I like fine-tuned jumps in Zeepkist, most of my tracks have at least one or two lines for those. There's a mod that draws the line you took during your testing runs, in the editor. I find it an invaluable tool to perfect the angles and distances so that the jumps can be landed with millimeter accuracy. There's one big issue with the split ramp technique, and that's it gives vastly varied results that depend on so many variables that it resembles RNG more than a skill check.
Fun Fact: What kAN build is actually a "Do an Aileron Roll"-Track, because that maneuver is called an Aileron Roll, NOT a Barrel Roll. Star Fox simply got it wrong back then and miss-named that maneuver.
I still find it extremely amusing that we call them aileron rolls universally when it's literally a soapbox derby cart with no ailerons, and other flying animals have done it for longer than ailerons have existed
Hey Kan, here's a suggestion for Yannic: Once the timer ends, you can keep going as long as your checkpoints stay in the green. Solves both problems: no AFK, and people on good laps get the chance to finish. The logic would be incredibly simple: IF current_time > next_checkpoint_best_time THEN end_my_round ELSE keep_going
You know for your next track something that plays on grinding like you did at 6:40 might be fun. Don't know how you'd do it but basic idea could be that you set yourself up to grind when an angled piece of wall suddenly kicks you free you flip onto the next wall before your current one ends. Think something basically like wall hopping in 2D platformers. The trick to getting more time would probably have to be in finding ways to make up speed loss by dipping down and hitting boosters, as well as to line yourself up to only start grinding right on time to flip over to the next track. Or you know you could skip the grinding part and just focus on the wall hopping, but I think they can work together.
Next up, kAN: full boost track! 150-200 speed boosters covering every inch of track. Use the variance between 150 and 200 to adjust turns and stuff. Troll everyone.
Yea, been wondering bout that myself. Dev hasnt joined em in a while either. Kinda feel like kosmos whining bout ppl cheesing put ppl off. His attitude is a bit abrasive (putting it as politely as i can) compared to the others. If im not wrong, it makes me admire Kan more for still kickin it w kosmo instead of cut ties also, even tho i wouldnt be against him doing so. Seems like hes a good friend to have
You know, if you did the simpler rolls, but more of them. so its 5-6 simpler versions, it would be a really fun track. and while it might not seem as hard... trying to hit every one "perfect" would lead to fun racing lines coming up through it.
Aaahh such a shame of your last run! Maybe there should be an option to allow finishing your run after the time expires (kinda like F1 qualification runs)
I wunder if it would be possible to do a track where you HAVE to break all 4 sheels. I don't know how and if it's possible to do like a height check. Do a jump, break all 4's and then go towards a wall with a gap in the bottom. I don't know if when all your wheels are off your height is smaller...
Alright kAN how's this for an idea? Do you think you could somehow consistently make the Zeepkist lose all four wheels? Maybe using concrete barriers. Because you could make the ultimate RNG no-input toboggan run/log flume race
They've talked about that, and at least Kosmo has mentioned trying. The real problem isn't only loosing wheels consistently; the cars don't behave like you'd expect without wheels, random bumps and inconsistent friction even on what should be perfectly flat surfaces. I think Yannic (the dev) described it as the bottoms of the cars not actually being smooth, but I don't know enough about game engine physics to elaborate further.
@@MegaGaming11 So long as your run is fast enough to make podium it should let you keep going, but as soon as you tick past 3rd place then it nixes your run. So the game let's you continue the run until it is slower than 3rd place.
@@emm4rmstrong The lobbies still wouldn't end, because teh game would have to keep track of the speed of *everyone's* runs, so if everyone is on a good time then no one's run would get nixed. Plus it'd be weird for people to start poofing from existence for no reason, unless them failing to get podium puts them in photo mode watching other people that are on a good run. But I don't think the game - or Yannic for that matter - can handle that kinda code.
@@MegaGaming11 But the lobbies would end. You either finish the run and get podium or you exceed the time to get podium and your run is finished. You can't start a new run after the time is over. And people already poof midrun when they decide to restart.
Telling people every trick of your track within 30 seconds, or halfway through the timer, is completely different. The latter allows them self-discovery with help later if they still need it allowing more than enough time for them to fully enjoy it. The former denies them a chance to conquer your track by themselves.
Idk why people ask for easy tracks then complains about it then asking to Kan make it harder he does that. Then they cry tell us how we need do it. But if Kan tell hes friends then later the rest you guys get mad lmao you the onces cry for it.
Why don't you mention to the creator of zeepkist that if you're on a run like you were there right at the end. Then it will count down the author's time when the time hits zero is over for everyone. If you're on a run it will start counting down the author's time so you had enough time to finish your race. But if you reset in that moment and the timer went to zero, and the author time is going. You're done. You can't do another race
The problem isn't that you're giving people instructions, it's that you're making a track that needs instructions to be fun, while most people don't have them in the first place. (don't tell me it doesn't need instructions to be fun, if you didn't agree you wouldn't be compelled to give them)
Really liked this one. The high ramp was hard and had a few very potential runs but ended up sliding after landing :D

This was actually a really fun track. all tech and no kacky.
Kan's character: Falling from the track all the way to the ground, sticks the landing with no damage
Kan: surprised Pikachu face
especially when you can take a fall of only a couple meters and half your wheels fall off.
Edge of my seat the whole time. Lots of lols in the into. Nice one.

I was going to comment something like this too actually, but you beat me to it 😄
The track could have been named "Do am Aileron Roll!"
I still find it extremely amusing that we call them aileron rolls universally when it's literally a soapbox derby cart with no ailerons, and other flying animals have done it for longer than ailerons have existed

That's great and all but I didn't see a single barrel roll. I saw a lot of nice aileron rolls though.

now you have to make a track with the huge fall hoping your car doesnt break
imagine the fall takes half the time so if you fail you cant do it again
"one more attempt" should definitely be a shirt. kan says it like every episode during the track preview

So, where's the barrel rolls? All I seen were aileron rolls.
I‘ve seen this track in the workshop. It’s madness.
You should make a track where you lose all your wheels and have to Slide to the Finish that would be aesome.
Sorry for my Bad english.
As soon as you stopped caring you hit a perfect run
Last run finish option would be nice.
I know dapper was taking a break but what happened to ScrapMan playing?

I came to see if I was the only one xD
Sorry for also being a stickler, but cars don't have ailerons.

Yes, by being 0.111 seconds faster.

I Miss Kan in Scrap Mechanics building is his Forte and enjoy watching him do so. Watching him building tracks and racing isn't that fun.
Trackmania rule: never start a run you can't finish. Because you'll always be throwing away a good run
I've no idea what that means.
You should do a speed trap track
Nice
That's not a barrel roll that's an aileron roll. It's sad that you don't know the difference.
He is more than likely referencing the meme which also isn't a barrel role.
