In the past (early to mid 90's), and as far as I can remember, you were not allowed to negotiate the taxi ride because the taximeter was in charge of the price. But it's good that nowadays you can negotiate the trip like in many other cities in the rest of the world! And as New Yorkers say, if you are in nyc, you need to learn how to negotiate! NYC is beautiful city, they have everything for fun as cable car and ferry. In my country Timor leste we haven't that's yet. We only a small ferry for transfer us to another island. Thanks
