1/8th Scale Garbage Truck + Custom Mini Bins
Вставка

- Here it is, the project/video I have been working on for a while now, a scale model of an 18m³ GenV. I decided to put fitting Veolia signage on it of #71114 - I think it turned out great! (Of course, #71114 would not empty a load of garbage at the tip, and it does not collect garbage in Glenorchy, but I don't have a scale recycling centre yet!)
The truck is not perfect, it has some differences when compared to the real truck. Most notably, it is not hydraulic but rather controlled by servo motors and Arduinos. The grabber and arm is my 'version' if you like of a Bucher GenV/Gen6 grabber. The body is also modelled after a Bucher body, however there are some differences because I did not have the tools available to me.
The body, cab and chassis are all made of 1.6mm steel. I did all the welding and fabrication myself. The seam on the body is where the two pieces of steel meet on the back - I would definitely do this differently next time! The arm, grabber, bumper, mudguards and the mini bins (only the Brickwoods and the 140l Mastec) are 3D printed. I once again designed all the parts myself.
Here are some things that I wish to do to the truck in the future:
- Controller that allows all the controls to be used by one hand, instead of them being separate on the cab.
- Steering servo and DC drive motor, making it fully remote controlled.
- Euro 5 Acco sunvisor, exhaust stack and snorkel.
- Fuel tank, air tanks and storage boxes.
- Rollers and more reach on the extend/retract function (not shown in this video).
- Tidier wiring.
- Interior and paint touch up.
- Work lights.
- Redo tailgate.
I hope you enjoy this video, a lot of effort went into it and I am quite proud of the results! I would like to do another video in the future, and do a better job of filming.
Cheers!
Excellent job! Truck and the bins came out great! You did a great job on the fab work. Can't wait for more vids of it in action.

Haha yea, might need to figure out how to slow it a bit 😂 Cheers!
@@TassieGarbo it’s basically 10x the speed it should be
Nice video mate where did you get the bins from?

What material are the bins made out of? I love the truck btw 🔥
Cheers mate! They are plastic, the 3D printed ones are PLA.

Cheers mate! A lot of time and trial and error!
Can I buy it?
Where’s ya get this yellow mini bins??
Got em from Sulo, I'm not sure if they make them anymore. They had them on their website.
@@TassieGarbo ah ok, any tips on 3d printing the bins?
@@GP500 I did the designs myself in CAD, but I find that splitting the models up and printing in parts works well (the top of the brickwood is glued).
@@TassieGarbo ah ok i see. Any way to get working moving lids? I’m very interested in all this! 😂
@@GP500 I've tried a couple of different methods - one is to use M4 bolts that bolt throught the lid (like lid pins, and I print the lids separately), which is used on the 140l Mastex in the video. I have also tried to use a clip on lid like other mini bind which is what the brickwood uses. I found the bolts better as they are more durable but they are also heavier and more expensive.
if you ever sell any of the bins or trucks I will definitely buy one please let me know
I will mate!
did you built this yourself ?
Sure did mate!
@@TassieGarbo wow this is so cool
@@recycleman975 Cheers mate!

Hey mate that looks awesome, would you be interested in making some custom brickwood bins if so is there any way i can contact you?
Cheers mate! Sure would, they might be a while as I have some problems to fix with the 3D printing. Have been trying to figure out the bedt way for contact - any suggestions? Cheers!
@@TassieGarbo all good mate, you could start a generic email address you use for business and leave it at the bottom of your description?
@@Lucky-dy2pb Great idea! I'll do it first thing tomorrow!
@@Lucky-dy2pb Email is set up! Have it in the 'about' section of the channel.
