So you guys kept asking for me to fly the Mig-21 so here it is, I will admit I don't quite have a good handle on the Mig yet its going to take some learning but I will say that I had a lot of fun with it, planning on doing a lot more Mig-21 content in the future. Thank you all for your suggestions and your on going support with the channel.
Wishing for an F-104 to put against the MiG-21
Good dogfight, despite all other jets I own in DCS, Mig-21 is still my favorite. Perhaps all the challenges with this jet create a perfect mix of immersive experience.

The first half of this battle is like a boy fighting its grandfather without realize him is a retired assassin.
The IAF MiG21 Bison is a generation ahead of the Bis. It is integrated with the R77, R73 probably even the Israeli Derby ER and the Python 5. The pilots also have a HMD.

It’s a different radar than the Bis.

I really like how you take on the lesser aircraft to show that every airframe has its advantages, but most importantly, the pilot makes the difference.
Literally the point. GS is just an overall better pilot.
Hence proved, a upgraded old jet with a good pilot and slight size advantage can be deadly to a much more modern jet under a lot of conditions. In the end pilot skills matter the most, given the machine itself is not like stone age.

Btw, you can uncage the PL-5 missile seaker in the Jeff by pressing the T2 DGFT missiles designator controll button. So it will slew its seaker to the bandit when you pick him up on the radar.

Your situational awareness is incredible. How to improve spotting of other planes? I'm truly struggling with this. Most of the concepts of the fight itself (BFM, 1-circle, 2-circle, Immelmans, Split-S'es, scissors, reversals etc) I have a pretty firm grasp on... but I just can't see/find shit in DCS! Without labels, I had difficulty spotting a friendly frogfoot trying to fly formation with me, offset to the side by .5-1 nm... I'm _terrible_ at acquiring planes visually. Any tips for improving this?

well tbh jf17 is another version of mig21f（J7）lmao，（but only very very very few things are the same，however，it is still based on J7-2）
Interestingly, modern Indinan Mig-21s are modified to have MFDs, Better radar, and can fire R73s.
Put the Adder missiles on the MiG-21 and see if the opponent survives.
Mig-21 is a formidable aircraft. That is why even after 50 years, it is still flying, and doing a fairly good job.
No not really, you primarily use it for ground attack missions now.

You frequently talk about flying the bandit’s flight path, when you do tac view could you explain how to get there? Pull less? Barrel roll to move from inside the circle to the flight path, manage your speed with a high yo-yo? A bit “hot to” would really recommend the excellent “what to” analysis.

In real life, an Indian MIG 21 shot down a PAK F-16.
They didnt. There was no wrack of a F-16 and the USA counted all F-16 in the pakistan fleet. No F-16 is missing.

@Luke Wilson lol read first. We displayed AMRAAM fragments within 12 hours of the skirmish. The F-16 is the only jet in the PAF fleet to use them lol. They have also mentioned the use of F-16s in their war memorials lmao

Thing about the Jeff is, at least in DCS, if you've gotten into a dogfight, you already fucked up. Even if you maneuver correctly, it's gun is trash and it's fox-2's are unreliable at best. You really need to use the SD-10, which is insanely good, to deal with air threats before they get close to you.

DCS is aviable for Win10 only
While I agree JF-17 is a superior aircraft to Mig-21bis, the India Mig-21 is however "Bison" standard. It is the most modernized version of Mig-21 ever created. It is capable of carrying R73's and R77's and has high off bore sight capabilities. So I dont think the Mig21 in game is really an accurate representation of the one flown by Indian Airforce.

@Musa Ahmad I know and I agree. I'm not claiming Indian Mig is better than JF-17. All I was saying was that Indian Mig has much more advanced capabilities than what is represented by the plane in-game.
Actually the MiG-21Bis is a accurate representation of the ones flown by the india airforce in the past. India bought them once and updated them to the BISON standard.
@@Mike_Romeo True. But those older variants wouldn't fight JF-17 either. The current BISON variant that fought JF-17 was a lot more advanced than the "classic" Mig21 that everyone knows.
Offcourse not really a match for the proper 4th Gen JF-17 but still quite capable for its age.
