You do realize that most Mexicans are of indigenous bloodlines, right? The colonizers just decided everyone that they hadn't managed to kill were now under Spanish rule, and Mexican, regardless of what they called themselves prior to colonization. There are currently only 8 recognized tribes left in Mexico because they (still) refuse to give up their cultural customs. Indigenous Mexicans are Indigenous North Americans. I live right next to the Mescalero Apache Rez in NM. I have many many native friends. I think the emotion they feel most as a people is embarrassment. They used to have everything, now they are all alcoholic, obese, poor, and dumb. You can place blame for those facts wherever you want but it's not hard to see how you would feel embarrassed for your people if they are living that way. I wish things were better for my native friends but they are only getting worse. At this point they should eliminate all the reservations and just make everyone a regular citizen. The government gives them just enough money, food and FEMA trailers to keep them alive but totally subservient. If they were not givin that BS they would find their own way in the world instead of a cheap bottle of booze.

As an Alaskan native. Natives originated from Asia couple thousand years ago. Kinda makes everyone in America a real American that’s the best part about our country. We’re all real Americans even if you’re a first gen immigrant. Even the First Nation was an immigrant at one point.

I’m a trucker and I see many natives here and there. Yall are bringing pride and longevity to your community. You’re also just about the only culture to not get caught up in the awful ungodly adult film industry. That is an amazing thing to be able to say. God bless you ladies❤

When I lived on the Cocapaw reservation in Somerton AZ our house was a one room adobe block home. No electricity. No water. No toilet. One light bulb in the night that was powered by a diesel generator. No stove, we had a Coleman camp stove. There was a canal that ran through the land. We would get on the dock and drop a bucket to scoop about a gallon of water. Before we could drink we had to drop a tablet in the water and wait 15 minutes (minimum) then we could drink. There was an outhouse that had a plank of wood with a hole cut in it. It was actually a wooden enclosure. I don't remember how we kept the door closed, but it was far enough away from the house it dint matter. I didn't have friends. I was one of only ten blond children in a Mexican school. Did I mention we had a dirt floor? To cool it down we threw water on the floor and tossed water on a sheet that would be hung in the middle of the room and mother would "fan" it. Our two windows were square and had a flap of wood that could be lifted and propped open for air. Sometimes it was 120°in the shade. But it was "cool" in the house.
Did I hear you say embarrassed? Shame on you. Look you have headphones on! Our whole family lived on about $50. A MONTH! It's crazy how ungrateful people are these days. I never hung my head. NEVER! And neither did anyone else. We weren't proud but we sure were NOT ashamed. Only thing I ever been ashamed of was the 75% white that made me different. My mother and brother and certainly my grandpa were dark with piercing deep brown eyes. Lovely dark hair.
I also see you have nice clothes! What do you have to be ashamed of? I wore one pair of shoes from size 5 to a 7 1/2 ! I'll never forget my mother fell back when she realized that I been complaining about my feet hurting for two years . My feet have a strange shape because of it. And the palms of my hands are wider than my feet are at the widest part. My clothes didn't fit. But none made fun of me. I did however have at least 3 fights a week. Not with the Indians but sure did with the Mexicans. Not sure why. I didn't speak Spanish but one little girl said her cousin jes wanted to fight me. Life is so strange.
You have a great life. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed. Oh yeah I didn't tell you about the fact I only had meat a couple times and because of it when I was 12 we were in a grocery store and I stole a package of steaks. They were thin and no bone. When I got out the door, I ripped them out of the package and began gulping it down in huge bites. I remember I was so afraid some one was going to take them from me. Now that's sad. That's something to be ashamed of. But you also look well fed.
I'm so thankful to God for everything I had to go through. It has made me resourceful and I appreciate everything I get. Even the bad because the bad teaches me the way to the good and how to keep it.
I hope you learn how really good you have things in your life and if you ever wished your mother and dad could give you more then that's when you should realize YOU have a part to play in that. Find your part. I got my first social security card when I was 14. Went to work beside my mother. Gave her All my money and NEVER asked for any of it back.
My mother been gone since 10/98.
Miss you so much Mother. We made it because we helped each other. My dad abandoned us and took a white wife. He never gave money to my mother. He wouldn't even bring food to us because he didn't want her to have any.
But we made it. My mother gave me my first car. It was an old pushbutton transmission Valiant. It was really old, beat up, but it wás good as gold to me.!
I have so much more to tell. But this is more than I've ever told anyone else. 😊

The First Nations tribes need all of our support! It's sad and disheartening on how they have been treated for over two hundred years. I wish I could help. They need their land returned to them. The government screwed them over and didn't abide by the treaties signed for by said government. I served in the military with several First Nations brothers. It was a true honor.
