Suede are the greatest UK band since The Smiths. Untouchable genius, still mindblowingly great today. A somewhat self-defeating band, they often left their best tracks to their B-sides - _Sci-Fi Lullabies_ is essential.
Thanks Gazzy for the comment! Yes they are truly unique in there sound and are still going strong! They are still string great songs now and I love the latest album. Hope you enjoyed the video? Anything you would like to see on the channel?
This video is great 👍 I like the way you explain the concepts and demonstrate how they can be applied, rather than just telling us the tabs for this completely banging riff. 😊
Thank you so much, sir! That solved it for me. One of those riffs that seem a bit mysterious at first, but as soon as I got into the strumming pattern it was easier than expected. Keep the great riffs coming!
damn! this has made my day! Your such a great player and content creator! Can't believe your messaging on here. Thanks man. I need to go and watch your vid as I missed it.
@@RiffsRhythm I got recommended the video on my home page so I thought I'd check it out. Glad you like my stuff and thanks! You have a great setup man!

"Beautiful Ones" is the hook song for me in Suede back in the Mid 90s. It was midnight and I was watching MTV when this song played. I was blown away.. I didn't catch the title and was waiting for it to appear again on MTV. As soon as I discovered it I got all their old albums as well and been a fan since then.. I love Suede's guitar works.. the guitar melodies are inside playing with the vocals. I don't know. It's really clever and fun to play. Like Animal Nitrate.. once you know how to play it.. it's loads of fun.. Both Bernard and Richard are great guitar players for the band. Their guitar works are not lazy unlike in Oasis (Oasis even have 2 guitar players but it seems the guitar works are kinda lazy and too basic).. that's why I like Suede more.. I love the Acoustic song "Simon" as well. That song has a good acoustic guitar works. Music wise.. they should be more popular than Cold Play. I guess Cold Play appeals to girls. I don't know.. but Suede seems to have loyal fans.. Lol. Or maybe Suede is kinda underground sounding.
What a great Story! Thanks for sharing. I remember the MTV days and discovering music like this. Your 100% right Suede’s definitely got that loyal fanbase, and it’s probably because they’ve always leaned a bit more alternative or underground compared to Coldplay’s more mainstream sound.
It’s a belter that’s for sure, it always sounds to me that the picking is irregular for this riff which may be just the hammer one but it’s a classic. Also, I always thought Bernard played this. Nicely researched. Thanks Dean.
Hi Craig, thanks so much for the comment. I can't believe Richard Oakes wrote it when he was 17/18 years old. It's a cool chord progressions but then he takes it up another gear with different techniques. Definitely a fun one to play!
it's one thing to come up with something as daft as this, but it's another to be able to play it at speed, and yet another thing to be able to do it to this day
I'd say it was highly rated. It was their second best selling single and was listed the song at number 34 in its list of "The 50 Best Britpop Songs". Sold 200,000 copies and charted 6 countries. I'd love to be that underrated.
Hi Dave, thanks so much for your comment. It was popular track back then It's definitely well known in the niche/genre but this was along time ago. I feel some songs/riffs deserve more attention at the current time. I teach a lot of students guitar ranging from 5-65 years old and many have not heard of this. I feel its underrated now and really feel passionate about showcasing and education people about the 90's. Do you have any riffs in mind that are underrated? Thanks again and I hope you enjoyed the video.
@@RiffsRhythm Love Spreads would be a good lesson. I've not looked through your videos yet so you may have already covered it. It was off the second Stone Roses album. It wasn't underrated though.
Total Guitar tabbed this out back in the 90s. Never forgot how to play it. It is ingrained in my muscle memory! Cracking tune. Trash and this were peak Richard Oakes IMO.
Hey Greg thanks so much for the comment. Its a belta for sure! Out of curiosity, how did I do with the transcription? Yes Trash is another great track. Any other Suede riff should be highlighted to the community?

Suede could be rated the #1 band in the world and they would still be under-rated!
Thanks!

Groovy riff 🍃
Could you do a video on cavorting by the courteeners there’s no one on UA-cam that I can find that has done it and it is a tune👍🏼
I'll add that to the list. "Not Nineteen forever" got me into The Courteeners but haven't really given the whole album a proper spin yet. Great voice!

It's in my list of licks to learn and it's hard for me.
Addictive when you get there. New videos shortly and great ways to practice things so say tuned as this will help
Any chance of a metal mickey lesson
I’ll see what I can do
Bernard Butler is the O.G. ( original guitarist)
As stated in the vid, great player
Way more than a player please
