The name is of Dutch origin, the company was formed in Belgium and the UK company was formed by the Fox brothers in 1923, it was later to become part of BMC and then Leyland cars who also owned Jaguar, by this cars era Vanden Plas had been closed and the name was used a bit like Ford used to use Ghia on the top of the range models.

The expansion tank sprung a leak which we replaced with new.
Van den plas is actually dutch! I wonder what the correlation is with jaguar!
