Excellent short and to the point video. As a Hospital Emergency Management Director in the Med-District I can advise you this program provides information that is very helpful for people like me who writes Disaster Plans. It is time the State gets involved and supports the information this program can provide in helping save lives and infrastructure. Thank you for posting.

As an Ocean Engineer, I have to say this Seagate idea is stupid. Houston Ship channel already has two barrier islands and dual jetties protecting the bay. The bay is already protected. The region is at risk from flooding as the coastal plains are cemented, lack of marshes, and lack of water retention ponds, If citizens don't want to deal with flooding, don't live next to the coast. There is no money on earth that can prevent natural disasters.
In short, personal maturity is needed to prevent wasteful government spending, high taxes, and emininet domain.

What concerns me is that we as a society have waited until the 2010's to consider doing anything serious about the environment and flood control.

Why not just build a seagate from Morgan's Point to Atkins Island and then another gate from Atkins Island to south Baytown? Less construction equals less money. That is what politicians want to hear.
