But after a run I always go straight to the couch to drink beer and browse social media while eating sweets and bragging about my run
You HAVE to have a beer and brag about the run. Why else did I download Strava?
Lol
You've earned the beer and bragging rights!!! Why else would someone run?
Why do these people think I run?
Me too, Wilvin! Where would we be without GTN?!?
By my count, you sat down with a total of 9 beers in that video...Merry Christmas!
She must be stalking me because I haven't told anyone that I do these things.
Sorry 🤣
I would say, do not go to the shower straight after your run but wait 5-10 minutes for your body to warm down a little. I like do stretching for 6minutes and then go to the shower. If you walk for 5 minutes after your run that’s great too 👌
agreed if I don't take the time to cool down I'm still sweating when I get out of the shower
Or take a cold shower, it's great for you!
@@aliasgharkhoyee9501I’ve tried, but the inner-temperature of the body stays warm ( if it’s an under 5 minutes shower ). Furthermore it can be bad for the muscles depending on your goals. But I’m not an expert so don’t take my advice for granted.
Sorry if my English is bad 😅
Nothing worse than finishing the shower and you’re still sweating
sounds crazy but If its hot outside(above90°F)ill hose myself off with the garden hose before I change
gets all the nasties and sweat off your gear before theyre washed
and it feels great
Thanks for this. Things are a bit different in races here in Spain - Beer at the finish line is quite normal and I've even been offered freshly cooked Pizza :-) Failing that you might get a goody bag with either meats to take home, or a Garlic.... Plus a Beer of course. Welcome to local town races in Spain.
Where do we sign up? 😅
#1. Don't sit in your kit after running since it'll be wet and cool you too much
#2. Don't drink a beer immediately.
#3. Sweets/biscuits/candy after run. Eat proper food!!
#4. Don't do grocery shopping immediately after a run. You'll binge shop for crappy food.
#5. Don't be a couch potato after the run. Do warm downs etc.
#6. Don't brag about your run. Friends will try and beat your time. (tongue-in-cheek)
You're welcome.
IMO, So for us in the real world some of this is garbage.
#1. In California and hotter climates you don't get cold as your sweats dry off
#2. BS. A beer is fine. It's been proven that beer hydrates. Alcohol is a toxin which is the issue but 1 beer is OK.
#3. Agree. Don't eat junk!
#4. Agree.
#5. As long as you rest appropriately. Sometime having your legs raised stops inflammation.
#6. This is what social media is for. To keep the competitive spirit alive !!
Lul thanks for saving me time. I feel like they just pump out videos to pump out videos, not to help anyone with a lick of common sense.
Why would you drink beer with alcohol which will make your hard work meaningless when you can just drink water or protein shake
Good work Gazza mate
Most of if it is garbage. These running channels are jokes for the most part. A big piss up if you ask me.
Get some hot beverage instead of beer... 🤷
I love that you brought three beers to the couch to avoid trips to the fridge lol
What beer?
Also forces you to drink fast to avoid warm beers...genius.
Be honest. You got caught with the beers after your run so decided to turn it into a "what not to do" video to avoid getting judged.
'Well you might wanna check strava....' hahahahaha I'm dying here 🤣 brilliant, nice video thank you
The first tip definitely doesn't apply in most parts of Australia - you're lucky if you're able to cool down without a cold shower after!
Number 1 was a very british problem... For me number 2 was as well...
Exactly what I thought
Living in Borneo at the equator where the hardest thing to do - year round - is to cool down, this seemed a bit pointless and I turned off. But was obviously interested enough to scroll the comments to see if others felt the same. Just didn’t apply to me at all.
Same in Texas
Just finished a 15km run. Checked online, and found out you just released a video what should (or shouldn"t) I do now. Thanks.
Also: Marry Christmas :)
... so you cracked a beer and watched UA-cam 😉
I smoke cannabis right before my run. Puts me in the zone.
😂 Me to
Me too 😂😂😂
Zone -1?
Great video thank you, such good energy and advice :)
I love that refreshing sweet (but not too sweet) taste of a quality chocolate flavoured protein shake with milk after a run.
Me too
Started this running season at the end of January this year which is earlier than usual and I live in Canada so some of those January, February runs were cold.
Always great info, especially for those getting back into it... but I'm hungry now....
I come back from my long ISH run, jump in the shower and re-fuel with a healthy wholemeal sandwich and a drink, then take a quick nap on the sofa. I'm not as young as I used to be 😮😇👍
Merry Christmas, everybody!
And to you too!
Thank you and merry Christmas
i always scoff couple of bananas after a good ol slog. then maybe a couple of poached eggs.
I love this channel. If there was a suck thing as a run crush, Heather would be it 😁
i always: shower, eat, sleep, wake up and drink a coffee. I love it! :)
love your video i do not do any off these its just common sence not to, i dont tell anybody about what i do or how fast i run,
i run against my watch not against other runners,
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the videos. Do you guys recommend Gatorade?
Watching this in my sweaty, cold running clothes while enjoying a beer.
Thank you 👍
Walk for 30 minutes, undress myself, take a shower, drink plenty of water, take aminoacids supplement, have a massage, meditate. Dress back myself.
Merry Christmas!:)
What about beer mile?? LOL
Heather looks comfy on the couch with Heineken!
What about post-run stretches and foam roller??
Heather, those images of pastries and cookies are not helping :)
Good points,
Post Run beverage of choice = 40 ounces of Ice Cold Malt Liquor, specially wrapped in a brown paper bag...so thick you can spoon it up!!
I never knew I shouldn’t eat sweets after a run. I’m actually being serious. Thank you so much! x
I used to just have breakfast, shower then off to work - never did any stretching which I’m sure lead to runners knee and about 2 months off.
Now I go straight into a 10min stretch routine each time, foam rolling and all 👍💕
What stretches do you do
Admittedly I get directly in the shower and bring my phone with me. Reviewing data in a hot shower with a post recovery shake is my favorite.
Shower beers!!!!
What is that cookie you bought, it looks delicious!!!
Heather really had to suffer for this video…wine, beer, TV, cakes, 😂😂
Merry Christmas
Hah I love this.
This to me seems like a beer promo😁 Heinken specifically
That cookie look so good 🥲
I think I’m in love.
I'm guilty of going for a beer after a work out 🤣
Haha I've been guilty of the beer with a meal after the run. Gotta remind myself to drink water first.
I don''t think it's a big deal if you don't run more than one time a week.
These are the most trivial "Do Nots", lol
2:23 that bottle opening.. nooo 😂😭
Went to a bakery after a morning run once, ended up having WAY too much bread roll, biscuits and pastry for the day^^
Thanks Heather, but how many sofas do you have LOL
You should never drink Heineken after your run, or at any time of the day!
False news.
@Seppe Snoeck Definitely agreed. Sewage water.
@@steeeefie541 Ironic that you're the human version of Heineken. Lame.
@@Lockhart2000 witty comeback, ad hominem👏🏼
Are you actually appealing to logical fallacy to defend how lame you are?
MMMM Jelly beans. LOL. Agree alcohol not a good idea right after. Merry Christmas, now time to raise a glass.
Does a Michelob Ultra count as a post-run rehydration beverage?
Heather drinking beer from the bottle in something amazing
merry christmass
@Global Triathlon Network I frequently have a sweet bar after a long run (2hr+) to cope with carb depletion before my proper meal is rdy. Is this a bad practice?
Eat some good carbs instead!
@@rustydagon598 What do you mean by "good carbs" ?
Nice view of Laura Fountain
I AM NOT saying the advice is not good. But I used to be a member of a successful large running club that meet at a sports club house. After every run, the routine would be shower, then into the bar for a couple of pints. Was never sure it was a good idea, but that's what happened, and still does as far as I know.
Alcohol sloes down recovery
The DT SWISS WHEEL👀🔥
Heineken!!... good choice 😃
There is nothing like a cold beer after a run! I guess the only better thing is posting a photo of it as you drink it on Strava while lying down on your couch after beating your friends on a segment and waiting for them to respond after they get the notification they’re no longer the leader!!
Anybody know of the brand of trousers she is wearing in this video please?
Does heineken even count as beer? Hahah 😜
No. If in the UK try Brew Dog. Lovely
Life's too short to drink shitty beer. Don't do it !! Get quality stuff!!
Aah yes the segment
I always suspected a Guinness after a run was a bad thing, but I really hoped I was wrong.
Watching this straight today's easy run 😂
In some experiments Beer can hydrate better than water. I'm still waiting for somebody to make a post-run beer.
I believe that low or non-alcoholic beer might be. Read somewhere about German non-alcoholic beer being a good post run drink. I have milk after a run and a beer abit later as the presenter suggests.
thank god you didn't bring up anything about having a smoke... :))
Yep my post run routine, glass of milk and a ciggie before my shower lol
Pretty sure this video is just an excuse to buy beer and sweets as a business expense.
What about a coffee after my running?
Terimakasih atas infonya .
Sangat bermanfaat 🔥🔥🔥👍👍
Memang benar 👍🏾
0.0 beer is a great isotonic best-of-both-worlds solution to 3 ;)
The grocery clerks probably HATED seeing me coming...I only shopped after a hot sweaty workout. Pew!
Make a warm down video. And maybe a short version of warm up
Just don't start or end by your high intensity interval and your are fine. It depends of each person and the kind of session you have planned, but between 10 and 20 min at Z1/2 is a common thing for your HIIT session. Dylan Johnson made a video on that subject also.
Lol, I'm guilty of all but one of these.
Nice music.
Waiting for epic fails compilation of 2020
But the first reason I just got home and needed at least 12mins rest while scrolling on my phone looking for information about post run
If i want to start getting injuries i merely need to start drinking after good training sessions.
Everytime a crocdile i start to see injuries
2:05 also don't get wasted on the eve of your run. That will fuck you up well lmao
Trueee
Heather I’m not a wine snob but we need to upgrade your wine selection! 😝 PS...your candy selection is pretty good!
And her beer selection. Heineken? Yuck!
Heather and Mark
Love your video, I'm guilty of that (put my hands up to it) guilty of having Chocolate/sweets after run, have a sweet tooth. Also have Coke, after run. Is that bad for you. (Coke after run)
Heather Mark your both cool people, hope you both had a nice Christmas and hope you have a Nice New Year.
It's bad at any moment :D
@@johnpatrick3096 I mean not really, yes obviously, having coke all the time is bad, and will cause you to gain weight, but my excuse for eating all those unhealthy things is that I run and end up burning whatever I gained 😂
@@annamccubbin500 Fair enough XD
Watching this after run, on my sofa
England and beer, lol.
Watching this while sitting on chair hahahaha
Sainsbury’s is the official supermarket of runners & gym goers! All in their sportswear putting us coach potatoes to shame 😂
a cervejinha é quase impossível evitar;):) Forte abraço!!
split infinitive, gee... "NOT to do". Regarding the tips, from a logistical standpoint, it can be difficult not to get in the car after a run. But point taken.
Starting to get in a routine of afternoon long jog, come home and prepare big healthy dinner after having shopped beforehand and of course nice hot shower, fresh clothes and rehydrate. It's going well. Now relaxing sipping tea eating fruit in bed tweeting 😁🙏🥕🍄🥑🍉🥦🥬🇬🇧
With having sweet things after a run, I'm not a scientist, but I'm pretty sure your body needs insulin for protein synthesis to take place. So wouldn't it be a good idea to have something a bit sugary alongside a nutrient rich high carb and protein snack/meal?
I'm lucky I only live with my husband because I cant staaaand being in sweaty wet running or cycling clothes, I'm naked as soon as I've shut the door.
Merry Christmas.
No matter after a run, Never drink Heineken, Full Stop, it's p...
The last one is just don't be an arse.
I can't say I've ever returned from a run eager to drink alcohol. Maybe I'm weird 😂
3:19 pinky's up!
is it okay for me to run to event?
Ive been told that you shouldnt take a bath after a run. Is thay true?
Chips (crisps) and beer... power food
*me literally doing the first thing* 😂
Joyeux Noël
Merry Christmas!
And give us a brake: none drinks litres after training session.
Don’t expect anyone to give a crap about your run. Especially the Mrs. Because they won’t especially when your prioritising half killing your self over relaxing with them. Speaking from experience 😂
Heinie and some tele..
