- I remade one of my oldest videos because why the heck not? I might do like a side by side video or something. I certainly hope I’ve improved. I kept some things and changed others. Also I may potentially open commissions soon so, keep an eye out for that!
Really, that line about choosing her happiness over mine every time fits Stan just SO well it’s crazy.
What i'm learning after watching all your Hamilton/Gravity Falls animatics is that Ford has A LOT in common with Alexander
Man, the emotions are crackling in this one! Stan's really had it with Ford, hasn't he? Ford just looked so *sad* about what Stan's singing about, I wanna hug him. I wanna hug both of them!
side note: can you *believe* Gravity Falls is turning 10 in a week?! I certainly can't!

I love both your original and this version, it's so cool to see how your style has changed over time! Just watching this is making me emotional. I really like how in all of your animatics you acknowledge how Ford is the more selfish of the twins, something that gets often gets overlooked. Alex Hirsch said himself that arrogance was Ford's biggest character flaw.
Eh, I'd say they're about equal in selfishness. Stan often makes things about himself and his wants, like how he tactlessly brought up the Stan O' War when Ford was upset at him for breaking his project and not telling him until it was too late, ignoring Ford's poor, sleep deprived state when Ford invited him over and not even bothering to take a second to ask *why* Ford wanted the journal far away before threatening to burn the journal he obviously cared about. Who knows, maybe he could've suggested a better solution, like marking the whole portal page in black or something, instead of throwing a hissy fit and getting Ford lost in the portal for thirty years! And that's not to say Ford isn't selfish either, but it feels a bit unfair to me. Also, what do you mean people overlook Ford's selfishness? I hardly ever see anyone do that! They overanalyze and nitpick Ford's mistakes and brush Stan's mistakes under the rug! It's Stan's mistakes and flaws that get overlooked! I don't hate Stan in the slightest, don't get me wrong, I love him almost as much as I do Ford, it's just something that really gets on my nerves. I swear I'll probably regret this in an hour.
@@jacky-rubou You make very good points, and I do agree with most of what you said. Let me rephrase my earlier statement- the twins are both selfish, but Ford is far more arrogant in my opinion. Stanley beleives he has little self worth because that's what people have told him most of his life, whereas Ford was held in high esteem by almost everyone, leading to a much lower sense of self value in Stan and a much higher one in Ford. Also please don't take this as me hating on Ford I love him the Stan twins are my favorite characters. And yeah, you're right, not a lot of people take time to point out Stan's mistakes, I just feel like his are more obviously brought to light since he's painted as the screw up and to find Ford's you have to look past the spotlight he's painted in.
@@belovedbloodmoon While I do agree that he's arrogant, I'd argue that Ford does actually have self worth issues that surfaced in a different form than Stan's. He was placed on a pedestal by his father, pressured to always be this flawless super intellectual that would make tons of money, which made losing his dream school feel like the end of the world because his intelligence is all he's been actually praised for by his father. It's a known fact that praising a kid only for their skills makes them define their self worth on their achievements and get low self esteem as a result. His father expected Ford to make it big and that's all he really cared about Ford for as far as we see. Imagine hearing that all your father thinks of you is being a "Ticket out of Jersey"? That's gotta hurt, right? Ford then put so much of his self worth on being extraordinary instead of simply existing to be loved. He holds himself to such impossibly high standards because that's all he's ever been taught. Ford hides his self hatred deep under his arrogance and ego, because get rid of his smarts then what is he? Nothing? A six fingered freak? He doesn't think people could love him unless he proves himself worthy of their love with some grand gesture, inflating his ego, but marring his self esteem and hurting his loved ones in the process. He doesn't understand that he could be loved for who he is without being the hero, that he could simply be. Heck, his self worth is so low he's basically self-sacrificial, not caring if he dies so long as Bill is defeated. He thinks so little of himself, he urged Dipper to seal the Rift over saving him from dying in space or to run away when he was trapped under rubble!

Fr tho, you've improved so much, it's actually kind of insane to see!! How long did this take you to make? I'd definitely love to see a side-by-side comparison, it'd certainly put things in perspective!

That being said, ironically, I'm working on my own Gravity Falls animatic to Congratulations. I finished the storyboard over the weekend and I'm not drawing frames. Mines going to be a lot different from yours (it's about an Older Dipper blowing up at Ford when he re-offers the apprenticeship) but I hope I can live up to both of your animatics. Mine won't be done for a while because I can only work on the weekends due to my adult job (and I like to torture myself by adding details lol). So I'll prob hyperfixat on your until I'm done. LOL
Again, you did such an awesome job. I was so excited to see it be uploaded. :D
