Nice result John being cold when fishing is probably the worse feeling ever but to win the match makes the sacrifice worth it look forward to the next video 👍
Hi Jon, nice result on a nasty day I bet you were satisfied with that! With that perch prize on offer I’m surprised you didn’t put some chopped lobworms in ok they are not cheap but I find they often outfish dendro’s by a big margin! That old pole may be battered but I wish I could afford it! Looking forward to your next outing regards Bill
I actually wish I'd fed casters down the side for the perch as thats what I like to catch them on commercials, but thought id experiment with a maggot-only attack. Lobs are ok. Carp love them too however!
Jon Arthur Angling Thanks for your thoughts. On Whiteacres I was told to fish casters and fed two swims. One with casters the other with choppy with 3/4 lob on the hook. Your right the carp did love lobs as did the big perch, on the caster fed line loads of smaller fish and carp and a few perch but not big ones! Guess I’ve got to do more experimenting . On my local river caster and chopped lobs with a big worm on the hook works best but I guess all waters are different. That’s the fun of fishing for me, learning new stuff all the time Regards Bill
There are no rights and wrongs and yes I would always be armed with big worms on a river, but on commercials I seem to catch more big perch on maggot and caster after much experimenting. And it also keeps me catching whereas you can be sat waiting too long with a more selective worm. Worms seem to 'blow' very quick on commercials for the species, and the big perch soon wise up. Double caster is my favourite big perch hook bait.
Nice vid and the matrix boys are looking strong with yourself and the carp bagging mashie jamie hughes wot size top kits are thay look.like a small 18mm bore
john balsa wood been following the map vids with Jamie Hughes so my wife bought me 13m map 101 thinking map was the best then next minute he’s in Matrix gear fishing with Matrix tackle what a crock lol don’t suppose he would give a old 72 year old his old map tackle haha
Nice one Jon, very good win i was watching the last half hour of a silverfish only match at my local commercial the other day, noticed everyone just had the one keepnet and i thought thats something i could do....dont fancy matches where you need at least 2 keepnets. Looks like maggots and casters would be the best bet for these matches. In this were you using 3 different groundbaits all mixed together? i noticed one was specifically for Bream, looks like thats what helped to catch you those Skimmers...probably made the difference in winning you the match.
I have never seen this kind of fishing before. Very interesting. What are those extension rods made from? Those maggots sure look yummy. You battled the weather and won.
Congratulations Jon on a excellent win in such bad conditions .
As always Jon thanks for the upload.
You did very well that day Jon ! Lovely Skimmers !

Great video
Enjoyed that ... would have enjoyed it more if the result wasn’t in the title lol
well done- i feel cold watching this
Better to be sat inside watching than outside shivering ha ha
Love these vids mate, but where you leave your landing net between fish plays havoc with my ocd tendencies🙂

Yes one mix which was equal parts Dynamite Baits Black Swim Swim, Milled Expander and Fishmeal Bream.
Well done Jon, nice approach testing the feed at 6m left & right..
Catch much on the banana!? :)
Great vid again Jon Bananarthur 😂
Ha ha!

Maggots yummy ???? r u serious..
Hi Jon I enjoy your videos so thank you for taking the time.
How do you paint your topkits?
Just white matt primer after a light buff down 👍
With a silver only contest are you allowed to keep what carp you catch in a separate keepnet to minimise the number in your swim?
Not on most venues I fish
Legend
Super
Thanks
How are you finding the matrix tackle , notice you have still the white pole top kits .
I was still using my battered old pole in this video... but I now have a shiny new Matrix MTX4 for the next one I do! :-)
