Both Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan and Pandit Ajay Chakravarti are of same Patiala Gharana and the recording of Malkauns by Bade Gulam is available.
The Alaap and the following part in slow tempo reminded me of that.

Panditji is always one of my most favourites and this is exceptional rendition by him. He is not only one of the best singers but a great guru who has so many disciples performing brilliantly......I shall always look up to panditji and his blessed daughter Kaushiki.

one of the best rendering of Malkauns I ever heard, Many variations...Unfoldment of raag has been done in various ways.. Very Melodic Taans and laykari.... Never heard this kind of Melodious as well as serious Malkauns ! Unique combinations.. Hats off

It's not that special... It's good. His voice lacks the timber of Ustad Amir Khan, Rashid Khan, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi etc. He is a very well trained singer and very disciplined singer though, highly admirable.
