I became intrigued with the Battle of Fox’s Gap ever since I read Steve’s article in the old Blue and Gray magazine. I have since indicted the area several times since reading about the battle and the well. Very interesting presentation!
Including his cavalry scout detachment commander CPT Philip ? Whom Anderson took the colors from the 27th GA at Williamsburg and ran them up the hill getting promoted to BG for this by Jeff Davis. The CPT lost his sword and pistol and Anderson loaned him a sword and one of his Lemotts a .41 he carried two .36s in command at Bloody Lane plus a sword and a d guard in his boot.

When they dug the well on those four weekends and found 20th century items why didn't they go deeper? The civil war stuff would have been deeper. I believe there are 14 or so left in the well many from Anderson s brigade including his
