Copenhagen suburbs so I’ve seen Atlantic airways a few times in Copenhagen airport to and from vacation. I also really would like to go to the Faroe Islands

Just watching Jeb when feeling a bit down makes the day instantaneously brighter.
Always enjoy learning about new airlines I haven't heard of!

Thanks so much for all of your support through the years!!
@@GreenerGrass - I love your documentaries - you are going to places and explaining them so I don't have to go.

South African Airways and Air New Zealand! With their cool livery and somewhere I still want to travel to! ✈ :)

I'd like to fly with FIGAS, mainly because if I do, that means I've made it to the Falkland Islands, a small country that has fascinated me for years.

A "flag carrier" you should try is Airgreenland, they are soon getting a new A330-800 see if can't get a flight on that.
The overhead announcement at the Oslo airport sounds just like the one at Heathrow! I wonder if they use the same recording/ person.
