Thank you for the extra tips for those of us who are DIY and don't have all the tools! Very thoughtful and helpful tutorial! Thank you!
You’re welcome buddy
I dropped a chase lounge on my floor trying to bring it into my home and the steel leg gouged my floor.
This video was straightforward and made replacing the damaged plank A BREEZE. Thanks for the knowledge!
That is great, thank you for sharing
Your instructional video was EXACTLY the right advice. I used it on our Luxury Vinyl Plank floor and it turned out great. I used a heavy duty cut out tool to make the cuts instead of the small circular saw. Thanks for saving our floors and incurring some big $$$'s to have a pro come in and do it.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. It is comments like this that keeps me motivated to do these videos
As always, thank you for the pro tips and hands-on demonstrations.
You’re welcome buddy , thank you for watching
Good job like always. Just a little tip that will help with those corners, so you have less chance of cutting into the other board. Take a drill and drill a hole in each corner. This way you see corner better and the hole will stop the knife blade from going into the other board.
That’s brilliant, thank you sir
Roland, What a great idea! I'll be doing that on my current plank repair!
Hey Roland you have a company to hire I need several planks repaired?
Man. I literally just scratched a piece of lvp I did yesterday, in the middle of the floor of course. I've never had to do a repair before and was looking for a video from you to see if you had a repair vid. Thanks Ruben. ✌
Well it sucks that you damaged it but at least you had some kind of reference to go by, hope everything works out good for you
@@FloorsbySouthernboys Yea I picked up a staple in my boot from another room and stepped off the cardboard we had covering the finished piece and scratched the crap out of it. 🙄 Another great video from FBSB. ✌
@@MattyWill1 That happens sometimes I am always really particular about checking my shoes when I’m doing stuff like that, especially scraping pad Staples and stuff they are the worst about getting stuck in your shoes
That little dewalt circular saw looks very handy. Going to put that on my wish list!!
You can hook a vacuum to it and it is so clean working with that in someone’s house
Love this video. Was able to follow along step by step.
FBSB is OUT For REAL this time huh? That chip has taken a lot of folks out in one way or another. Props for giving it a go.
This and part 2 are really good 👍🏻
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it
Brilliantly done mate and many thanks indeed 😊🌈 cheers Andrew UK
Thank you sir
@@FloorsbySouthernboys Hi no worries you did a great job at explaining the procedure so keep up the good work when you can, all the best Andrew 😊
This is super helpful - thank you for making the video. I am going to have a go - I have a question though in case you still are responding. The plank I need to replace is actually an "end piece" or otherwise one that has one end butting against another board and the other edge is tucked up under the edge trim coping. Does the replacement process for a board that isn't in the middle like your example change? Fingers crossed that its easier....
Thank you, I have one board that's just popping up destroying the next, the installers, disappeared 8k later and I'm gonna try this myself❤
Well, that sucks about your installers, good luck. I’m sure you can do it just fine.
I did this on February 27, 2024 and you have to measure exactly half way so that all the angles line up properly. The angles on the ends should not be "about 4 inches", they should all be closer to 2 inches from the end at exactly the same angle. You need to remove the end pieces in order to provide enough clearance of the interlocking edges of the main piece, so that it can be removed. DON'T CUT THE WIDEST TAB ALONG THE LONGEST EDGE. ON THE OPPOSITE LONG EDGE, the small overlap must be cut off on a slight angle towards the plank, going downwards. ( I used a new sharp chisel) It's a good idea to support the area you will be chisling away with a long piece of wood with a nice square edge to support your cut. Alternately with more effort you can file the entire edge down with a medium file but hold the file at right angles to the plank. A smale plane can also be used on slight angle. ( Uh-hum#%) After you make these 48 plus cuts, you should run a file over the area to take off any missed high spots. Next very important, on the narrow end, with protruding tab, the upwards last bit of material that protrudes past the wood finish, must be removed (About 1/8 inch wide) Cut it off using a fine tooth hack saw (20 teeth per inch) just on the inside of the locking profile. Use the bottom of the profile as a guide. Try to leave as much of the horizontal tab area as possible. When fitting the plank keep in mind that it is going to possibly drop in and become difficult to remove if it can not be fitted down far enough. I used a piece of string under the corner of each end as I checked the fit of each opposite end. After checking each end for fit, you can remove the string and it kind of snaps into place. I heard a few snap noises and it went right in flush. Make sure you vaccuum often for all and any debris before your final snap in.
Technically correct. Good video for DIY person. Video is lengthy and it’s frustrating to watch then have to watch part 2 tho.
Sorry just trying to get all the details in there
Vinyl floor autopsy.
😂
I have the same kind of flooring and a new built. I have at least over 45 separations at the ends of the boards. In most of the house. What to do? 🤨
@@debbiebranidis5980 unfortunately if you’re having problems like that, a quick fix will not take care of it. But for the quick fix, I would drop some superglue in the cracks and kick them back together.
Put part 2 link in end screen, I almost looked for another video
Awesome! 👍
Thank you sir
Guys, great knowledge share. I screwed up & ruined one of my planks after I had just installed the floor. This method of repair worked perfectly. Thank you!
Question though considering doing same floor in my other bathroom (master). Do you have any experience with heated vinyl planks with a system called Quiet Warmth?
Says its for vinyl floors & will not go any higher than 85 degrees
Thank you for using the actual American Flag in your logo bro.
Why this floor seem like a 6mm laminate and not vinyl ? Apart from that…. Did I missed the part of repair? 😢 I saw removal
Because this was such an in-depth video I had to split it in two parts so it was not a super long video. Here is part two that has the actual plank installation

It would have been nice to hear you. Putting the camera close to a subject or use a wireless mike in youtube videos are a must. Hear, Hear!!
Thanks for this video. It was really detailed and helpful!
Have you ever had to repair a plank that is adjacent to a previously repaired plank? Is it possible to release the plank from the glued seam, or do I have to replace all the adjacent planks? Thanks again!!
Probably be better to replace any of that has Glue because it will break the boards getting them apart
Good job on repairing the floor but next time your audio needs to be better? I can’t hear you.
Sorry
Where's part 2

Thank you for the video. I have a gouge in the middle of my floor I installed 6 months ago. Some spots of the floor are not fully level. Will that be an issue if the floor moves very slightly when walked on? I believe the gouged area is level with no movement. Like 99% of my floor. But I just want to make sure that if it’s not great that this will still be okay. Thank you!
Yes this will be just fine, Definitely recommend using the same brand of super glue that are used in this video
Awesome video! Would this work if I was replacing 2-3 boards side by side? Managed to spill CLR on my floor and bubbled the flooring :(
Yes it will
Thank you!!
Well done! Just one suggestions...adjust the transition music at the end so as to not cause deafness in the viewers. 🙂
THANK YOU
Can you tell me what to look for in vinyl plank flooring for my rental. I don’t want to make a mistake buying something that won’t last. So little info out there. I know the wear surface should be at least 12 mil.
For a rental property you will be really good doing life proof from Home Depot
How to replace herringbone LVF that are damaged in center of floor with 4 lock system?
Can you buy a single piece of vinyl flooring from the box stores 🤔
I don’t think so
Where is part two? Sorry I can't find it
I’m sorry I just uploaded that last night, I will get part two up tonight
Do you have a video on doing stretch in carpet on rounded steps?
I don’t think so, that will be a good one though, I will keep it in mind to do so
Not yet
Will this help buckling too. Mine is buckling at the seams.
If it is buckling like that it is probably going to be an issue around the perimeter of your flooring, it is probably cut in too tight you can probably remove your trim and cut a proper expansion gap around the edges using an osculating saw and it will lay down flat.
Any tips when it's a small area, like 4 or 5 pieces? I have a high spot in the subfloor I want to address. Just imaging trying to remove a few planks when it's staggered. Fortunately it's a couple feet away from a wall, not a parallel wall, but a wall nonetheless.
I will do a video on it
@@FloorsbySouthernboys Much appreciated!

Hi I have a problem. My new vinyl floor sections 1 1/2 foot wide and maybe about 1/4 in deep in three spots dips. Is there anyway to repair without pulling up the the entire hallway. Is there a way to just fix those 3 sections. I have baseboard in the hall but the problem is not at the baseboards.
Yes you can just pull out your plank such as demonstrated here ,level your floor with some of your patch and reinstall your plank as demonstrated here
Do you have a method of repairing a plank where the short side has creased?
Hi, do I do the same tactics for multiple planks that are damaged in a same row?
Yes for the most part, if they are touching one another then you do not have to trim all of the ends off, you can just see what fits in and then decide what needs trimmed off
Thank you sir 👍
How would you replace this floor board if damaged again?
How do you put the board back in?
ua-cam.com/video/enTXWdpEl_c/v-deo.html
What about flooring that has pad under it?
Same process, just put a waterproof tape such as duct tape over the cuts that you create in the pad
When you gonna make the video to put the plank back? Thanks
Working on it now, if I don’t get it tonight it will be up tomorrow evening
@@FloorsbySouthernboys thank you so much sr for do this for us

@FloorsbySouthernboys sorry didn't see it, and thank you! Great video
Watch pt 2 first . This shows nothing on the actual replacement
what color brown or item id # is that LVP?
Why is it titled vinyl.
Whats up with the laminate repair vids , the sound seems to be bad on all of them
thats not how you replace 1 piece dude.
😀👍
I did this with wood laminate flooring and the new piece would not fit because it was too tight. (Even though I cut the tongue grooves off some sides)!!
👍🏻
😀👍
I can barely hear you. Volume almost off.
I’m sorry
My apartment complex is charging me more than $1k because of two vynil planks that were damaged.
Oh snap, that’s awful as you can see it’s a pretty easy repair
Rebecca, they're trying to basically get all new flooring it sounds like, trying to rip you off. Best to hire an honest handyman to repair it, but you'll need the same flooring, which may be tough.
I hope it worked out somehow for you- I see this is from 10 months ago. Wishing you the best

What? Huh? I CAN'T HEAR YOU
Then turn up the sound
This guy likes to hear himself talk... two fifteen minute videos
How do you get the plank back in?
ua-cam.com/video/enTXWdpEl_c/v-deo.html
Balance your sound please. Had to turn up the volume when you were talking but then JUMPED the crap out of me at the end when the music played. Headphones on.
😂😂sorry buddy
We can't hear you!!!!!!
Turn your volume up, the audio is not perfect but you can definitely hear it
Geeze bro turn your microphone volume up.
can't hear you
Sometimes you kinda sound like Ray from the Princess and the Frog movie
What’s the point of the video.
Can't even hear you, my man.
Your audio absolutely sucks, you may as well not even be saying anything it’s so quiet
Wait wouldnt the hard part be locking a new piece back in to 4 fins at once?
Actually one of the boards adjacent to the one you removed has a large chip off the corner.
Can't hear you
