Spoiler's alert: because he didn't have a good oppinion on Shinsengumi or humans in general he believed that his way of thinking was the best, and maybe because he knew how the Yukimura clan suffered because of the humans they so much respected he thought that by abducting Chizuru (because she was so stubborn and wouldn't leave the Shinsengumi men) he would save her from an unfortunate fate. He was pretty creepy at first with his "you will marry me so that we'll have powerful offsprings", but after traveling with her trying to find the remaining Shinsengumi warriors he became so... I don't know... he made me feel like out of all of the suitors he loved her the most. Maybe because of his oni instincts of protecting his woman. ....and also Kenjiro Tsuda's voice was just *chefs kiss* He wasn't a bad man, he just believed in his ideals in principles.
They are not the same voice actors from the game. (Those voice actors are much older than these actors.)The acting is very typical of Japanese TV drama style, tho.
