I bought one of these during the pandemic for the p bass punk tone. Threw it in my candy apple red/maple 2013 American special p bass. Nails the pick pbass tone I was after.
I’ve been using the stock “custom” pickup that comes in the Squier Matt Freeman signature P-Bass, which is supposedly modeled after his own ‘77. Not sure if I just lucked out on a gem, but it’s had studio & FOH engineers asking what kind of pickup I’m using because they love it. Sadly, after over 10 years of constant use, it’s becoming a bit microphonic. This review/demo is exactly what I was looking for about this pickup! Perfect showcase of what it can do. Thank you!!!
Nice sounding pickups. Great vid. Do you have a comparison of these ,comparing them to 50's era & 60's era pickups please ? Keep up the great work. Stu
Incredible, awesome playing style . the tone is incredible. just curious what cap are you using for this bass , type & brand ?, ( example : 0.047 or .1 ?)?. And have you ever heard of those blue vintage 'Ajax' caps and what do they sound like as I heard they are awesome for Fender basses / Fender P basses ? Thanks ! :D
It's awesome ! I literally was just listening to the video again when you sent this message ! lol. I think i'm going to put one in the new squier classic vibe 70s p bass in walnut. did the pickup come with a harness too, or you soldiered to the existing p bass harness ? thanks again! @@RumblinMan
I’m personally not a fan of the Geezers, and know of some P pickups that really blow EMG out of the water. That said, I wouldn’t compare this particular pickup to the Geezers because this pickup is specifically aimed at a vintage sound.
@@rcb_matt if the Geezer pickup is a vintage-style pickup, the world has seriously ended. EMG is like the furthest thing from vintage. I would need to look at the specs of the pickup to see why they say that.
I got a P with the geezers, and for that bass it works well but it's got a high mass bridge and ultra lite tuners (its an MIJ Fender and the EMG are better then the ceramics it had in before). I wouldn't but the EMGs on like a real 68 P or a faithful copy of a vintage P. They suffer from the same thing custom shop reissue Fenders suffer from - they aren't true to the vintage originals but can be fine in their own rite.
@@RumblinMan The Geezer pickup is supposed to be build after a 1960 Precision Bass of Bobby Vega, because Geezer Butler was missing something in the mids from the other Vintage P Bass pickups available, something the old 60s pickups have in his opinion. Did you play it before? Why do you think it doesn't sound vintage?
That bass sounds incredible. I've never owned a Pbass, but the longer I go without one the more I convince myself i need one. Loved the video brotha
Thanks so much TJ!! I think you would enjoy one.

That’s awesome, man!! Congrats. I bet that bass is badass- I thought about getting the same model once.
Dig the DI / slap tone a lot. Well done demo. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much!!
Another great video, Daniel, they're getting better and better everytime, keep up the good work, Brother, God bless you and your family!!!
Thanks so much Guy. I appreciate the encouragement! God bless you and your family as well.

The Matt Freeman basses are awesome. Well-built and great-sounding. If you do need to replace the pickup, though, this is a great option.
awesome sound and playing!
Thank you!!

Hey bro. I have no idea what a cap is. But thank you VERY much for your kind feedback. I’m honored that you enjoyed the video!

@@thesanfordmethod1905 yeah, I just soldered it into the harness. This would be a GREAT pickup for the Classic Vibe!
I'm doing it ! thanks for the video, and I'll tell Mojo your video influenced me to buy it . :D@@RumblinMan

I actually like the Wilkinson pickup in my P bass. I've tried a couple others and with LaBella flatwounds it has a sound that I really like.
Haven't finished the video, so maybe you'll touch on it later. How well does this pickup play with flat wound strings? I love my flatties...

Same magnets, same wire, same DC resistance, how come it sounds different? I need an explaination.
Curious - how do these compare to the EMG Geezers?
