Steve seems like he loves what he is doing and having a ball. Love these vintage drum demos. I played a 50's Premier set in the 1960s and still remember the great feeling I got from them.
From Keith Jones, Christian session drummer, Cornwall, England UK. Used Premier drums for many years, always a great sound and the chrome work was always top-notch. Used a 1970's grey shimmer kit in the studio and for live work many times over the years. You can hear a track by Hawkwind, on The Twice Upon a Time LP, where it's used and also on a song by Phil Bell titled, Road to Nowhere. Keep up the good work Steve with all your drums. God Bless (K.J.)
I own one of these kits which i got hold of from my late fathers drummer. also have the royal ace snare with which are hard to come by these days. steve like another comment on here i could listen to you play all day. again you make these vintage kits sound fantastic. and to here a kit like mine played properly is magic thanks for the videos you put on here keep them coming.
That's just beautiful! The original calf heads - wow!! The Color is gorgeous. Wow that drum pedal 😱 beautiful! That is one cool kit right there! Keep groovin'! 🥁😎DC
Sad!!! The premer drums are better than Ludwig build and Sounds Unbelievable!!!! Ludwug also good drums! But alot of drummer play they ludwig only becouse famous drummer played tham and not becouse the sound!!! You have right!!! Thats the only different!!!
Philipp Pietruszka And the prices are accordingly. I have vintage Slingerland, Premier and Ludwigs..and rate the sound in that order, however the Blue Oyster Pearl 1967 Ludwigs look the best and are worth the most...go figure.
Love the videos!....One helpful suggestions when video taping, pull the drums further away from the back wall and use a back light to remove any shadows.
Wow, how can we capture that vintage tone that premiere and Leedy, and early Slinger land and Ludwig had and let's not forget Camco I guess my only choice is to buy a vintage kit nice stuff Mister Maxwell
I've got one that's been through the wars along side me through falling asleep on it in Trafalgar Square to playing in muddy festivals, great Drums but limited drum skin ranges due to ' pre-international sizes , But at least you can get remo ambassadors still
I wish the drum companies today would demand the chrome plating process that premier used on all there hardware back in the day.I believe it was triple A plating. This was a plating process like no other. As far as I know, premier hardware had the best chrome hardware in the business. I'd be willing to bet the stuff we get today won't look like it does ten years from now.I wonder if British Drum Co. Uses this plating on there hardware?? Would love to know if any drum manufacturers are using it.I don't think so,does anybody have the answer?.?
I have a similar set and I want to sell it. How much does these drumset go for? Mine is quite similar to this But not that shiny tbh. A little bit more worn out But its all orginal with orginal case and all. P.S Im a guitarist. Bought it from my friend, it was his grandads
Sounds fantastic! And you sir are a great drummer! Can you please tell me something about B111 kit? I found one (made in 1973) in the ads at the pretty low price, but I can't find sound examples on the YT:( Thanks in advance and best regards from Belgrade, Serbia (ex-Yugoslavia)
All of the premier drums re the same the "version" you have is just a config number the b111 is just premier drums so birch or mahogany with beech re rings search for a premier elite 70s same shells same kits different configs
Nice kit i think some premier drums are over rated,im lucky to get my dads premier kit that he bought in the uk before he moved to au, its the mahogany kit ringo had before he went to ludwig.man i love the sound of it the kick as a nice deep and has alot of attack....a guy once seen the kit before i found out the history of it he offered me 20k for it im like what he said its the same kit ringo used im like yeh whatever, but he was telling the truth so yeh i would never sell it,imagine how much it would be worth when ringo passes on.....;)
Is this Mahogany or birch ? 1954. Sounds better than most of today’s expensive kits. Calf skin was prone to breaking with weather changes. Love to hear Sing, Sing ,Sing and Golden Wedding on these, English Premiers were world class drums, but vintage parts can be hard to get today.
Every drum kit I have seen on this channel sounds fantastic.
And consider that every recording is just a cheap camera mic. Imagine how good it would sound mic'ed.
Beautiful drum kit and wonderful playing Steve
Those Calf Heads, pure heaven......

Exquisite touch and musicality in every one of your beautiful solo demo's Steve. Very inspiring.
Premier's diamond chrome plating was the world's best then.
Impressive ten lug floor tom.

1954 was the year Rock N Roll started ..🎸🥁
JUST LIKE MY VERY FIRST KIT ! WONDERFUL !
Beautiful sounds
Really cool kit, Steve! I can't believe those heads still sound so good after so many years!
Premier amazing drums, Steve is a Master of the Jazz drums tunning, and i love her old School taste technique drumming.
Thanks for your videos.
Another great find! I don't
know how ya do it Steve. I
can't wait to see everyone
@the pre-show party friday!
Beautiful
Sounds incredible
Would love to hear SING SING SING and HAWAIIAN WAR CHANT played on these..
That beautiful old vintage tom sound..🥁
Nice chops, Sir! Thank you :-)
That is a nice set of drums. That is a set you can sit around and play all day or set it up and stare at it. Lol
Love your videos
If Ringo had stayed with Premier instead of changing to Ludwig it could well have been a different story today
so true

Wow!
All the old Rock and Rollers in England started out on Premier or Ajax, and then moved on to Ludwig.
If only today’s drums could sound like these and vintage Slingerlands, although the good mahogany kits, like Ludwig, also sound great today.
Love the videos!....One helpful suggestions when video taping, pull the drums further away from the back wall and use a back light to remove any shadows.
Give me these over any expensive DW kit, from a sound point of view.
Much cheaper too...great vintage sound, rarely heard on new drums.
Let's keep it a secret...

Hi Steve, that's a Super Ace, not a Royal Ace. Great kit.
I've got one that's been through the wars along side me through falling asleep on it in Trafalgar Square to playing in muddy festivals, great Drums but limited drum skin ranges due to ' pre-international sizes ,

Quality...made in England...always is...down to the last rod and nut 🏴

dancincrow Thanks! Steve
