too bad they made more pop oriented music and never went back to the ethereally beautiful jazzy pop rock of the first record... still troubleman is one of the greatest songs ever
I really felt this album when I first listened to it. I had just gotten out of a very serious relationship, and took a trip overseas to Japan as a soul searchy kind of time to myself when his new album had popped up. Maybe due to my situation, this whole album felt like a “spite” album, but it’s a whole vibe, and I’m all for it. But, this song especially off the list of tracks hit hard. Especially the last 30 seconds when it becomes solely his voice, the chorus in the background, and the guitar. It goes from a “badass” vibe to more of a somber one, and that hits a different way- as if despite this whole facade he puts up, it truly does hurt him deep down.
