- Royal Air Force Wittering or more simply RAF Wittering (ICAO: EGXT) is a Royal Air Force station within the unitary authority area of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and the unitary authority area of North Northamptonshire. Although Stamford in Lincolnshire is the nearest town, the runways of RAF Wittering cross the boundary between Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire
That Soldier is a been there seen it done it guy with no ego hence being so chilled and confident and at ease.
I'm surprised he didn't recognize the famous harrier jump jet, the world's first aeroplane that could take off and land vertically, ok I'm 56 and this was the iconic military plane when I was growing up
I'm 56 too and Harrier was main plane that helped win the Falklands war, Iconic 👍
@@duncan0610 that's so true
He's a frauditor. His intelligence spends to Google searching legislation... And thinking he's above it.
@duncan0610. Pointless/illegal war like them all
What always catches my attention is that still today on the opposite site of the road is a derelict building in a field with a sign for the bar and toilets although they have faded over the last 30 odd years.
It was originally called the P 1127, Airfix did a kit of it in the early 60's, I bought one from our local Wollie's !
This particular Harrier has some history. Badly damaged by debris during a rocket attack on Kandahar airbase, Afghanistan. It was returned to the UK for repair assessment and was deemed to be damaged beyond economic repair. In 2008 it was allocated for ground instruction use at Cottesmore. With the withdrawal of the Harrier fleet in December 2010 it was restored externally and, in April 2011, was placed on the gate at Wittering.
Just wanna say you're an absolute gem and your videos are gold
Thanks mate
The harrier did loads o successful low level missions during the gulf wars
Harrier jump jet....vertical takeoff mainly on aircraft carriers.
But you asked if he had a private Police FARCE not force! Who is going to admit to that? 😂😂😂
Generally on a RAF base they will have a detachment of RAF police. Similar role to the RMP within the Army.
And Mod plod.
Not MOD plod. Most MOD sites in fact do not have MDP. Certain criteria has to be met i.e ammunition stores, USVF or repayment sites will mean armed officers are based at certain sites.
Try RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, Home of the Eurofighter and home of the Quick Reaction Alert station. Regularly see them landing and taking off. can actually get really close to the base and runway.
You’ve got Lossiemouth too I’ve been there it’s amazing
Well done Cpl --- hope you get promotion before retirement - best wishes Tony
The Harriers claim to fame was in the Falklands War. Done pretty well.
The harrier was also a good ground attack aircraft, as demonstrated during the gulf War.
@@Daz69H By the gulf war the Tornado was doing the business more. Yes the Harriers had a great purpose.
You and Free Times Audit are my favourite auditors. You sound the same and have similar styles. You should do a duo.
They do in fact have a police force on site, but they aren’t private, they just aren’t civilian, RAF Police, they mainly have powers to arrest or detain individuals who are service personnel or civilians under service discipline. Just like the Royal Navy Police and Royal Military Police. Military police force regarded as a form of regiment. Great video though
Glad you enjoyed it man
@Auditing Yorkshire. Brilliant video and great convo with the Corporal.
I saw one of the jump jets at RAF Church Fenton in the early 1970's with my dad at the air display and it hovered over the crowd and fired its engines.
Many planes on show but two others were the red arrows and a Vulcan bomber.
Great Video AY, really interesting and loads of respect on display by all involved 👍
Big ups AY, stay safe buddy 👊
He can’t answer it but I can… The RAF have two different roles for the Police. You have “RAF Police” arresting people on base and issuing fines and what not. Then there’s what I want to do “RAF Police Officer” where your in charge of the police team
But it isn’t a “private force”
Although I agree with your audits of other public buildings I personally think you should leave the armed forces alone.
It was not an audit i went because of the plane its an interesting place
The f35 has replaced it
Like the Harrier Gate Guardian

Military audits are always the most entertaining because of their extreme entitlement.
