This amazing young lady fulfilled a dream for me...I had planned to take my wife to Ireland (both are Irish), but unfortunately my wife passed away, and I am disabled. Muireann has brought Irerland to me and I am forever grateful. Thank you, Muireann!
I've been fingerpicking the 🎸 guitar for over 50 years. I'm 71½ now, and if I keep at it, I hope to one day be half as good as Muireann. You don't need to play the guitar yourself to realise how good this young lady is, but it helps. Her singing is excellent as well. I wish her a successful future in music; she richly deserves it.
I agree. 54 here and still love fingerstyle acoustic folk guitar. I can only imagine the thousands of hours this lady has put in to get this good. Nobody is naturally good, it's all just down to practice and the sheer will to want to play something.

I completely agree with you Leo. I am 64 and much younger than you! Her finger picking is so powerful that I am trying to copy it. So good to see someone so young doing this. Thank you.
We all know that older, grizzled rock fans LOVE this! So let's hope more YOUNG folks her age are touched by these performances; and take up the guitar and sing out like this.
Fantastic set. Full-blown crazy good. Not just the guitar playing, and not just the fabulous voice, but also the once-in-10-generations passion and DNA for a music that, thanks to people like her, will never, ever die. Thank you! Say Amen, somebody.
When I lived in New Orleans in the '70s I caught a lot of living legends. Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, Furry Lewis, Roosevelt Sykes, Robert Pete Williams opening for John Lee Hooker at Tipitina's, Tuts Washington and more. This was back when Professor Longhair played regularly at Tipitina's. I have not been this excited about a new blues artist in a long time. This young girl's CD I have been playing all the time. Hardly play anything else since I received the album just before Christmas. Such sweet, clean playing and that lovely voice. I am glad to see that her stuff is being posted on various blues pages on Social Media. At 72 I am bowled over by this amazingly talented young lady. I used to think that the best interpretation of Blind Blake's riffs were done by Leon Redbone. Now I think differently. What is great is how Ms. Bradley can play in the style of these classic blues guitarists while at the same time making them her own. A very rare talent in such a young, exceptionally talented girl. Fantastic!
Her acoustic guitar playing is so unique for this time that I'm reminded of JoAnn Kelly, the great English blues singer, and from a New Orleans talent perspective, James Booker. Now I wouldn't wish Booker's life on her, but she has similar talent. Much different, very humble, even awed by the attention she is getting. Would love to see her perform at in the States, maybe at a festival in Clarksdale, MS or the New Orleans Jazzfest - on the Lagniappe stage.
Hello from the US. That girl is going places. Her technique is soooo clean and precise, remarkable for that genre. And the vocals follow the style without mimicry. As much as her music is an homage, she is not just resurrecting these songs, she makes them new.
It's amazing to me that she's 16 now, picked up the guitar at age 9 and took a few years off to do martial arts. She has an incredibly high music IQ to accomplish this level of guitar playing in such a short amount of time. She is just scratching the surface of her talents. Also as my family heritage is from Donegal I'm particularly proud of you representing Ireland.
I’m an old guy. Seeing a youngster loving the old tunes and keeping them alive gives me hope. I am an acoustic fingerpicker. It is not an easy thing to do. This young lady has a gift.
I've been a fan for the few years she's been on youtube. Her playing is so right and righteous!! But it is her voice that just knocks me out! Keep doing it just as you choose to--don't let anyone pressure you. We fans will always be happy to hear your work. I went to Newport Folk Festivals in the '60's and NO one got to me like you do. Blues live on in voices like yours. Thank you.
This young lady is amazing! Thank goodness for younger-generation musicians who are musically descerning enough to understand the importance of early blues and other music. Bravo!
She would make you sick with her talent. “Picked it up again during lockdown”. I could pick it up for 20 years and still be nowhere. She reincarnates the old country blues songs and makes them her own so they sound fresh. Well done to dad and best wishes for long and happy career .
I just learned of you through Vintage Guitar Magazine. I am floored. I'm 71 and struggle mightily to play this stuff, you make it look so easy and we all know it isn't. Absolutely wonderful.
She is gem . True to the music pure voice , clean accurate picking . I've been loving and picking acoustic blues for decades and I take off my hat to her accomplishments .
Muireann, is absolutely and utterly outstandingly brilliant and she’s going to the very very top. And she’s such a lovely person and her Dad seems nice too. I absolutely Love ❤️ ❤❤❤ her music, and her too.
I just recently found this young lady and her version of When The Levee Breaks moved me to tears……it was almost so beautiful and heartfelt I couldn’t take it in. I had to hit the pause button. When someone moves you like that you have to take notice and tip your hat to her talent and her heart. Wow is all I can say! God bless you and I hope you continue to sing the songs you want to sing. And the guitar playing….unless you have tried to do this you have no idea how hard it is to pull off and sing at the same time. Please come to America if you haven’t already!!!!
Muireann, what a talent you are. A class act. Not only through the truly brilliant guitaring and singing but the way you conduct yourself. Your father must be incredibly proud of you. You make me so proud of my Irish roots. Your respect of old time music shows what a natural talent you are. You've made my 2024 already and its only January. You have a long and successful career ahead of you and I'm glad I got in relatively early. Well done you! Dave D
I have just discovered this wonderful talent! I am speechless and can't get enough. WOW, just wow. Keep singing Muireann Bradley, you bring so much light 🙏🍀. Lots of love from Sydney Australia
I read about this young lady in Vintage Guitar Magazine. It is unusual for the magazine to feature such a young musician. My interest was peaked when I read that she loved and played a lot of the old blues stuff of the old greats of the MS Delta, the area in the USA where I grew up. Then I listened to some of her music. What a talent! Then I listened to some more of her music. I am a fan, and I am blown away by how true she is to the old stuff. Keep performing, young lady, and I will certainly be listening.
Very gifted performer.Hard not to sound contrived/artificial playing this music. She is herself, yet have caught the the spirit of this tradition.Dom Martin, Dea Matrona and now Muireann Bradley, Irish musicians reviving this musical tradition.
J' aime beaucoup l' énergie dégagée par le chant de cette jeune fille et son jeu de guitare me parait digne de mississippi John Hurt!! merci pour tout ca !!
@@AndyUK-Corrival I always listen to Stones in my passway and Terraplane Blues (Clapton's version).... Great interview with Muireann and what a justifiable proud Dad she has ! Lotsa fun in that household ! The very best of Ireland on the World Stage, putting good "Cheer" into the days ! Blessings !
Delightful. Well done dad, my two girls have grow up with me trying to play these old country blues tunes, but you must be so proud and exited for her now. All the best for 2024 and the future
I’ve been loving and playing this guitar style since the early sixties. But Muireann plays better than I do. With all my heart I wish her luck! Brought tears to my eyes.
When ever i watch muireann work her guitar it always makes me giggle. To see a young girl with so much talent just fries my brain. Surely it cant be real.
I think I've watched a half dozen different performances, and I don't think she has missed so much as a single note. Just astounding. Her singing is getting better every time. Sounds more mature and confident every time. A wonderful thing to see in our lifetime. 100 years from now people will working hard to try and sound like Miureann.
Like to add an “aye” to the voice comments I’ve read here. Her playing is wonderful, obviously …though I’m not qualified to speak to her technical proficiency…but her voice and singing could melt butter! So natural and real. Bravo!
My first thought was Rory Gallagher, when he would do his acoustic blues stuff. Fantastic. I'm guessing she knows a little something about Rory. :) I haven't listened to this full clip yet, I listened to a song that was posted on FB on one of those 'suggested for you' posts. Getting ready to give this a listen...
Wow! I’m really impressed. I just happened on this and I’m really quite happy I did. Great vocals and really excellent picking. I think this young lady will have a great career. Wishing her much luck. It sounds like Dad is really looking after his girl. 👍👍🇨🇦
