Just love the way you let loose. Can I ask a fairly basic question about the sky area - do you wet it then leave it and wet it again or just one wash? I’m having real challenges knowing how much water to use! But having fun learning.
Hi Fiona! I'm really glad you like the way I paint. I just follow my excitement and the processes I enjoy and people seem to enjoy that. Thanks for your support on Patreon! I really appreciate it! For this painting and the others that are similar I just wet once very thoroughly! I don't include the whole time I spend putting water on as I assume people will get bored and just leave. But because it is only attached at the top there is no issue with completely saturating the paper. In fact I think the next time I paint like this I will just saturate the page before attaching it then just use some drawing pins to attach it at the top I think. I'll do a video for you painting this size and style that is not edited on patreon so you can see exactly what I do. See you over there. Cheers Scott
Good one. I wasn’t sure and a few times I thought you’d screwed up but before you described what you saw I thought the same and my viewing angle changed completely with the scraped out bits. Second person I’ve seen do that I might have to give it a go if I feel brave. It would be good to give some details on materials, size and weight paper and what paints you like. Thanks Scott I’ve subscribed.
Hi Big C! It looked pretty bad for a while! It is a pretty fun thing to do but you use up a bit of paint and paper which is not cheap! The paints (colours), brushes and paper are always in the description below. Depending on if you are on a phone or on a computer there should be an arrow that you can press and it opens up the description or see more.... Let me know if you find it. It was painted on Rives BFK etching paper 280 gsm. Painted using butter soft lids, hake brushes, spray bottle etc. Let me know if you can't find the description. Cheers Scott
Very atmospheric! I wondered where it was going at one point but it’s lovely. I love granulation but just experimenting at the mo. Do you tend to use more granulating pigments Scott? The finish looks quite smooth and fine on the video. Thanks for sharing Jill 🇬🇧
Hi Jill, I do love granulation. I have not used the medium much though. I use quite a bit of cobalt blue, cerulean blue and raw umber. Also the mix I make of cobalt blue and light red granulates. I will take a close up photo of this painting and put it up on instagram so you can have a look. The video never shows the level of detail I would like! I am going to invest in a 4K camera soon and a good lens so I can show a good level of detail to you all. Patreon is really helping me to be able to do that which is amazing! Glad you liked it! I agree it was going down a bad path and looked pretty bad at one stage. Thanks for watching. Cheers Scott
@@ScottSwinson thanks for the info. I watch Richard Musgrave Evans a lot too, he depends on close ups a lot! Not sure what camera he uses but he does a couple of mins on the close up at the end. Good luck with the purchase.
Hi Bas, the paper does not buckle because it is only attached on one side (at the top) and so the rest of the sheet of paper as it expands is able to just get bigger and bigger and the edges can move out because they are not taped down. Glad you like the painting. If I have not answered your question clearly just let me know! Cheers Scott
Love it!
I am so happy to have found your channel. The abstracts are mesmerizing.

Thanks Susan! 🙏
Nice one Scott. Beautiful sky colours and those little highlights at the end really make it
Hi Decea! Thanks! The video does not capture the subtle colours very well! The images on Instagram and Facebook do a better job of this! 👍

@@ScottSwinson thanks for the advice - will take a little more time to get the paper damper! Looking forward to watching more of the vids

Scott, is this one for sale? I realize this is a year old, but it can't hurt to ask. Thanks for everything. Absolutely love your videos.
