I purchased the Hush a year ago and also just got the Hush X. I think it is a very good deal for the money. I travel quite often and needed something small. I’ve done a few mods to it already, and plan on a few more. Thanks for your review!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the guitar. Many of the guitars I review go off to charity after the review but I've kept both of the Hush guitars because I like them so much and I've just ordered the Hush pro and plan to do a review of that soon. 😊😀
@@guitar-academy I looked at the Pro (online not in person) but decided to go with the X. I travel with my Hush, a Nux wireless set and the Spark Go. It’s an amazing combo to have on the road.
There was no mention of the negative aspects of the Donnner when playing standing up. The neck tends to fall downwards because it is heavier and due to the position of the strap pin the guitar also falls forward. This makes playing uncomfortable because you need to exert some force with your right arm to keep the guitar in the correct position. It would be necessary to move the pin to secure the strap and put some weight back there so the neck wouldn't fall.
The only negative point I found with this guitar was the fact the the action was a little too low, which I did mention. The issue you've experienced or heard of isn't one I experienced. I even put the strap on after reading your comment to make sure and I couldn't find a balance issue. You might get the balance issue with the hush-1 because the rests are far lighter, but with this guitar the rests are that heavy that the balance is very good and in fact if you use a good quality lead you might have the opposite problem. I also have to make the observation that the strap pin is already on the heal of the neck and moving it would directly impact the playing area, so that's a really bad idea, sorry. I agree the guitar swings forward because the top rest is too heavy, but I didn't find this an issue. I'm going to make a second, follow-on video of this guitar addressing something I found with the action height that you might find useful. I'll demonstrate in that video that I found the balance to be fine. 🤔
@@guitar-academy In fact, I replicated a comment I heard from someone else, because I loved this guitar and intended to buy it. I found your review very professional and forced the subject. After your last comment I bought the guitar. You are good at what you do. Thanks.
@@FranciscoBM-g5h Thank you for raising an issue I missed. I'd love to hear what you think when you get it. It helps me because you will see it differently to me and see things I miss. 😊😀
The best review on the Donner Hush-X on UA-cam. Thank you very much. I bought one four months ago and don’t want to miss it anymore for travelling. I use it with a fender mustang micro headphone amp. Good combination!
The pickups are standard sized, so they would be easy to change. The Floyd Rose would be very difficult or nearly impossible unless you are a really good craftsman because of the shape of the guitar and the routing of the electronics. You'd have to set a new block of wood in a the tail end of the guitar and then route it out again to fit the trem system 🤔
Ok, I bought the Donner Hush-X and I really like the instrument, however, I maintain the criticism related to the strap. When I put it on the guitar falls forward until I can no longer see the strings. The strap also falls to the side of the neck, pointing towards the floor. This makes execution uncomfortable because you have to worry about keeping it in the best position. How did I solve this? I removed the bridge pin and placed it in the chamfered cut in the body, just above the string tuners. To prevent it from falling forward, I attach the strap fabric to the metal rod with a plastic hook, preventing the instrument from falling forward. Now, I play standing up, with the strap, in the most comfortable position. In truth, I always thought that the headstock on more conventional and iconic guitars was ugly and unnecessary and was there to balance the instrument/player action. Furthermore, all that wood was expendable when all the sound was extracted from electronic components.
Hi I am thinking of buying one of these cool instruments to learn guitar on…is this a good idea (will it be easy to place my fingers on and also strum?) or is it really aimed at advanced players? Thanks 🤩
It's not going to be easier to play, it will be about the same as most guitars. It's not so much for advanced players, but it's for people who want to carry the guitar around with them a lot, or who don't have much room to store the guitar away. I hope this helps 😊😀
The clean / "acoustic" sound of it is indeed surprisingly good (judging from the video). Love the headless design, not a lot of guitars out there that have that feature, but I do wonder if they'll do a full black option eventually too.
I just ordered a Hush X. Excited. I was considering an Enya Nova Go supersonic or whatever the electric one is but I'd rather use a Spark than a built in bad speaker.
@@RoofElmao I'm actually doing a video on the 3 different Hush guitars (1, X and 1 pro). My favourite now is the Hush-1 pro with the Hush-X a close second. Regarding which to buy, it depends if you want an electric guitar or an acoustic guitar because they are very different. 🤔
Thank you for this second comment. Without this comment I was going to ignore your first comment as spam or trolling because I haven't found any balance issue causing the neck to dive, though I did find the guitar swings forward. An easy solution to the guitar swinging forward is to thread the strap through the top rest or have a second attachment to the top rest (a bit of string or something). 🤔

I was thinking the same for the Fender micro-amp. I use it alot. Maybe a great lunch time or picnic combo.

excellent, thank you. would be nice to cover adjusting the action, and walking through when to adjust truss rather than just using bridge saddles.

Great review. I wonder if they would be capable of putting a sustainiac single coil and or a Floyd Rose trem as an option for personal customization.

Very nice review. Is the playability off the box good? I'm planning to use this as my main guitar
Yes, I played this as I showed in the video, straight out of the box. I've now set it up with slightly higher action but it really didn't need it. 😊
