As an industrial designer, my thoughts on the side shelf is that it's both. If you ask them, they will probably tell you the induction burner will be available in the future. But at the heart of it, recycling parts like that is smart because it simplifies sku inventory, manufacturing, and reduces time.
I bought this grill and love it. It has replaced my oven. Anything I would cook in my oven is now cooked on this grill. I love the look of the grill. I call it the Aston Martin of grills. The flavor in my food is amazing. I love the Traeger App and the recipes are amazing. It’s an exceptional grill for the price
Here is my concern. Traeger keeps increasing their prices from one model generation to the next without significant innovation to warrant it. Just want a bigger slice of profit margin. So, their core customer is being quickly priced out and most likely considering other grills like Pit Boss or Louisiana. For those that can afford it (in the $2,000 plus price range), there are better options. You say just under, but in most States and Provinces with tax, and the accessories, it will go north of $2,000 easily. Hell the cover will take it over $2,000, which is a must. I fear Traeger has taken their value proposition into no-man’s land and is now in a conundrum. Poor guy can’t afford…rich guy wants something sexier. I am a Traeger faithful and have been for years back to my Lil Elite. I have an Ironwood 650 currently. Already looking for my next grill, but looking beyond Traeger. So I am one of those most likely lost. Limited options in Canada, but looking at a Yoder YS640. Up here in Canada, the Ironwood XL is around $2,800 plus tax and any accessories. It will be a cold day in you know where when I pay over $3,000 for something that says Traeger on it. Gotta have a sassier name than that.
For this price, the damn grill better cook the meat without you managing the meat you're cooking. This grill doesn't even come with all of the accessories they sell on their website! Obviously, some people are buying this grill but I believe most are priced out. Just sad.
I have been hearing awful reviews on forums about this thing taking 30-40 min to get to 225. Lots of temp swings and issues getting to the desired temp. Heard anything simmilar? Its whats holding me from getting one
Hey, I love your reviews! Always entertaining and in-depth. I am from Germany and over here the ironwood XL costs 2699 Euro whereas the Timberline 1300 has dropped down to 1899 Euro since the released the new generation. Do think I should get the Timberline 1300 or the ironwood XL?
I asked Traeger this specifically and if they use the same part number it will be expensive. Ill copy paste exactly what they said. "Thank you, the part number of the induction cooktop would be part "KIT0833", while the price would be 1,314.00 USD, it would currently be available for the new Timberlines, but a cutting board would be compatible for the new Ironwoods, which is part "KIT0651".
Have you check the secondary out with a voltmeter? If it has power it may be for one you think. Looks like a pretty standard plug used in IT closets. You just can’t plug in anything unless you change the cord.
I'm holding out until Traeger inevitably add some way to add actual wood chunks and charcoal to the cook. The campchef woodwind pro has the firebox and the masterbuilt gravity smokers just get so much more smoke flavour that Traeger's just aren't worth it anymore.
Good review, will you have some cooking videos with this one at any time? The plug is something you see on a computer. Sadly, all the Traeger grills are made in China. My choice is something made in the USA which is why I now have a LSG.
it seems the bodies and components are near identical, you for sure get the upgraded side burner with the timberline, so if you like to sear, that is the way to go
It's still nothing more than a pellet fired oven. If you can't open-flame charbroil on it, it's not much of a grill. The Fast Eddie PG500/1000 is over a decade old, and is still......by FAR..... the superior pellet smoker/grill on the market. It's max temp is 600 degrees, vs Traeger's 500 degrees, and does an awesome job at searing and charbroiling. AND, it is 100% stainless steel.
Do you work for them or something? You're comparing the Traeger to a wifi/bluetoothless grill that's almost twice the price. Comparing to a Yoder is probably a bit closer.
Appreciate the reviews. That grill looks like a poor design, have not seen a Traeger that is well build plus this unit looks like a pain in the arse to clean between cooks. I know the temp controller is likely spot on, like most modern pellet smokers which means it will likely cook great.

time will tell!!
of course we want to see a review of the IronWood vs the Timberline.
Good idea

dang nice hot take
I'm just starting to look into pellet grills here in Canada. What are some of the better options above $2000 available here, in your opinion?
@@ThomasS17 Fase Eddie PG500 or PG1000. All stainless, you can open flame chargrill on them, and it will do 600 degrees....100 more than Traeger.
@@python3574you mean $1000 more? The 500 is $3500 and the 1000 is 4700

Have you seen the new PitBoss Titan? If so do you recommend it over the ironwood xl?
I have not

Ours took a minute to heat up but not 30 mins

They seem similar. I would say check out the normal size ironwood.
Can you do a review video or even a short take on the best grill brushes for each type of grill?
The side burner addon is coming but it will be more like $800 to 900 I think.....
599.99 is what I’m thinking
At 800 might as well do the timberline
@@embersliving or buy a Kamado Joe and Gozney Dome for around the same money and have 10x the fun

Good to know
One question does it require gas tank? Or wood?
pellets
Another guy said that there will be a pizza oven accessory in the future. May be what the power inlet is.
wow awesome
I have had mine for almost a year nothing but problems not connecting to the internet probes not working pritty crap!
Thats crazy ours worked fine
What do you think about the camp chef woodwind pro compared to this one?
we gotta get our hands on that still
The Pitts and Spitts from Houston, Texas will blow this one away!
well they are on the way to our store and reviews are coming soon!
Pitts and spitts uses the same controller as Memphis
@@bucketlist2016 Memphis who?
I doubt it. But their hybrid looks cool. For the price they want for the new hybrid, they should have offered a better control system and better look.
@@caseywilson5812 What Hybrid?

Is this or the new flat rock able to be built in to an outdoor kitchen?
Just the timberline. We are getting a flat rock tomorrow and will be shooting the video next week
I bought a pitboss austin at Walmart for $400. I'm using all the savings to buy meat 😋
Nice!

We are testing pitts and spits shortly
Definitely better then recteq
yup
I’m getting ready to buy a Traeger. Do I go with this model or the Timberline?

Basically, everything is only a 3 year warranty except rust through in the main chamber which is covered under a 10 year warranty.
