This guy is a professional builder, the cowboys out there wouldn’t broadcast their work. Great informative content and the end result reflects the quality of workmanship that’s gone into it. Well done mate and thanks for uploading the video. Onwards and upwards.👍
I wish most builder in the Uk would have so much knowledge, but they do a rubbish job. Really nice and knowledgable video. Thanks for the trade secrets.
I don't think its an issue with a lot of builders lacking knowledge, I think it's a lot of people would rather get a cheap "tradesman" in instead of paying for someone who takes pride in their work.
I was about to reply the same thing. So many times I hear I’ve lost out on a job because I was too expensive to hear months later the customer was unhappy with the tradesman they ended up going with. People should do some research into past work, ask to go and have a look at their current job.
@Tucker Believe me you're right everyone in east of London is mostly a builder so even if somebody doesn't build a trade they just claims themselves as a builder because of the amount of money which they earn it's just crazy

The idea of using bolts as levellers is genius! Pretty rock solid too. I thought you may have put a washer between the top of the wood and the top nut but you obviously know what you're doing. This would be ideal for a tiny home build.
I think the fact he didn't use a washer was so the nut "bit" into the wood, allowing it to sink flusher and provide a natural means of locking the nut. Either that or he forgot to put the washers in the van 🤣

Love the build quality especially the foundation. A couple of suggestions: 1. Use tension straps to tie timber clad box section header piece down to wall, 2. Do a full warm deck roof, i.e. put you insulation over the 18mm OSB, you can put 2nd osb layer down if you want for fitting rubber roof to. The main problem with your roof is the due point always occurs in the insulation, where the warm air meets the cold air. If you have insulation in the timber roof structure then you'll get rot eventually. There is no cold bridge in warm deck and it leaves you with loads of space for services.

@@jcoul1sc I think the issue is doing it that way reduces the internal ceiling height by 100mm making the room too low for comfort. Max allowable external elevation is 2.5m if building is within 2m of a boundary.

Solid job. Did a 7m x 4m shed with pitched roof which makes the room very airy and light. Flat roof looks a bit oppressive for an office. Threaded rod x 3 to hold the walls together and all lighting attaches to it. Also pitched roof offers the chance to do overhangs for storing stuff behind and outside seating in front. Sheds been up twenty years or so and still looks great. Your base will still be there when the house gets bulldozed - best one I've seen.

I’ve just built a office in the garden for my wife, I’m a plasterer mainly but general builder too. The one I built is not even half the size of that, quality build with insulation, breathable membrane, plaster boards electrics etc but this has a few more steps than I did. Anyway, my point being, mine cost about a £1500 on materials and about 2 weeks work on my own, this, with the quality and amount of materials must of cost a fortune!!!! Top, top build though mate it’s great when you’ve got a customer that’s prepared to pay for a quality job and quality materials!!!
Diary of an Alcoholic - Recovered as I’m in the trade I do get a lot of materials a lot cheaper than your high street places like Wickes, Travis etc....... it’s just good mates from smaller independent builders yards I’m afraid. I know how much more expensive corporates are mate, for example I get 18mm structural Ply 2.4 x 1200 for £20 a board, that is about £45 a £50 in Wickes etc.......best thing I can recommend (don’t know where you are) find the smaller merchants and if you support them they’ll always help you out on price. Good luck with the build 👍🏻
I love this! I'm going to have it replayed multiple times when I get to building another backyard project hopefully, but have a question about wood movement: I built a large mancave last year with dried timber. As I did the work in the middle of summer I assumed that the wood had expanded all it would so built everything very tight, but when winter came and rain fell on it a couple of spots in the outer cladding had swellings. The cladding I used was supposedly dried and suitable for external use but it still swelled. The front not so much as I had two layers of protective stain/paint on it. So my question is, how do you account for wood expansion and shrinkage when building such a meticulous project? I can see you're fitting things very neatly which I love to do, is there a guide for non-carpenters you can direct me to to learn about it? Many thanks!
Technically perfect. Only flaw? ALWAYS leave yourself at LEAST a metre between the back and any obtruction/boundary fence for future access/maintenance to both the boundary fence and rear of the garden office. Alas it's usually the customer gets what the customer wants. Excellent example of true tradesman. Thanks from Scotland.
I have been working 10years as a builder have many ways to build a garden office but this is one of kind and it's one o one in trems of strength and quality

Plastering wood work tiling altro flooring laminate flooring electrics concreting screeding.when doing multi trade work like we do there's not enough hours in the day. Thanks for your time uploading videos. It's great to see a good construction being done. All your jobs look fantastic.

Look at the size of the garden, I think they have a few coins to rub together...
Well good 👍. Good video , well presented , loads of trade secrets , must get them lots of work . Excellent.
I'm curious to know how much something like this costs as I'm thinking of having something very similar done.
Harry Wraith I think you would be talking in the £15k to £20k region for a build to this standard.
I would have said maybe in excess of £20k with those bifolds but they did save a lot on that roof option
i so wish i had your skill and knowledge. excellent video
I love this! I'm going to have it replayed multiple times when I get to building another backyard project hopefully, but have a question about wood movement:
I built a large mancave last year with dried timber.
Awesome job. Really impressed by this quality build
nice video. great craft skills, no short cuts and well engineered. nice to see. thanks.
Yeah how many teabags does a job like that use?

With the accent I’d say he is from one of the outlying town around Manchester.
Close, he’s a hour away in Leeds. Oakwood Garden Rooms in Roundhey, Leeds.
Wow. The workmanship is exceptional. When I win the Lottery you guys will be building my home office/leisure centre/bolt hole.

Great Vid. I am about to go self employed building these for customers. Love the attention to detail you have given this building. Where are you based - I am in East Anglia.
Brilliant stuff, great workmanship and video
Impressive job, looks great
I may have been over ambitious expecting to see him create this in 33 mins real time... But fair play, some excellent work went into that. Built to perfection with zero corners cut.
You should do that for a living it’s pretty good
