And to add to the playing Troy sings backing vocals in the chorus too!* Its not that obvious as the camera is never focused on him during those parts, but you can hear a soft deeper voice singing with Floor (same melody but lower octave obviously) while Marko sings the "aaahs" in harmony. I always find it fascinating how he swiches from playing to singing as that must really test breath control and involve massive concentration. *not at the same time. Now that woould be a feat!😂
Hi Claire, here a huge NW fan, but also a fan of the legendary Dutch band Focus, with flutist Thijs van Leer. Please react on their song Hocus Pocus in 1971 on the tv show of Gladys Knight. And….after 50 years they are still playing. Floor Jansen is a fan I know. Bye the way….nice reaction. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Hi, Yes I'm a Focus fan too, I've not reacted to that yet, but here's a reaction with the man himself!: ua-cam.com/video/gxEIIW3TpPU/v-deo.htmlsi=ovMbkAM9ESS28hT- Enjoy and have a most flutifull day! 😄
@ Hello Claire. How nice of you to respond. Great that you have already seen Thijs van Leer at Ayreon. I started playing the flute through ( Hocus Pocus) Thijs van Leer, Chris Hinze (Dutch jazz flutist) and the Frenchman Jean Pierre Rampal. Every now and then I take the flute out of the box and play some more. But as good as it used to be...that doesn't work anymore :).
👍 As good as it is to watch your reaction as great pleasure it is to see you enjoying it. Claire and music are 2 sides of 1 medal 👏🎼🎵👍 Thank you for taking my suggestion 🤘😊🤝
That tiny whistle moment strongly reminded me of the TV-series "Brendon Chase" (nobody will remember that one probably, which is fine). Great reaction Claire 👍
Have you ever heard the "The Jethro Tull Christmas Album" (2003). It's my favorite Christmas rock album, which l play every Christmas. There sure are flute quite enough. Of course Nightwish is my favorite of any time. Elan is a Celtic influenced "pop" song with some Troy's flutes. This Buenos Aires 30.9.2018 live concert is excellent in every possible way. And l shot my first moose a little after that. Very sorry about that. ☃️❄️
Hi, yes I sure have and I covered one of the tracks recently, you can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/k8RbJOu21jQ/v-deo.htmlsi=HtW7fVvGZ4O81bsL Wishing you a most Flutifull day! 😄
This note refers to the music video but also the song in general but not spefically this performance. However, there are some worthwhile background notes... One of the things I am always waiting for is Marco's harmonies which are wonderful. This is the 2018 perormance in Buenos Aires so 6 years after she joined (on a temporary basis initially). "Oh, while I live to be the ruler of life, not a slave To meet life as a powerful conqueror, and nothing exterior to me will ever take command of me" WALT WHITMAN This inspiring quote by Uncle Walt was the starting point for "Elan". The song is all about the meaning of life nothing more, nothing less - something that is different and unique to us all; about cliffs unjumped, paths less travelled. "Élan" is an apt teaser for the forthcoming album without actually revealing anything about its true nature. NIGHTWISH PRESS RELEASE, DECEMBER 8, 2014 VILLE LIPIÄINEN: We originally planned to shoot a video for "Edema Ruh", but the decision to do "Élan" instead was made almost on the fly. One thing led to another, things got out of hand, and in the end, "Élan" became quite of an epic. It's a homage to classic Finnish actors, old, abandoned places that once were full of life, and the miracle and uniqueness of life. The idea was to choose a legendary Finnish actor or actress to accompany each Nightwish member in six different locations around Finland. Finally, the band were also shot against green screen, so all in all, there were a total of twelve shooting days. I think that's the Finnish record what comes to making a music video. At some point, I got the idea to get an owl for the video - the owl had been the Nightwish emblem ever since "The Sacrament of Wilderness" single in 1998, after all - so without further ado, we casted an owl called Urho who lives in the Ähtäri zoo. We built a green screen for him in a local school gym, where his wrangler and a vet were co-directing our star. I wanted to have footage of Utho flying majestically across the skies, but Urho turned out to be a bit of a rock star. He paid no attention to our coaxing and food offers and flew only when he felt like flying. I kept the cameras running pretty much the whole time, and in the end, we had hours and hours of material of Urho scowling, shaking his head at us, and looking totally pissed off. After two days, we finally managed to get a shot we wanted, and those seconds became the flying scene on the video. Oh, how we rejoiced, when Urho finally raised his wings and took off!
@@NickBR57 Walt Whitman, Henry David Thoreau (My Walden), Edgar Allan Poe ... In my opinion Tuomas has a special heart to refer to literature (and science). Thank you for the interesting insight ! Troy gets some specific attention on this channel because of the wind instruments, but we know he does more (E-bow, singing, 'Auri', ...). NW, all the folks that are involved creating their wonderful and mesmerizing projects deserve appreciation and respect - even the owl 😊👏👍

What the hell how come I love the low whistle so much it just moves my soul and he plays the Irish bag pipes to which are so beautiful 🙂
