    I watched it earlier; my mother passed away two weeks ago, I am watching it again to make a to do list for my mother and also want to circulate it to my relatives to pray for their deceased parents. May Allah SWT grant his blessings for YQ and his family.

    This is one of the the most thorough and thoughtful analysis of sadqa-e-jariah. It's important to note that the questions mentioned were about sadqa, haj-e-badal, and fasting on someone's behalf - someone you believe in and care about because of their impact on you. This obligation may stem from their influence or relationship with you. Where there's is no hadith about Companions asking about Quran reading for their loved ones, there is also no hadith about Prophet PBUH stopping the practice. Similar practices in Judaism are done by reading Torah to ease the transition of the soul and include 3-day or 40-day prayers mourning periods. While the lecture suggests that doing sadqa, roza, or haj may be preferred, the most convenient form of Zikar/deed for deceased families are dua and Quran reading. Other methods should not be ignored but you can not aske people to stop Quran reading and leave for Haj first. Reading the Quran can not be considered a bidah or sin. It's a collection of God's message and prayers. Aren't we praying Namaze-Jinazah for dead which has prayers and Surah for his benefit? All forms of Zikar are made for ones Ibadat and one form can not become Bidah. Only Allah SWT knows which dua or good deed He will accept and send to your loved ones. Coming together to read the Quran instead of gossiping when a family is mourning cannot be wrong. The practice of Soyam and the 40-day transition of the soul from earth is an ancient practice from Judaism based on the old testament.

But after this lecture, now I've become more compassionate towards some of those rituals. JazakAllahu khair :)

    With due respect, shekh gave references of quran and hadith to support his opinion, however, could not refer to any hadith or ayah of quran to support the idea that quran recitation by living can benefit the dead muslim. Still I am not getting a clear picture. Thanks to the shekh a lot for bringing so much useful information. May allah reward him the best and guide all of us to the right direction.

    With due respect I believe we need to follow Muhammad S.A.W more than any imaam. Our prophet said im leaving you with quran and my sunnah. Today we see so much division in islam just because each of our scholars gave their opinions and ppl made those opinions as the real islam and left what Muhammad said or did. To me, i am a simple muslim with no sect or following any one imaam. Quran told me to ponder over things myself too so i think in the light of quran and sunnah and listen to scholars who speak in the light of quran and sunnah and then do what is told. My father recently passed away due to covid and since he died, i have been reciting duas all day, recited by Muhammad S.A.W, mentioned in ahadith and we are doing sadqa and distributing quran manuscripts and doing all other things to benefit our father. I think this is what was recommended by Muhammad very explicitly. And these duas are so so beautiful and a complete package for the deceased that I wonder we are asking Allah for and gifting every beautiful thing to the deceased. Finally whatever we do is to be accepted by Allah but at least we should follow quran and sunnah strictly first and then any new opinions by scholars later. I live in pakistan and you might not have a clear idea of what happens here in the name of quran recitation for the deceased. The muslims do not recite quran or act upon quran themselves, their whole life and we recite quran to get them forgiven when they die. This never happened in the life of Muhammad S.A.W and his practice is above every scholar's opinion.

    Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullah Wa-barakath Yasir bhai Iam from India and love your lectures vvv much Yasir bhai and even I believe that any deed can be given from living to dead or alive because Allah says in quran that at the day of akhira relatives will be running away from each other that they might ask the deeds. so they run away fromone another I have also heard a wakhiyah of akhirah .
    That at the day of judgment allah will be judging a person and he will be need only one amaal to go to Jannah and Allah will say get me a one more deed and I will send you to Jannah then he will go and ask his all family members but no one will give .but then a unknown person who has only one deed in his lifetime he will give to him and he will return to allah with very happyness and says I have got one deed. allah will ask him who gave u then he will say fula fula gave.then allah will ask to bring that person who gave his deed to him and then allah will ask that person that do u gave the deed to him .he will say yes but Allah will ask where as u have only one amaal in ur account still wanted to give the amaal. then the unknown man will say Allah I know that I have only one amaal in my account anyhow I know I can't go to Jannah but this slave of yours can do so. so I thought I can benefit this man by doing so where as iam anyhow jahannam .by looking at this unknown person's action allah gets so impressed that allah sends Jannah to both of them.then the unknown person asks that why is he(one deed man) also being send to Jannah then allah says on the day of justice (akhirah) no one is mercy full than me (allah) so allah sends both to Jannah ....by looking at this wakhiyah we can conclude that even at akhirah deeds can be donated or given to any one and so as here on earth live to dead or living to living can do it makes a sence a logic.

    Assalamualaikum recently a practising muslim colleague who was married to a non muslim passed. Her only daughter is also non Muslim. She, on her death- bed made her non muslim sister and muslim friends promise that they will give her a muslim burial. They did as she wished. Her sister also organised a 40day katam, the muslims sat at the front of the hall and non Muslim relatives sat at the back.They also wore hijaab. A Moulana convened and the Muslims were each given copies of Yaseen surah to read. The moulana claimed it was a first time where he had to officiate at a mixed gathering at a katam,seems a new norm in South Africa.

    I don't understand why Shaykh find it ironic if the followers of Ibn taymiyyah disregard opinion of Ibn taymiyyah in one or more cases when they clearly say they don't do taqleed of any one person. However! If the followers of Imam shafi have flipped, shaykh doesn't find it amusing when this group clearly say themselves they are muqallid of Imam Shafi. 🤷‍♂️
    Any logic, anyone?

    Wait hold up.... I was told you could give all your good deeds to the people who have passed away and you retain your good deeds....
    Ex: today I prayed 5 namaaz and read a little bit of Qur'an and at the end of day or after Isha namaaz I gift all those deeds to my grandparents who have passed away and every other Muslim who is no longer living, I gift them but I also get to keep the sawaab (hasanat) of that deed. Since Allah is soo great that he doesn't need to take away your deed to give to someone else. He can give them the ajar while you still hold on your own deed. This is what I was taught or told. But this man says once you gift then you no longer have that deed.....

    Using qiyaas over text is not acceptable and the burden of proof in relation to worship (ibaadat) is upon the person claiming that reading Quraan for the deceased is permissible. Why not adhere strictly to what the Sahaba did clearly, Allah has preserved our religion and if it has not come to us that they did such a thing then better to refrain.

      It is rather the burden to prove that it is not permissible. The asl of everything is halaal. And Allah Ta'ala knows best

    With all due respect, Yasir Qadhi should realise that modern day hanbalis/salafis do not follow Ibn taymiyyah word by word. Even though, they consider Ibn taymiyyah to be one of the major scholars, they are not MUQALLID of Ibn taymiyyah. I am sick of hearing this again and again in every lecture.

    • @zacks3750
      @zacks3750 4 роки тому +2

      Also instead of mocking Hanbalis (like he usually do everytime these days being hanbali himself), he totally ignored how MUQALLID of Imam Shafi have totally turned the page. Why is he being so hypocritical these days?

    • @mglaze13
      @mglaze13 4 роки тому +2

      @@zacks3750 How did he mock? He stated a face, that the Salafi movement, which is a very modern group, is going against the majority of our historical scholars. He was being kind by calling them Hanbali, in fact, they (Salafis) do not follow the Hanbali madhab, nor the Salaf.

    • @zacks3750
      @zacks3750 4 роки тому +2

      @@mglaze13 number one! salafis are not modern phenomenon. In fact, three of four famous imams (Imam malik, Shafi, Ahmed) consider themselves as Ahl Al Hadith. Secondly, he mock salafi group specifically (because he has earlier affiliation with that group, that is basic psychology. You don't go "stranger" from friendship. You can go "enemy" from friendship). He didn't emphasize here on the fact that Shafi's and Maliki's, even though they call themselves as Muqallid of these Imams, doesn't follow Imam in this context. However, Salafis doesn't call themselves Muqallid of Ibn Taymiyyah, however are culprit because they don't follow Ibn Taymiyyah in this context.

      Only problem here is making harsh judgements on a great number of people of knowledge who disagree which is unprecedented. This name calling of 'people of innovation' for small issues is intimidating and I thank Allah to have raised some scholars on this level to make a point out of this trend. Honestly, this approach is not limited to labelling people in differing aqidah, but this attitude generally extends to very small issues of disagreement where you'll see how you are presented Islam, as in getting quoted verses of referring to Messenger on disagreement and if you don't do so, you are a hypocrite and stuff like that. This trend is of kharijites and the tone Yasir Qadhi uses is nothing compared to how the mentioned school of thought refutes. May Allah guide us all.

      @@zacks3750 he is not mocking ,just giving the opinion that rigidity to any viewpoint is wrong.
      As past scholars would bring evidence but blind following is very dangerous....islam is very academic and flexible way of life.
