I love the way Owen celebrates his goals. You can see real, pure joy in his expression at having been on the receiving end of excellent assists from his teammates. Its as every goal he scores would be his last-- he treasures every one of them and does not take them for granted.
People try to act like Owen was not a great player, or didint get to his potential; that guy was scoring all the time in like 15 minutes off the bench at Real. I have no idea why they were not pleased with him. Raul was garbage that year, but you cant bench him.
+CSeyoum Spot on, Owen was the new kid and Raul the boss, so Owen was stuck on the bench mostly but he had the highest goals per minutes ratio in the whole league, He was outstanding at Liverpool, frightening good, and that goal against Argentina in the world cup, One of the best youll ever see in the finals. But alas serious injuries took their toll and he fizzled out to young for me, but Owen was world class no doubt about it.
In my opinion I think non English mangers ware underestimating him, mainly because of his size and height, they tend to judge him base on his size not on his performance. with the exception Sven-Göran Eriksson who loves Michael Owen. When England brought in an Italian Manager Fabio Capello, he hated Michael Owen he straight away started benching Michael Owen and Eventually been left out of the team. He actually destroyed Michael's England career. The question is What did Fabio Capello achieved for England ? Nothing but a disaster. To me Michael should have stayed at LFC the team was built around him and Gerrard. When he left Liver Pool that's same year Liver Pool endup winning the European Championship .I love Michael he is a compete Gentle man. England would have a hard time replacing a number 10 like him again with what is happening the EPL where there are fewer and fewer English players these days.
Great video - the shots on the coach's instruction to Raul and in the spectators' box (is that Jorge Valdano) are priceless. Great pass by Beckham and great finishing by Owen - both simply legends. Farewell Owen =D
@hustler2406 He DID have the best goals to minutes ratio in LA LIGA (of which there are only 38 games.) You can look that up quite quite easily. He scored 13 goals in the league and only played 35 of those 38 games. If we take your figure of 35-40 minutes each game that would give him the same goals:minutes ratio as someone who played all the matches the whole way through and scored 26-28 goals.
This is probably the coolest thing ever especially with Michael Owen at Old Trafford now, the same ground Beckham used to Captain! This vid was really cinematic and well done. It's nice to see a change from the standard wide shot. I hope they implement this camera style in the future for all games. It makes it more personal which is something about football the media hasn't captured yet and that's probably why its not popular in America. Glory Glory Man United!
you are right but in spain this match is the only one called derby without being of the same town, this match is the most waited of the year in spain, because these teams are so special...
Pretty cool having two English lads in that Real Madrid side. Owen might have been injured an awful lot of recent years but he can always say 'I played in the same team as Zidane, Figo, Raul and Ronaldo'.
Nobody said that u have to care about the fact that Real is buying the best players ;) And u can like any team u want to like cuz that's the most beautiful thing about football, everybody likes a team for there own reasons. Anyway, HALA MADRID! HALA MADRID! HALA MADRID!
Me parece que no estaria mal que en la informacion del video hubiesse algunos nombres de jugadores del Barcelona - por ejemplo Ronaldinho entre otros! Puede que este documental sea un "must" para cada fan del Madrid...
one of the best strikers i've ever seen play. the bigger the pressure, the bigger the game, the better he plays.
Cool
Miss you, Owen!!
I love the way Owen celebrates his goals. You can see real, pure joy in his expression at having been on the receiving end of excellent assists from his teammates. Its as every goal he scores would be his last-- he treasures every one of them and does not take them for granted.
The glory days... The team was full of chemistry. Brings back memories!!

Correct.

Carra told him not to Join Real Madrid because he knee that would happen. Apparently during that time, the players were bigger than the manager
Spanish dont like english to be better
This clip is brilliant, truly eclipses what derbys are about. Talk about fierce atmosphere !!! Great to see Owen score.
Owen, one of the best in terms of pure finishing ability ever.
Such a shame that injury against Sweden in 2006 had such a devastating effect.
I've always enjoyed the roar of the bernabeau

That team when Madrid had Beckham, Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo was just ridiculous.
