I’ve seen some comments about “Scott really liked old songs” but 1. It fit the setting quite well with the years introduced. 2. Older songs are in public domain, not under Copyright protection, which is why you’ll hear them so much in odd places or things that would be considered profitable (for example, “pop goes the weasel” is the most common song for wind up music boxes.)
I had a heart shaped music box that played Swan Lake (conclusion) It was pink, with glitter on the lid, I put sticky gems on the outline of the heart (on the lid) to make it prettier. The small ballerina was in a arabesque position, her tutu was light pink with light brown hair. I would play the tune endlessly and try to dance with her, I got rid of it recently as it was very old, dusty and I didn't use it anymore, but the tune will forever play in my head and now I'll see Ballora instead of a human ballerina
When I was a little child, I had been gifted with a small jewelry box with a working wind-up music box inside and a spinning ballerina. For some reason, I never liked the song so I usually kept the box closed. I never understood why I didn’t like the song so much, until a few years later (and a few days ago) when I opened the box and heard it again. The reason I didn’t like it was because it was “Swan Lake: Conclusion” Golden Freddy and Springtrap’s music boxes. It played EXACTLY like the recording shown here. Echo and everything. This realization made a lot of sense 🥲
As a child, I was given a purple music box that had a beautiful ballerina inside. Whenever I opened it, I would dance to the music like the little ballerina did. The music didn't bother me at that age. But once I started enjoying Fnaf, I threw it away immediately. Why? The music that played was 'Serenade', like Shadow Bonnie.
Ballora is by far my favorite animatronic out of everyone. I feel like I've had a jewelry box that played Crumbling Dreams, so... I guess it just attached to me by heart.

They set it to that tone incase they shut down on stage, so it would calm children rather than upset them. I know they sometimes use their music box/sound to scare or warn you their near, but that's just an advantage they have to their abilities. Some choose to use it, and some don't. All of them have one, including the glamrocks, and shadows. I also have this comfort headcannon were sometimes the children are able to free their body out of the animatronic, and play with them (their souls cant leave the pizzeria). Since their all so young they need nap times to be able to perform in the day. So the animatronics comfort them, and let them sleep beside or on them while playing the music as they shut down with them.
