  • Treatment-resistant binge eating disorder (BED) presents a challenging and complex clinical scenario, characterized by recurrent episodes of consuming large quantities of food, often rapidly and to the point of discomfort, accompanied by a sense of loss of control.
Despite the availability of various therapeutic interventions, some individuals with BED exhibit resistance to traditional treatments. The conventional approaches to BED typically involve psychotherapy, such as CBT, interpersonal therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. Additionally, pharmacological options, such as SSRIs have been explored. However, when individuals do not respond adequately to these interventions, the disorder is considered treatment-resistant.
Lamotrigine can be one of the options for treatment-resistant BED. Watch this video describing the role of lamotrigine in BED.
