I went in with little expectations, just the premise of it being cosmic horror which I love. They nailed it being cosmic horror which is a hard task to even do. It's by far one of if not my favorite game I've played this year so far.
The ticking percussion in The Gateway is so damn good. It serves as literal symbol of the borrowed time you have while stranded out in the red storm and it makes for an intense as hell track.
I seriously got panicked when the Red Zone overtook me, I genuinely thought it was Insta-Kill until it was just the worst radiation poisoning until you and your car die, I survived, but I imagine the worse case scenario is that car entire shit itself and you're stuck to die in the red zone slowly with no way to reach the gateway light if salvation.
The Remnant just perfectly sets the tone for this fantastic game. It's not just one of the best games this year so far, its one of the best of the decade so far.

Any one else playing Pacific Drive getting eerie eldritch horror with a pinch of sci-fi horror vibe? Now and then I expect some Lovecraftian nightmare creature to appear through the fog, or from the dark night..
I'm watching a playthrough for it, since I don't have it myself. It very much reminds me of Control, vibes wise. like the whole game takes place in the area with an AWE from that game.
doing that last warthog run type section on the last mission with 0:39:39 playing made that section actually incredibly fun, forced cinematic sections like that and when 0:20:57 (the part where you're having to link the junction circuit thingies by driving past the orange lights that zap your car) is playing usually dont work for me, it's forced (in the case of the circuit one, I THOUGHT it was forced but watching a video on that section made me realize I could have stopped between each recharge station whenever I wanted) and it's usually not as epic as the game makes me want it to feel, these 2 sections though? the 3 of them (soon to be 2.....) arguing about the tech stuff while the absolute chaos that is whats happening in front of me combined with the music made it actually tense and had me invested in these characters more than I realized once it was over and the last section with the music blasting, stuff crashing down all over me, hard accelerating towards the exit, I can bet it wouldn't have been quite as impactful without this music. truly amazing work
this is my playlist i play in my car everywhere now and more so on long drives as i live up in the regionss this games is picturing and damn if it isnt amazing
@PepperPotxx Instability plays whenever you activate the gateway, and it climaxes when the radiation (yellow) storm fully takes over. Gateway plays once you get caught by the instability (red storm) as to add to the feeling of being torn apart.

Pacific Drive is definitely up top there on the list of best games of 2024. The gameplay, the music, it's just perfect.

What a game! Took me 25 hours to complete the story and I am definitely going to get all of the upgrades.

You should remix this to start with all the sung songs not the ambience tracks😂
The part "driver" is sort of upsetting because it's the song that plays when tobias dies, my favourite character.....
Francis was my favorite from basically the start, but even then Tobias' death was surprisingly powerful.
