      i want to ask you, does extending the zoom out compromize the water resistance of the flashlight ? thanks

    • @Grimes907
      @Grimes907 3 роки тому +1

      The charging port is covered by the part which zooms in and out but the port is indeed exposed when it's zoomed out, and completely covered when zoomed in. I've used mine in the rain many times without issue, always making sure the charging port is facing down when zooming out in the rain. But honestly I don't think it's a problem unless the whole flashlight were to get submerged in water or something. If it were raining extra hard you could always cover the charging port with something, it's tiny.
      I've had mine since 2018 and it still works just as good as the day I got it with the original battery that came with it. You really can't go wrong.

    I have 3 of them. 1st is about a year and a half old, charger plug no lo ger works. Pretty durable.
    2nd one 9 months old, charging plug pulled completely out.
    3rd 2 months old, magnetic came out of tail cap, hole 2 big.
    They do have a warranty. If you registered it and if you have the receipt.

How's it holding up so far? Hows the battery life? And whats your Edc flashlight? Thanks bro keep up the good content🤙🏼✌🏼

      Hey thanks for watching! I think it’s a great work light because its kit too expensive and I wouldn’t be too mad it it got damaged, lol. The run time is ok, not fantastic. My current EDC is the Olight S1R Baton II. It’s a great light but a little pricey. If you want an excellent EDC/work light check out the Nicron N7. I did a video on it not too long ago, and they’re only like $15. 👍🏻👍🏻

    Thanks brotha. Glad you like it for everyday use and sorry you could not find an edc use. I totally understand the need to save space though. I just purchased the next model up with the proprietary charging dock (really against that already...) but you can also use usb directly. I'll let you know how it is. Retails for $39.99 but i found it for $33.00 on ebay. Thanks again!

      Yeah man, I have to take Subscriber recommendations seriously and I aprreciate the suggestion! I obviously can’t afford to buy everything that everyone recommends, but this was a great price and I didn’t see any other reviews of this light on UA-cam. If you type in “Nebo Redline Flex” in the search bar my video is like the 4th or 5th that comes up, and 2 of the others are from NEBO themselves, so I figured people would like this review since it’s the only dedicated review I can find on this exact light. I carried it a couple times and may EDC it from time to time just to change things up, but I know it will get A LOT of use around the house. Thanks again!

    • @Slithh
      @Slithh 5 років тому +1

      I use mine daily and def around the house and out. But there are a few things I don't like. I don't care for the square beam when zoomed in. It literally shows the shape of the LED bulb lol. Kind of funny but annoying. The magnet is cool but if you are working around computers or delicate electronics you could fry them. I do like the side switch rather than a butt switch and it seems fairly sturdy. I don't like the USB port under the bezel although it seems to be holding up ok. Time will tell. I think the next model up is going to be rather useless but I was curious and had $33.00 burning a hole in my pocket... Like I don't need ammo or new sights or targets or new guns or...…..

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 років тому +1

      Yeah, it’s not perfect but for $22 it’s a good buy. I told another subscriber that it would make a great gift item for someone who isn’t a flashlight enthusiast, and I may do a progress report video on a couple months to see how it holds up because it will get banged around in my kitchen drawer and will get used frequently.

    80 lumens for low is pretty stout! Maybe you mentioned it, does it have an indicator for when its fully charged (or when its running out)? Sure would be a good light to have in the car with that magnet and floodlight.

    NEBO seems to have some innovative designs but zero traction on social media. This was the only serious independent review I was able to find on UA-cam. I don't see anyone EDC'ing their stuff on Instagram. So I don't know if they're vastly underrated, or are just as cheap quality as their prices indicate.

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 років тому +3

      That’s a fair point, my friend. Thanks so much for watching. I think it’s a combination of a few things. In my limited experience Nebo seems to function just fine and as advertised. They also have some very interesting designs for very specific uses, although some would call them “gimmicky”, or like an “As Seen On TV” type light. I think their work lights, like the “Big Larry” are great. When you start to compare their flashlights to other budget brands like Sofirn, ThorFire, Lumintop, etc. I think Nebo loses the cost to performance battle. Another thing that turns a lot of people off is that a large portion of Nebo’s offerings are zoomable flashlights. I think some people like this feature, but spending time in some flashlight forums most “flashlight people” tend to look at zoomable flashlights as a joke or novelty because the beam pattern always suffers when zoomed all the way in. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to have Nebo lights around the house, in the garage, etc. They would serve me well I’m certain. As for EDC, I think there’s too many options that are superior in quality, performance, and at lower prices. That’s my best guess as to why you don’t see them EDC’d as often. Sorry for the long winded response. Lol. Thanks again for watching!

    • @Grimes907
      @Grimes907 3 роки тому +1

      Nebo makes excellent flashlights. I don't think they need social media to sell their products, seemingly they prefer offer them more readily in places where people pay attention to quality survival gear, like Alaska, and let word of mouth do the leg work for them.

    I actually own the iprotec Twyst.( Iprotec is nebos other label ) ... Extremely small and light.. it's a angle light but twist and becomes a regular straight flashlight...500 lumens on high continuously for 1 hour!! Nebo has this same twyst light ..but nebos has 1000 lumen turbo but only for 40 seconds then cuts down to 250.... I would rather have the iProTec with the continuous 500 lumens for 1 hour. Also the IProTec uses a standard.usb .... The Nebo model requires a special cord

    Never heard of them... looks to be feature rich for its price... curious as to how it'll hold up over time... could be a great option to throw in the wifes glove box, so I dont have to worry about her loosing one of my expensive lights...

    • @GearedTowardGear1
      @GearedTowardGear1  5 років тому +1

      It certainly is rich on features for $22, but you’re right, only time will tell how it holds up long term. And you’re right, it would make a great “wife” light or a cheap gift for someone who isn’t a flashlight enthusiast. I know my wife loses stuff constantly so I’d be happy giving her one of these, lol. I may do a follow-up video in a couple months to revisit the light and give a progress report. Cheers buddy!

      I just bought one from local gun store, i dont usually carry a light (use my phone light) but its for sure much better with the extra, high and low setting + the strobe. I've always had AA battery lights so its a huge upgrade, no idea about the durability though. But its 10x better at $20 to my other $5 pocket lights

    • @GearedTowardGear1

      Thanks for watching! I’m glad you like it, it’s definitely rich in features for the price. I used my phone light for a long time and about 5 years ago I started carrying a flashlight everyday and have never looked back. I’m also unsure how this particular light will hold up long term. Currently this one is in my wife’s glovebox. I carry some other smaller (and some larger) EDC lights. There’s so many great options these days even at budget prices. Cheers!

      Yeah I’m sure. It’s a tiny flashlight and used a 14500 cell, I put an Efest brand 14500 in it myself. That’s the reason it’s only putting out 450 lumens. An 18650 would put out at least 800-1200 on average. You can check it out on Amazon’s website for all the specs.

      Dude, I get what you're saying, yet reckon it depends how you use it. I love my Nebo Flex as an EDC - it's perfect for my day sling. Yet I equally love my 1000+ lumen model (Thrunite) that is equally perfect for when I'm going in the mountains and need the longer range from time to time. Just because it has 1000 lumens don't mean that you have to use it on FULL blast 100% of the time. A couple of fully charged 18650 batteries will keep me happy in camp for a week through all uses.
