I don't think twitch is actually that profitable for Amazon. I'm pretty sure most Amazon's revenue and profits are from AWS and small online retail markets they have monopolized. Obviously, in general Amazon and Jeff Bezos are making a ton of money but the main cause of that is the fact they are able to avoid so many taxes. For Jeff thanks to loopholes and for Amazon mainly through government incentives supposedly to reward creating jobs.

Honestly, I think that Critical Role deserves the money they make. These people are real voice actors and are bringing real skills to the table, much like animators and actors on UA-cam. I'm not sure about the other streamers you mentioned but that's my 2 cents lol
Ture Animation is a Grind and to go Viral would mean the World to them so they can make Better animation in the Coming Years like Alan Becker and Many others
I'm of the opinion that content creators can make as much money as they want, their actions should be judged, not their income, no one's bothered by mr beast's seemingly infinite amount of cash
1. Mr. Beast often spends or hands out significant amounts of cash as part of videos, as well as pays an entire crew. 2. Mr. Beast doesn't argue against the "system" and then engage in some of its worst excesses An analogy: Say I am a vegan advocate and you are not. People will be upset with me eating a giant prime rib but won't care if you do the same.
@@thorsday121 yes but a vegan advocate is different, people are mad at you for breaking a goal that you are trying to keep but content creator are people that well.. create content and get money for it, its not a suprise that big content creator make a bunch of green, someone with half a braincell or one third of it would have the capability to understand, but this is the internet, everything is you do or say and any information is like 2x
@@thorsday121 That's a flawed argument. Your debating two different topics. Your vegan analogy isn't comparable to Mr. Beast. It's like saying, "You cant eat ice cream, you'll get fat" then turning around and downing a gallon of Ben and Jerry's. In contrast, Mr. Beast isn't spouting hypocritical nonsense. Regardless whether or not you believe Mr. Beast doesn't deserve his money or is a bad person, he's not enforcing the idea of one thing and performing the exact opposite. Even Jeff Bezos funds advocacy groups for a $15 dollar minimum wage, meaning Jeff fucking Bezos has done more to help the working man than Hasan. Hasan is not some poor sod just scraping by. He's someone who has the means and supposedly motive to NOT live an ostentatious and luxurious lifestyle and yet chooses to anyway. He's absolutely worthy of criticism.
I'm confused about the critical role part. They ARE a company. They formally created the company when they parted with Geek & Sundry; they've never tried to hide this; in fact they celebrated these things with their fans.
Critical Role deserves their success. They're overflowing with passion and talent. As a nerd who gets picked on for not being into sport, I'm happy that there are other nerds that made it big doing what they love
Agreed- *Critical Roll* is a class act. They aren't some "streamer" in an RGB chair playing Fortnite and pawning their merch off to their audience. It's essentially a live stage performance. I dont really think that people should be upset about twitch streams earning so much money. But I do agree that Creators should not be able to avoid taxes of luxury items saying it is business expenses.
That's a deeper problem of society than just streamers. Most wealthy people do similar tax evasion strategies. A lot of it is legal and a lot of the time it is much worse. I recommend reading about the Pandora Papers and the Pro publica leaks if you want too see how wide scale it really is.

@@jasminemoriah6909 I dont really understand what you are referring to since Im not from America. But if its for a change in how taxes work, good I guess.
It's a difficult thing to judge because it depends on a lot of circumstances, not to mention the potential debate of "greed vs ambition". On one hand, streamers and content creators don't decide how much they get paid. If our videos do well, we get paid for them. If we want to expand on that by taking in sponsors, selling merch or establishing a personal brand for ourselves, that can't be considered a bad thing either (unless we're taking sponsors for like I dunno killing babies) because money is out there and creators take it under the mindset of if we don't, someone else will. I suppose it might be seen as a dick move to start a gofund me for something when you can easily fund that ambition out of your own pocket, but once again it's not necessarily exploitation. I don't think criticalrole is necessarily wrong to go crowdfunding because their viewers want to support the channel. So even if there are streamers making millions and millions of dollars a year that's just the fruits of their labor and unlike multibillion dollar companies who literally abuse their workers, they're not doing anything to extort or harm their audience. So it's difficult to really draw a line on "oh you make TOO much money you're a bad person!" because money is a byproduct of content creation.
You can't exactly say creators don't get promised a payout, because neither do small businesses, it isn't something unique to them. UA-camrs and Twitch streamers jump onto trends all the time to secure themselves a profit, and small businesses usually do something of a similar nature too, so it goes without saying that money is NOT a byproduct of content creation, because money IS the product.
@@scrittle Again it depends on circumstance. We pursue whatever gives us the most amount of views which gives us the most amount of money. But again is there something wrong with wanting to pursue money? We're still promising viewers entertainment no? and for free mind you (unless you count like patreon or onlyfans).
Also keep in mind the crowdfunding was a couple of years ago when they were still relatively small. And it’s not wrong for them wanting to organise where the money goes so they wanted to make sure everything from the crowdfunding went where it was intended
Yes. Definitely. I think people need to remember the difference between greed, dishonesty, and just having money because what you do is popular, and you’re good at it.
biggest reason is that people tend to form parasocial relationships with their favorite content creators and when its revealed that the streamers are not like the viewers, they (the viewers) feel betrayed by their creator
I honestly don't get those people. I get the parasocial relationships, hell I indulge in those all the time because they're fun (ofc I make sure not to be weird or break boundaries but pretending a streamer is your friend/relating to content on a personal level is just more enjoyable for me). But ppl gotta have some common sense. These streamers don't know us and never will, and what they put online will always only be a fraction of their full person. It's like separating fiction from reality when reading books/watching movies. You enjoy the fiction and "believe" in it for fun but you don't actually think it's true and get mad when someone says Narnia isn't real.
@@Mousedahbidoof Yes exactly! I wish people would talk about parasocial relationships in a more in depth way than just PARASOCIAL BAD. Like yes, it can be bad and unhealthy when taken to the extreme or if one is not aware that's what's happening, but if you take a step to think about it and make sure you're always remembering the reality, it's fine to act a bit parasocial sometimes for your own entertainment.

I disagree. Hassan thing is not that millionaires and billionaires can't buy luxury items or mansion but that those millionaires and billionaires get those money to buy those things by paying as low as possible wages to their workers and not paying taxes. I found it funny that people were getting angry over how much money creators make because Ranboo's fanbase had the opposite reaction. They got mad that he was *only* number 16 and kept gifting subs for like a week after the leak.
This is a pure example of people being extremely jealous/insecure of others having a lot of money Like why do people get so mad about other people having a lot of money?
imo it completely depends on how much money we're talking about, since there is a limit when u have "too" much money, especially if u hoard it when it could be used to to help lesser fortunate people, charities, funding other peoples dreams, help saving the enviroment and so on. For example, I doubt not a lot will disagree with me here, people like Jeff Bezos reached that limit long ago, imagine how many trees among other things he could plant to help our current enviroment, how many homeless people he could manage to get a home for, how many flawed cities infrastructure he could improve. Especially the poorer countries where schools is a thing only the lucky have access to. In reality at one point, ur so rich you won't ever have to worry about money, and you'll never be able to spend it all, I mean hell, to give you an idea of this, Jeff got enough money to give every single person in the world 23 dollars *each*, while there are people who have trouble even getting food and clean water, let alone a roof over their heads. TL:DR it's less about how much money a lot of these people have, and more how they choose to spend them, look at Mr Beast whose universally loved, but also has a lot of money. If u have the ability to help people and change their lives, when the cost of it would be comparable to pennies for you, there is no real excuse as why u shouldn't do it.
People being like: he earned 9million how dare he. Meanwhile Jeff bezos with 150 billion dollars and going to space for five minutes instead of helping people
Why do you think those positions are mutually exclusive? And I don't think it's that he earned however much that people have a problem with, it's that he doesn't spend it on the issues he claims to support, doesn't put his money where his mouth is. I don't care if creators make millions but I do care if they act like they don't. Before the leaks Hasan, Sykkuno, and some others would often act as if they are not high class or can understand the struggles of them. I think the streamers who don't beg for subs and donos and don't pretend to be for the people or pretend not to be rich are fine. Especially if they put effort into their content. I always knew they made millions and that's why I've never had a good view of people like Hasan. He just preaches about stuff he truly doesn't support or believe and that's his entire job and an easy job at that.

I had gotten into an argument with a friend when this leak came out. She was on the side of being pissed that those streamers made so much. I told her that the majority of the creators had done a lot of work in the background to get where they are now. She insisted that it couldn't possibly nearly as much work as she's doing now, working fulltime and going to school. I told her that if it's that easy then she should start streaming and build a following. She complained about how she would never have time to do it and had to focus on other things. That was my point. The majority of streamers either have to find some sort of balance with their work/school life and streaming while some just take a leap of faith, quitting work/school and doing streaming fulltime in hopes they can make a living off it. Eventually the truth came out that my friend was envious of them to be able to work from home and do something they're super passionate in. I can relate to that, but I'm not going to be angry or hate those creators for doing something I wish I had the confidence of doing.
It also reveals that twitch's algorythm/system only really benefits the top 20 creators who are constatntly on the top of the search, and its pure luck to stumble into someone else you might like besides the top of the page (usually by other means outside twitch).
It's more about Hassan's hipocracy to me. He advocates for socialism. That means in theory he should try and redistribute his wealth, which he has, to the community. He does not to my knowledge. In fact, he is a very good capitalist. He works, he makes money and handles it semi-responsibly. The disconnect comes when he advocates for Socialism but works like a capitalist. That is where I have issues with him.
IDK if Hasan is really a good candidate for "if you pull back the curtain you seem more sympathetic". this is the guy who started his career on TYT a company his uncle founded and launched his Twitch off of that
@@BantanaAudio He practices exactly what he preaches. Socialism is about workers owning the means of production. @@vaasmontenegro3993 According to Marx he is definitely not the bourgeoisie, he doesn't own all his means of production, Marx would've put him in the "Proletarian" category, his status (and other highly paid employees like Lawyers, Doctors, accountants) are where Weber and Marx disagree on social stratification, hence why Weber created the concept of the "upper/lower middle-class" as Marx didn't recognize it, you either exploit others labor and earn profit or you are exploited and earn wages.
@@vaasmontenegro3993 Given that Weber is the basis for neoliberal sociology it doesn't surprise me that you would only be capable of understanding his framework since it's the status quo.
The main reason many got angry against streamers I think is because one of the most attractive aspect streamers build on to get popularity is "relatability". They make sure that their audience think "Hey, this guy's like me, I feel the need to support them.". Therefore, realizing that someone you consider equal ends up being WAY richer than they "let it appear", you feel betrayed and lied to. This situation is really a "case by case". If the ones earning money do use it to be productive (such as critical Role) or to donate it as much as possible, then they're fine for many since they use the money they earned for their job / others. However, if this money is used on themselves, or worst, if they kept on pretending they needed the money while they add plenty, they're doomed to get a backlash for hypocrisy or liability. In the end, everyone is free to do what they want with their earning, sure, but they have to handle the "expectations" of people. Funniest thing about this however is that the people who complain the loudest are the ones who didn't participate in the donations in any form.

cant speak for most of the streamers on the list, but for some, I’m honestly happy to see that they’re making decent money from their streaming. I don’t feel jealous or spiteful, but instead glad that they are well off and able to continue streaming without a negative effect on their lifestyle.
I feel jealous sometimes, but I don't let it get to me Like, if you can, go and get that money, you deserve it if you work hard, I'm glad life worked out for you that way

For those that do not know, in the leak was also revealed a "no ban" list Essentially, if a specific creator does something that would normally result in a ban, they get a second chance or a mild punishement before they get actually banned (which might explain why some streamers who do weird shit always get back so soon) I thought that this would be in the video, but im not complaining, its as good it as always is
I guess the pont is that if you claim to be a socialist and anti-capitalist then people have right to raise an eyebrow at the affluent spending the guy does.

I don't mind groups/companies making good money (like Critical Role), but I do find it silly that so many singular people get so much money from streaming. But the issue is not the streamers themselves, it's the people that are giving all the money, that is. What the streamers do with that money is up to them, I'd probably buy expensive things for the fun of it if people threw thousands upon thousands of dollars in my face as well.
I don't think its silly that Singular people Earn that Much Money cuz they r themselves the Brand If u look at Big Creators Most of em Are Brands they have their own Managing Teams and All so that makes them the Company Also, if they don't have any managing teams or editors or anything like that and are a humongous creator they should still get the money since they stream 13 hrs a day edit the yt vids manage deals reply to emails learn new things or strategies to stay relevant while still being a good Stream/Content Creator and not losing their "Funness" which the viewers enjoy
I personally don't find it silly. If they've managed to make it big and got to that point, all power to 'em. To hate them would just be to deny jealousy, imo.
It's not 5 out of 10,000 people that earn a minimum wage. Almost all of the creators on that list have diverse content across multiple platforms as well as brand deals and sponsorships that provide the large majority of their income that aren't even mentioned in that video you referenced, or in the data leak. Yes, the number of streamers who make a minimum wage is still astronomically low, but not as low as 5 in 10,000.
The minimum wage thing is a very bad example. We shouldn't be including streamers that aren't attempting to be full time. Just because you quit the streaming button once doesn't mean you were working.
Nothing wrong with making lots of money, unless you claim to hate the thing you relish in. You can still watch them, just know it’s an disingenuous facade.
i am so proud of Critical Role, they put out such incredible content all the time, not even including their main campaigns which are 4 hour long streams EVERY WEEK. which is basically them doing improv acting for 4 hours straight. i myself play D&D every week, for 3 ish hours and it can be A LOT to handle, i cant imagine doing it whilst also on camera in front of so many people. the last episode of their last campaign (campaign 2) was 7 hours long. they were doing improv acting for SEVEN HOURS. so good on them for doing what they love and making an entire ass company around it, as well as being super successful voice actors and having their own charity foundation (Critical Role Foundation) AND they also have Darrington Press which is how they're releasing their source books and Uk'otoa, their own board game. Not going to lie. I did fall into the pitfall of such envy after I learned how some of these people (the majority of them I had no idea about except Critical Role and even then I've only HEARD of them but never engaged) seemed to be making bucko bucks for something that at the time I viewed as so simple that I could do it, so therefore why don't I have bucko bucks? Before I began my journey to seriously commit to this UA-cam thing, and it more or less was a passing thought with half assed attempts a few years ago, I remember seeing a creator on the rise who I became envious over. It almost seemed like their 'success', however you wish to define it and for me at the time their sub count, felt undeserved. Years later, I've come to terms that this kind of thinking is very counterproductive to you as a creator and seeing the "grand total" of numbers without understanding the breakdown can really affect you. As I've stated before I glanced at the leaked numbers and won't deny I felt a bit bitter, but I also recognized that sort of thinking really held me back before so I needed to drop it, and move on. I had to tell myself that I don't have all the sides of the story, and if it bugs me so much then that in turn means I would need to dedicate time to really research the facts, crunch numbers, all that jazz in order to fundamentally understand what do these numbers all mean/entail. Or. Decide I would rather do something else that to me feels more productive than that. With that being said, thank you so much Andrei for breaking this down in a manner I can understand as well as giving those plaguing thoughts that tend to linger some closure. 😊
never really bothered me that streamers earn money, because most of that money comes from donations and hard work. not sure why people are so shocked and appalled
I don't have a problem with people making money by being hypocrites. I just want them to own it, ya know? Don't sit there and pretend you're some down trodden person who is oppressed by the system then try to hide/justify your million dollar lifestyle.
The problem is *THAT* this rich streamers faced no arduous means to get where they are, and the profit outweighs the little to sometimes no effort by a far margin
I'm totally fine with any content creator raking in massive amount of money. Yes, even the "twitch-thot"s as they are known. It's not because of any work ethic, luck, or anything specific to the content creator that I hold these views, no no, it is only because I believe if someone wants to throw money at a person, they chose to do so. On that whole list of leaked income, I only knew 3 names, and that's mostly because of the virality and memes associated - Pokimane, Asmongold, and Critical Role. People getting upset that others are making money is indeed asanine, as they are probably the same people fueling the income for those creators. Respect to those that put the work in, and specifically to Andrei here, who not only makes great content, but keeps things neutral and explains what is going on in a factual manner, rather than showing any favor to either side. You are a prime example of what media reporting *should* be, and that is why I am in that group of people who choose to fund and support the creators they enjoy.
i just dont get how someone else's money immediately makes them greedy, after all twitter's probably the same community who'd waste said money on fucking bathtub streams.
There's a huge flaw with saying "0.05% streamers make minimum wage": there aren't 11 millions of people who are taking it seriously. How many are kids or your average player streaming for fun? How many saved up, got a pro cam, quit their job, officially created a company and went all in? Probably not even 1% of that total.
Personally whatever a person does with their money is up to them as long as it's not hurting anyone who cares? Also the whole Twitch earnings thing shows how much the pay is HOWEVER TWITCH TAKES MONEY OUT. I think it's fair personally if someone does happen to become a millionaire from Twitch as long as they use their money responsibly and not hurting anyone who cares
i don't think people are envious. what is unfair is that a person earns so much money, accepts donations on top of that while they are already a millionaire, attacks "wealthy" people while they are these "wealthy" people, and give 0 back to the community. if only the top 0.1% of these creators make so much money, why do they not give back to smaller streamers who make no money? why dont they donate all their donations to a good cause? people are angry cause they were fed an illusion.
Introducing it as "envy" rigs the discussion. I think it's useful to consider variation. Some wealthy people are despised, while others are seems as likeable or humble. If it were just envy, you'd likely get a consistent hatred. There are different factors that seem to impact the level of animosity. Hated is likely to be more profound when the successful are seen as having won a rigged game or power becomes entrenched. By contrast, someone who does well can be highly loved and respected if they give back to their community or act graciously. If it were just envy, you'd probably hate people MORE who were wealthy and seemed like nice unaffected, respected people.
The Critical Role thing seems ridiculous to me… like, people are getting so much content and some fans were getting pressed for what? There’s an animated series, extremely high quality videos, and many, MANY people in the background making this happen. All from what started as just a group of friends. I'm of the opinion that content creators can make as much money as they want, their actions should be judged, not their income, no one's bothered by mr beast's seemingly infinite amount of cash
1. Mr. Beast often spends or hands out significant amounts of cash as part of videos, as well as pays an entire crew.
2. Mr. Beast doesn't argue against the "system" and then engage in some of its worst excesses
An analogy: Say I am a vegan advocate and you are not. People will be upset with me eating a giant prime rib but won't care if you do the same.

In contrast, Mr. Beast isn't spouting hypocritical nonsense. Regardless whether or not you believe Mr. Beast doesn't deserve his money or is a bad person, he's not enforcing the idea of one thing and performing the exact opposite. I dont really think that people should be upset about twitch streams earning so much money.
But I do agree that Creators should not be able to avoid taxes of luxury items saying it is business expenses.
The games the game and everyone’s gotta play it
That's a deeper problem of society than just streamers. Most wealthy people do similar tax evasion strategies. A lot of it is legal and a lot of the time it is much worse.
I recommend reading about the Pandora Papers and the Pro publica leaks if you want too see how wide scale it really is.
Good luck getting Congress to legislate for a new tax code. Between the re-election ads, both sides pearl clutching, and the overall dysfunction, they can barely move through their existing agenda.
@@jasminemoriah6909
I dont really understand what you are referring to since Im not from America.
I guess you're right. Money makes the world go round. I only wanted to comment on your last sentence. You made some solid points.

Like why do people get so mad about other people having a lot of money?
I personally feel it's less about them being rich but the fact that they contributed to them being richer that makes them mad.
Cause they waste time complaining about it instead of working and making their own money, imo
imo it completely depends on how much money we're talking about, since there is a limit when u have "too" much money, especially if u hoard it when it could be used to to help lesser fortunate people, charities, funding other peoples dreams, help saving the enviroment and so on.

I'm proud of critical role and the cast, they deserve the world and have helped enormous amounts of people in so many ways including myslef

@@vaasmontenegro3993 Given that Weber is the basis for neoliberal sociology it doesn't surprise me that you would only be capable of understanding his framework since it's the status quo.
quick answer - famous people are actually rich

I don't think its silly that Singular people Earn that Much Money cuz they r themselves the Brand If u look at Big Creators Most of em Are Brands they have their own Managing Teams and All so that makes them the Company
Also, if they don't have any managing teams or editors or anything like that and are a humongous creator they should still get the money since they stream 13 hrs a day edit the yt vids manage deals reply to emails learn new things or strategies to stay relevant while still being a good Stream/Content Creator and not losing their "Funness" which the viewers enjoy
I personally don't find it silly. If they've managed to make it big and got to that point, all power to 'em. To hate them would just be to deny jealousy, imo.

Just like people dont get mad a animators cause animating takes a loooooooooong time
It's not 5 out of 10,000 people that earn a minimum wage. Almost all of the creators on that list have diverse content across multiple platforms as well as brand deals and sponsorships that provide the large majority of their income that aren't even mentioned in that video you referenced, or in the data leak. Yes, the number of streamers who make a minimum wage is still astronomically low, but not as low as 5 in 10,000.
ya there is millions of 2 viewer streamers and that don't stream often.
The minimum wage thing is a very bad example. We shouldn't be including streamers that aren't attempting to be full time. Just because you quit the streaming button once doesn't mean you were working.
In my opinion it's not really a big deal, it just shows how much the industry has grown over time.
Feels like an eternity since Andrei posted! Makes my day 💙💯
Nothing wrong with making lots of money, unless you claim to hate the thing you relish in. You can still watch them, just know it’s an disingenuous facade.
Hassan is such a joke
@@TheDigitalApple his fans and his ideas are a joke.
Ignore the 3 bots above me
Dammit why are there so many bots?
i am so proud of Critical Role, they put out such incredible content all the time, not even including their main campaigns which are 4 hour long streams EVERY WEEK. which is basically them doing improv acting for 4 hours straight. i myself play D&D every week, for 3 ish hours and it can be A LOT to handle, i cant imagine doing it whilst also on camera in front of so many people. the last episode of their last campaign (campaign 2) was 7 hours long. they were doing improv acting for SEVEN HOURS. so good on them for doing what they love and making an entire ass company around it, as well as being super successful voice actors and having their own charity foundation (Critical Role Foundation) AND they also have Darrington Press which is how they're releasing their source books and Uk'otoa, their own board game. (also Talesin Jaffe is the best, i love him so much
Regarding the whole HasanAbi house drama, turns out he went through many hoops to make the purchase as private as possible, but someone in the realtor leaked it to the media.
seems like he's well aware that that purchase goes against everything his platform stands for lol yet people still defend him like crazy

The only thing i could think of that the leak spoiled for me is i thought everyone that i watch on that list where amateurs that earned thousands did not ever think they earned millions of dollars
It just made me look at them a little differently
For someone who argues against the current system, the system helped Hassan get to where he is now.
well yeah he lives in a capitalist society what other fucking way he would get money lol, he still defends his ideals and promoves his viewers to do things such as using ad block when watching his streams, also he isnt explioting anyone, the donations are donations people give him money if they want, he is doing his streams for free and donations are just to help him finacially
@@Miguel-xl8ui if anything, the way hasan makes his money is the most ethical way anyone could make money, people choose to sub out of their own free will, and you can consume his content for free if you want to
@@adwaitgharpure3836By that logic same with movie stars or big business. Only reason amaon is rich because peole choose to give amazon money.
There really isnt a reason to be upset about a streamer earning money. the issue with hassan specificly is he criticized others for buying expensive things like a 2 mill house, calling them bad people for spending so much money while people starved. then bought a 3 mill house.
People making money off doing something they love shouldn’t be frowned at
It's always a good day when Andrei Terbea uploads

“My Greatest Defeat” by Will Buxton is interesting in that it looks at how defeat affected successful drivers on Motorsport.
People:nice work Andria
Andria:(*makes 1$*)
People:how dare you
The problem is *THAT* this rich streamers faced no arduous means to get where they are, and the profit outweighs the little to sometimes no effort by a far margin
I can’t believe Wilfer had the will of D
I’d rather not have a duck as my medieval land lord. 1:13
I do
i don't think people are envious. what is unfair is that a person earns so much money, accepts donations on top of that while they are already a millionaire, attacks "wealthy" people while they are these "wealthy" people, and give 0 back to the community. if only the top 0.1% of these creators make so much money, why do they not give back to smaller streamers who make no money? why dont they donate all their donations to a good cause? people are angry cause they were fed an illusion.
They deserve to make their money, and they deserve their success. There is absolutely a difference between them, and Hasan Piker. At least they make their own content and don’t just profit off of commentary from other pieces of media.
Edit: changed some things for clarification
Love how people go on defending CR by bringing down other . Intresting how you are defining who deserves earning money or not lol
@@ChadPANDA... Andrei literally asked whether we think there’s a difference between the two creators at the end of the video? Don’t be a dick. Obviously everyone deserves to make money from twitch. But conflating a team of original creators vs. a single-person commentator style creator is ridiculous.
