@@TheBTMPodcast Another scorcher!! I think the media is responsible for Ronde Barber's induction. They always pushed that stat that he had 20 sacks and 20 interceptions. When Housh mentions those other DB's there's no comparison.
Straight truth about big Willie. OL ain’t the sexiest position to play until your OL stinks. Then you pray for a guy like Willie Anderson. I met him a couple of times. Nicest guy ever and had a giant pulsating football brain. Willie Anderson was among the greatest.

Commanders fan here, one of my favorite Dous coming up is a toss up: Bruce, Holt. Harrison, Wayne. Ocho, Housh. All them men got numbers and took mad hits that wouldn't fly in today's league
@frankp7270 maybe you didn't really watch the games back then and you're just going off numbers but 2006 and 2007 housh was just as important to those teams as Chad was. That's not a knock on Chad! 2007, his statistics were right there or better than Chad's. They were one of the best duos in the NFL those years. They played different roles. Chad stretched the field and made huge plays. Housh was an over the middle, chain mover with some of the more elite hands. I'm sure you can find sound clips that will jive with what I'm saying. Housh also was an elite run blocker. So yeah I'll stand on TJ outplaying Chad in 2007.

I tell people the most underrated wr is Sterling Sharpe. A neck injury ruined his career but he was putting up 2023 stats back in 1992. Eric Moulds is another favorite.

Willie Anderson not being seriously considered for enshrinement is a great tragedy.
Maybe he’ll get in 50 or 100 years from now like poor Ken Riley, who was inducted posthumously a year or 2 ago. His children proudly accepted the award. But it sure would’ve been nice for the man to know thay his career was finally being recognized. Seeing as he was top 3 in career interceptions in the whole history of the league by the time he retired.
Willie Anderson, in his time, was really hitting his stride by the time he made the first of 4 straight Pro Bowls from 2003-2006. Second team All Pro that year. First team All Pro 04, 05 and 06.
Then the geniuses in the league office decide to change the structure of Pro Bowl and All Pro voting where instead of voting for the two best left tackles for the LT position, then the two best right tackles for RT (same for guards), they move to a universal vote where LTs are allowed to be voted in as RTs.
It’s asinine. Makes no sense whatsoever.
There was a season, I think in 06 or 07, when Cincy played the NFC North. That year, Willie didn’t give up a single sack and he went head to head with Julius Peppers, Terrell Suggs/Adalius Thomas, Robert Mathis, Shawne Merriman, Tamba Hali, Derrick Burgess, Ty Warren/Roosevelt Colvin, and criminally underrated Aaron Smith.
It’s one of the great achievements by any O-lineman in modern football history and no one even knows it happened because poor Willie played for an incompetent, mismanaged franchise and because the NFL wanted more star power in the Pro Bowl to sell more jerseys and make more money.
Willie Anderson deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He earned it even if they’ll never give it to him.
Chad, TO are similar in that old heads didn’t like how expressive they were and punished them on the back end with HOF. both were 2 of the coldest receivers ever. No debate
