Feed storage reminds me of Figaro in the milk room at the old place. I loved his antics. 😊💕🐈⬛✝️😞
Good memories of Figaro for sure!
Hi Al and Gina. Just a reminder, full solar eclipse in your area on April 8 around 3:30 pm. Will be interesting to see if the animals react.
Thanks. Yea it will be
This is when you're happy you have Batteries with your solar system. 😊
Find something similar in your area, never look at an Eclipse it causes blindness, Al put Animals in Barn, I assume !?!
Cut from an article; County Tourism Bureau is selling solar eclipse glasses in preparation for the April 8th total solar eclipse.
The NASA-approved glasses may be purchased for $5 for a pack of 6 at the bureau's office
No one builds things better than Al. I love the creativity and determination to get things done. Always a great job. Thanks for showing the animals. Especially Hope and Daisy. All of your animals look very healthy and well cared for. Well done‼️
Great idea having spare parts! Keep them in an area in your new shop, actuators can go out frequently.
It was so nice to see Hope, Daisy and 297 up close. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Hello Crystal, miss you !!
Hi Edman. Miss you, too. Trying to make you a shirt but it's been so darn cold. Hugs. @@homesteadedman4784
I would investigate what the top parts go bad the most often. Maybe purchase a spare of each if not too many.
Good morning Al, Gina, Olivia and all Lumnah friends. Good fix on the outdoor wood stove. So good to see all of the livestock, 297 was still with Hope and Dazey.
Sounds like a summer preventive maintenance thing to take them off and clean them. Each year to prevent this from happening in winter again.
I bet some carb cleaner would work wonders
personally, I feel it failed due to heat building up inside that cabinet area when the fan is between cycles, which is really a design flaw. Those Honeywell controls normally last 20+ years elsewhere.
I would have disassembled the old one to see what failed. Probably a drive gear - plastic deformed from heat like the other gentleman here mentioned. Al is flush with ScrewTube cash so just buys three of everything in sight.
@rupe53 you'reright, heat is not good for actuators.
We had an ice storm in 1994, down here in Tennessee , which left my mom and me without electricity for 10 days. The trees were so weighted down with ice that they took out transformers all over town, green flashes in the sky every few seconds as niight fell. After we lost ours, the house was below freezing and getting colder in 10 minutes. We had to stay in hotels, then when we returned to the house, everyone's power had been restored, except our rental, and the house across the street. A kind neighbor saw me walking aroud outside, and offered the use of their kerosene heater, which allowed us to move back home for the last four nights. I decided that if I ever owned a home, I would have a wood stove to help heat the house every winter, and to serve as the only heat in emergencies. If we'd had one, we could have warmed the house, heated water in pots, and cooked..Lanterns and candles would have given us light. Frozen groceries could have stayed on the back porch in a box, with the ones we would use immediately in an ice chest indoors. Other hacks could be used temporarily, for bathing and bathroom. So it became a big priority to have this backup woodstove and lanterns. Redundancy is great when you need it! It would not have been a waste in years when we didnt lose the lights, because we could have used it for a lot of our heat, and even some cooking, saving on the electric bill, and we'd also have a beautiful fire to look at. You cannot depend on just one system to keep you alive, because systems do fail. The more there is to go wrong, the more likely it is to fail. It's great to have a low tech solution to kick in when the high tech ones go wrong.
Great episode today!! Thanks for showing the animals, I would like to see more of them. I miss the good old routine milking goats, collecting eggs, seeing cats and dogs playing etc
Al, I bet a small heater of some sort would be good to use in the barn while you're working in it. It might warm it up a little in there. I love how you can picture something in your head & make it come to life so to speak.
They have Assorted Heaters already, Electric and Propane, just don't want them in the way, or to hear them when recording !
Hey Al! Just a suggestion; Wire/power up your hotwater tank elements with a heavy duty 240v switch. You could use this as a backup hot water and heat source in an emergency with the way you did your original set-up.
Good morning Al and Gina… just wanted to say that as the OG on your podcast with Ben and Jason… you seem to be an inspiration to them on their builds and repairs around their homesteads. Good podcast and nice to hear you three in a more casual form!
Them guys need to gather their families and brave the cold, visiting Lumnah Acres Yearly, now and next years when coldest !
Al could use their input !
I"m glad your furnace was an easy fix. Take Care ! I LOVE YOU GUYS !! 🥰🥰🥰
I know you and Gina can’t wait to be done with the barn and move onto some new projects
All these years and you still make it fun to watch, thanks for sharing your journey Al and Gina
Thanks for showing the kitty’s. Love them!
Good job. You're learning more every day which really helps with your builds. Enjoy each new project.
Good to have new suppliers who are ready to trade on a weekend, saves wasting time and fuel travelling mile’s away. It’s good to see you have a try it and see attitude about fixing straightforward machines and it will save you thousands by doing so. Good watching your videos as always, keep safe and thanks for sharing.
Good evening Al, Gina, Olivia and all the Lumnah friends
Hey there, Robert! Take 'er easy!
That is going to be a great looking workbench. I'm glad you got your boiler fixed. I rely on my propane heaters to keep me warm in the winter. I'm no longer physically able to haul wood so my wood stove doesn't get used. God bless all y'all.
Things always fail at bad times. Some while ago the actuator on my heating failed at the start of our Easter holiday, a 4 day holiday. With two small children and a freezing snow covered weather forecast the was not good. I found a small store, miles away that had the motor available. I wired the valve open and went off on my two hour round trip. The replacement synchronous motor is still working fine more than quarter of a century later.
Prayers for Julian from Australia! God bless
Gooooood Morning Australia
Hi Al & Gina. Nice repair work on the heating system & good to see more upgrades in the barn.
I bet you will be happy to see that snow vanish. Take care Happy family.
Glad you got the boiler squared away!!!!!!!!!!!! Al you have great ideas!! Good job guys!! Stay blessed all!!
Thanks Eric - hope you and yours also stay blessed!
@@samvalentine3206 Good morning Sam!!!!
This video just proves the reality of Murphy's Law. "If it can will go wrong, it will go wrong, and it will be at the worst possible time." I'm glad you got your part. For me a five minute project usually ends up taking hours out of my day.
it nice here it is 73 and is to be 76 today. loves and hugs from Alamogordo, New Mexico USA
Glad you could get that fixed!! 🎉❤
Might want to do an annual cleaning of the dampers to remove the creosote buildup. But yep having spares on hand is a great idea.
Glad you got the heater fix.
I thought you had another heat source.
You are a smart one .love the videos.
Good morning Lumnah family and friends. Nice job on getting the boiler fixed and running again. Good idea on the next project too. Keep up the great work.
It’s great that you were able to fix your heat. I am dependent on the furnace guy if anything goes wrong.
As long as you are there, order spare pump too. It always goes bad in the middle of the night when it's -20 outside.
Don't ask me how I know...
I power up my spare pumps for a few seconds each couple of months to avoid seizing.
Good morning Al and Gina! Always something to fix!!! Hope its up and running smoothly soon...summer is around the corner! Hugs from N.C..❤
Good to see all of the building. On your workshop be sure to inform (or ask) that you want to put about 20K more tools in the shop You can never have to many tools.
Thats great you got your wood boiler figured out a dealer who would meet and sell you the part ,and its fixed!!!!...all your work and ideas for the barn are amazing...great job..
Yup things break down on Sunday and Holidays , Good you got it fixed
Such a pretty landscape when driving. Smart for extra parts that are available and a place in your new workshop for them to be stored safely. Love love this channel.
I did the exact same thing for casters with a couple of cabinets I picked up for the garage.
One of the more interesting videos in awhile plus glimpses of your animals. More.
Agreed!
We are so glad you got the correct part the first time, an unfortunate rare happening these days.

Great to see the goats and cows again!😊
Can’t wait to see this work/storage bench finished. Good thing you could get the boiler fixed. Love and prayers from NC
Good afternoon from Gatwick wishing you all a very happy day 🎉
So happy you were able to get the part for the boiler even though it was Sunday. I think this table your building is going to be great. Thanks for sharing your ingenuity with us. You are a great creator of things you need. Y'all have a Blessed day. Have fun making the podcast.

I just love Cookie's spectacles.
Wow! No heat! Good idea to keep a spare just in case. Good thinking
Glad you got the part for your big boiler imagine it wld have been very cold tonight… your learning as you go Al which is brilliant…so now your on to the next project…❤
I think many of us would be interested to know if that Honeywell servo is just gummed up and therefore fixable, or if it has failed electrically/electronically - and possibly still fixable.
Great to see all your progress Al and Gina.
@jimparr01Utube I was just jumping on here to express the same sentiment, thought I'd see if anyone else was as curious as me😁 My Grandma was a teen during the depression and instilled that "figure it out & or make do" thinking in me so that I can't just dispose of a thing without trying to fix it or at least know why it did what it did!
I don't think it gummed up, although some annual maintenance isn't a bad idea. I think there's heat buildup in that cabinet between fan cycles.
Great video,
And thanks for sharing. Take care, all the best, and God bless.
Sincerely,
✝️❤️🙏🇺🇸🗽🌊🌊⛴🌊🌊⚓️🙋🏻♂️
Really nice of the boiler dealer to take time to meet with you. In today’s world, they don’t always do that. Did you give him a package of your coffee. Always nice to establish a friendship with someone like that. I have heated with an outdoor boiler for probably 35 years. A spare blower & circulator pump has solved my emergency’s. Bet Gina is anxious to start milking in the barn. If you have enough power, bet she would like a small infrared heated she could turn on over her on cold mornings for a few minutes.
Wow AL, that was a LOT of words on the furnace thing! Good luck with that repair! You’re magic Al, you can do it!
@lumnahacres I have been meaning to ask something for a year or 2....when you did the driveway in front of the tiny house, you laid down larger stones, 5 inches in diameter, and compacted that before adding the finer gravel. Has that made a large difference in the quality of the road? I have not seen you need to re gravel or grade those areas
that first layer of large rock is basically a foundation for the finished layer on top and keeps the fine stuff from just packing into the mud below. It's the same way the DOT builds highways.
Good morning Liz, Al is usually on for the first half hour to answer questions. I think yours is a great one. My son in law built a house on a hill and used the landscape fabric underlayment instead and has had to repair after heavy rainfall a couple of times. From what I can see and remember I do not think Al has had to haul more rock in for that section. Have an wonderful day.
I use my pocket jig a lot. I used it to build the soffit over my kitchenette in the Family room and I'm using it now to pull the casing together for the family room. The trim is 3" wide and 1/2" thick I'm mitering the corners and gluing and screwing them
yes my boiler at home we have many brand-new parts even an entire blower all example waiting to go, very important living in the Northeast that you know about your boiler and how to fix it because sometimes it takes hours and hours sometimes for repair man, and in the Northeast if that's the only heating you got could have big problems. So we have all the extra parts no matter what goals long, and it should be that way with any boiler know how to fix it and keep parts on hand because you never know
Good Morning! It's great when you can fix your own infrastructure. Now if I just had the time to do it all!
Leave the shop door red. Nice contrast
Smart move to order back up damper motores b/c I recall a particular building which we built and managed and practically all damper motors failed in the airhanders (48! AHUs).
That’s no fun
Good morning to you all ❤
That sucks your boiler not working. Glad you got it sorted. Heating is the best invention ever created. I love to be warm. During winter or i can't function with my illness.
Enjoy your day, loads of love ❤❤
Yup heating and A/c. Stay warm
Good morning, Sassi - I'm in total agreement with your views on heating. Hang in there!
Good mornng Sassilou!
Happy you were able to get your wood burner fixed, awesome shoutout to the new dealer on a Sunday!! I see your vision with the workbench, I'd do the same...lol 😂😅 Love ya'll ❤️
Years ago, my husband made a 4x8 work bench and recessed the top 1/4" and put a sheet of sheet rock in the recess. When it got messed up from working on it, he'd flip it over and had a clean surface. When that side got trashed he'd buy a new sheet.
Glad the wood burner was a quick fix! Can’t wait til the next video. This one went by too fast!
Great work today. Would you ever consider buying a bunch of replacement parts for the boiler to keep on hand?
Good Morning Al and Gina ☕️ ✨️ 😊

Good evening everyone!😊

Gooood Morning FORREST from Norm near Cape Cod Massachusetts........It's no joke to lose your heat source in the winter......I lived in an old house ( 1910 ) for years with a wood and coal furnace and luckily never had a problem......Lots of labor though.....
Hi Al, Gina and Miss Olivia.! Yes I would have extra parts around to if it means you'd have hot water and heat. ❤😊 Barn is coming along nicely 😊
In the last video you mentioned that you'd like a sliding wall like the chicken coop for the pigpen. Why not extend the track so you could move the wall from the chickens to make room for the pigpen wall during clean outs?
Brilliant work as always!! So much Ingenuity and creativity, it's as though Al can turn his hand to anything. Hope all is well, take care
Enjoyed watching your video, thankful your heating system is back working properly, now back to building, have a bless day 😊😮🇱🇷💜
Hi AL, wgy not put a 5 gallon bucket below the miter saw for the cut offs
I aquire Broken Shop Vacuum Bottoms, Great trash-can on wheels, holds a-lot, easy to pick-thru !
I agree about Housekeeping, it was how I kept my workspaces, not so much, for how I keep my home tho, so I cannot say, what I actually just said !
Just thought of this while watching your video, are you going to bring back the names of places in your farm? New Yolk city, for one example with the decorations? You could do contests if you wanted to do new names.
That was one of the things that endeared me to your channel long ago....
Yea we need to come up with some names.
@@steved2966 - Nicely said and am in agreement - I concur!
It always amazing how much you have done in such a short. Seems like yesterday it was all woods. Love tour place.
Glad you got it fixed👏👏
LOVE the drone shots. Wow! Your road makers took the term hairpin turn quite literally.
Al, you should do a postmortem on the controller to see what happened. Stripped gear, burned out motor, frozen bearing, electronic circuit failure. Being on a wood burning appliance the sniff test for burned component is not going to work. It's also possible the wire plug was not making good contact and needs to be cleaned.
Al the brass bar is for external damper control. That damper motor powers the majority of dampers in HVAC units. I worked in HVAC for 20 years. FYI you can manually open the damper vane if the motor fails.
Love how you fix things for yourself lots of people could not do that great job AL.
The new dealer is developing a reputation as a new vendor. That would be the cheapest advertisement he could investment they could want. This is why I always shop with a local business if possible. Love your videos always--THANK YOU keep up the entertainment...
