How To Easily Change Duration of Multiple Images & Remove Gaps in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6/CC

- Changing the duration of multiple images can get tedious if you're performing the task individually image by image for a large number that may be included in a slide show video. But there is a short cut fortunately that'll relieve this burden :). Also, you'll learn how to remove the gaps that are created when the duration or display time of the images are shortened!

In the menu you pull up at 0:33 there is a box marked "Ripple Edit, Shifting Trailing Clips." That will automatically ripple delete the space between your clips and save you about 10 steps.
+Neil Fennell Thank you :)!
I have the same problem. There is a gap between every two clips
Ah good. I'm having the same problem and thought I was going crazy :( While not ideal or nearly as convenient, this video is a good alternative solution.
You the MVP thanks!
2017... still getting much thanks!
This is no needed, just check the Ripple Edit Checkbox while changing the duration...
I KNOW
This comment the real MVP
Thanks!
I FUCKING LOST MY ENTIRE EVENING EDITING A 30 MINUTE VIDEO BY HER METHODE AND NOW I SEE THIS IM GOING DO FUCKING SCREAM
Seriously when I saw her start making a color matte I was like wtfffff ????
This is amazing, such an excellent little trick! Worked like a charm. Thank you so much for being cohesive and straight to the point Tutorial Bin!
This was very helpful thank you; time-lapses will never be easier!
Thank you for your post and thanks also to others who pointed to a simpler solution - you set the ball rollling and in the process I learned how to create a color matte, even if it wasn't essential in this instance. Well done.
+George Carter Appreciate your thoughtful comment and I too am thankful that others can gracefully point out a simpler approach :).
This is what i searching for... Thank you so much!
I'm a content creator and at times make stop motions. I found your video very helpful and to the point. Thanks for the knowledge!
Worked like a charm.. Thank you so much for this super simple and well presented TIP.
Thank you for this! You saved me a lot of time.
THANK YOU! This was very helpful! ;)
SO Easy!! Thank You!
Great! You are awesome. Really love this tutorial.
thank youuuuuuu. this helped me save sooo much time as I had to merge a thousand clips cuz i was making a stop motion video. Left a like...
That was so helpful, Thankyou!!!😄😄
Thanks btw, in latest version there is option in Speed/duration feature> Ripple edit, Shifting Trailers, just check that and change time , it will automatically remove gabs or add images in proper line after time increase
thanks so much!! fastand easy tutorial
Thanks for this. Is there a way to this to video clips (not stills) without speeding up the clips?
So helpful! Thank you so much.
+Germano Zaffalon Glad to be of service, thanks for the
Great tutorial, thanks!
-MK
So simple, I feel stupid for not thinking of that. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for posting this. Even tho the shorter version suggested works... it was your post which got people talking and posting. So thank you for posting!
+Paul Ruez Thanks for your thoughtful comment and I'm glad others are helpful too :)).
Thank you ! 😩❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼📸
Muchas gracias!
Thank You for your help....!!!
Thank you so much! I never knew it was this simple!! I have been doing stop motion for for a little bit and have been doing it in a much longer process! This will save me so much time! Thank you again!!
I am not able to go lower than 1 second. I want my clips to be 30 mili sec but cant work if I have the ripple delete box checked
Thank you! :)
Thank you!
wow holy scenic route!
cool! thanks!!
Thanks, it worked!
Yay :)!
Helpful (noted other methods as well), thank you. What app did you use to zoom in on the portion of the screen you were trying to show?
Manual edit in Premiere pro ;).
Thanks bin! it hellped alot
When I select multiple jpg's the speed/duration becomes grayed out
Indeed, your way to remove the gaps is rather long winded, when simply checking the Ripple Edit, Shifting Trailing Clips box does the trick ;-)
+William Lesourd - Périblog More than 1 road to rome and I do sometimes like the more scenic route...just kidding ;). Thank you for gently pointing out a simpler method...
Very good job.
helped me a lot
Very Useful tips
I am having no luck extending the duration of multiple clips from default :05 to :06 any suggestions
perfect tutorial hahaha was confused when u were creating a color matte lol
thank you so much
Wow! This lesson is very useful for 3 to 6 years old
OMG!!!! I wish I could hug your right now!!!!
Awww xoxo :)
Anyway I am just new to this, but very helpful!
Thank you... 🎉
Thank you so much
In Premier Pro, does anyone know how much you can speed up an image? In iMovie you can only do it to one tenth of a second... can you make it faster in Premier?
I LOVE YOU. THANKS!
+Gary Nasca Your welcome
Wow, that was complicated.
I'd rather just use the (m) tool to select gaps for the few photos and then right click on a selection and click "delete ripple".
Thanks homie G
Thank u so much
It doesn't work when you have any fx assigned to an image.
Thank you
ty very much
many thanks
Thank youuuu!!!!
content! Great!
hi, do you mind deleting the later part of this video which shows the tedious way of deleting those gaps? i tried your method before I saw those comments. ...for those ppl who didnt bother to read the comments will learn that tedious method from the video instead of looking for the easier way of doing it.but ,anyway, thank you for sharing!
It's not working for me but I'm trying to lengthen multiple clips. It only lengthens one
thank you
This tutorial is just what I needed! Thank you!
+Laurel Yay, and thank you for the comment :))
what a lifesaver
thanks so much
VERY VERY HELP-PHUL
thanks
This worked great for shortening the length of images, but it doesn't length the duration. Any ideas?
Yeah, I'm trying to increase my length by 2 seconds but it only does it to the last clip
yes, i typically work with several hours of footage, and to save time, ive started putting all the footage at 200% speed and then cut it down from 2 hours to 20 minutes, but now i need to return the remaining clips to their normal speed. Does anyone know how to do that?
@@100164 figured out one way. nest the images, then change sequence settings to higher frame rate, and then stretch the nested seq
Thanks
Awesome
thanks.
Thx!
thx
nice
thankuu
Thanks, very helpful!
Not working over multiple text slides.
Very inconvenient - it should be much much easier than this!
Sequence - Close Gaps removes all gaps between your clips.
Quite an interesting workaround you came up with but completely unnecessary ;)
bro this was 7yrs ago, it was still CS5 lmaoo
or you can just move them all individually
Wow Thanks! Just a suggestion, on the beginning of the video you should tell us to be patient because the point will reveal itself later in the video. I almost stopped watching and then I realized where this is going. Great!
it's easier to go to the left corner where the media are and select all you want to change the duration. that way it is not necessary to delete the gaps
I love you so much...
lol :)
Actually it was enough to perform Ripple Edit when changing the duration. But anyways now I know there's Color Matte option. : )
lmao i didnt think of that. thx
Everyone saying just mark "Ripple Edit, Shifting Trailing Clips"
This only works if you're actually changing the length of multiple clips at once.. if you have gaps that weren't created by changing length there's no use of it and that is why the solution in this video is still useful in some cases
Really smart work-around, but why not just check the "Ripple Edit, Shifting Trailing Clips" Checkbox in "Speed/Duration" ;-)
YOU FUCKIN RULE
not so good. i was looking how to change every picture duration by frames not by time.
God
Nice video, but please skip the irritating music next time :)
at 0:41 it has a check box that says ripple delete. just click that so you dont have to do all those image funny business lol
their is no way a feature so simple doesn't have a built in solution by adobe already???? i appreciate the tutorial but just to simply get rid of gaps to do all this is insane
y but try this vs 3-5k pic qq
how about try clicking on every space inbetween, and hit delete, that will delete every space. I should start my own youtube thing jjj
all you need to do to close gaps is click the arrow cursor in between gap and press backspace OMG!!!! LOL
Please SPEAK UP because I'm almost at FULL VOLUME.
wth
I coulda wasted so much time thanks!
It could be a way, but it's totally time wasting. Check SUPASTAR ENT's comment, that how people handle it.
@neilfennell yes - I was just about to comment that! wow what a long way to be going about it! Hope you sorted your method!?
Thank you
