I am obsessed with this song and after having listened to multiple versions for hours and hours I can honestly say that Matthew is my favourite. No one brings me to tears over the beauty of the piece like he does. This is the kind of performance that makes composers so grateful. What a gift to share with the world. Bless you, bless you!
I have come a long way to this point and right from the very beginning you my fans have been solidly behind me It’s been a landslide but we always pull through together, your love and support are amazing. Believe in your self you can always achieve your dreams I have an upcoming project and your support and love is the drive I love love love you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A gorgeous version of Una Furtiva Lagrima. Polenzani is a very bright star on the stage of the Met. He has appeared in Anna Bolena, in Don Giovanni and now, L'Elisir d'Amore. He is outstanding in all three.

Beautiful, sublime! I have adored Polenzani since I saw him in Abduction From The Seraglio years ago in SF. Luckily, I was a super in that opera, so I got to see him sing the first aria from backstage--so lovely and touching. He really caresses these sweet love arias.
I just watched this opera in Met Opera in Demand. Matthew was outstanding. Great voice, great technique and a good actor at that. He and Netrebko had very good chemistry.
Immer wieder unfassbar ergreifend, perfekt - kunstvoll gesungen.

I love your calm approach and very sensitive interpretation, most especially the technique you employed on the first note and at the beginning of every phrase. Your legatos are so beautiful.
just saw this performance on great performances on public television. This guy is positively great, a sweet, sensitive voice with superb command. This is not even his best effort, he is brilliant throughout the production. He does not have the fuller, stronger sound of Pavarotti, but he does have an unmatched sweetness and tenderness on the softer tones. It was a delight to hear him all through the entire opera I think I do prefer a bit of "angst" in this tune however, which was missing.
Just saw him in Paris as Don Ottavio - OUTSTANDING. Both arias were thrilling, acting terrific, incredibly musical. All of the singing was superb, though the production was ridiculous.
A BEAUTIFUL voice. I saw him in Carmen in San Francisco. Great singing, abysmal acting--but it is opera and singing is what it's about. Being a great actor with a mediocre voice won't cut it.
Rolando Villazon applause for una furtiva lagrima was much much longer to the point that he sang the aria again in the production and got the applause for the same length of time practically
he was interviewed on a Met live radio broadcast and seemed to have a big ego. However I was surprised when I read about Leyontine Price a soprano I have admired over 40 years, she admitted to also having a big ego too, Must be the profession I suppose?
Joseph. He knows what his voice is, and how good he is. He also knows what he can't do. He wants none of what all the others are doing on Facebook; being out there and for those of us as fans, it's frustrating. He;s more interested in learning more and being a good dad and husband. Oh... and playing golf. It's really interesting. I finally met him after the last performance of Cosi, after hearing wonderful things about him from a colleague of many years. That night he deserved an encore and last year on February 9th, in L'Elisir he also deserved one. What he said to me was that encores have to be planned a head of time. Whether that was a story or the truth, I don't know, but his reputation as a person is that he's honest and everybody says he's the nicest most supportive person. I know Guan the new Fiordiligi in Cosi said he was so supportive, that it made it possible for her to go on stage when she took over the role and after the performance. The way I saw him deal with admirers outside the stage door, with patience and kindness, even though a long evening and commute home, was the best part of the evening, even though we had talked outside the dressing rooms. For me on stage in where it's at, but I wasn't sorry to go back stage once. I do agree, sometimes in interviews, he stumbles over concepts. I have no idea why.

Susanna Bezooyen due to covid 19 I am doing the same and I do love his voice and acting interpretation

Multumim Matthew Polenzani!!!!
Thank you for posting this. It makes me love my Italian heritage even more.

Such a sweet voice with terrific breath control!!
Spectacular. Thanks for posting and for letting the video run so we can hear the well deserved ovation.
Just coming back to this. While I love seeing him on video, the few chances I’ve had to see him live have phenomenal!!
His own way - beautiful rendition of this aria. Bravo Polenzani! Love Evanston Illinois!
Simply Beautiful!!!!!! Love Matthew's Voice!!!
Magnifica Aria y gran voz
He deserved all 2 minutes of those applause! Beautiful!

The best Una furtiva lagrima that I have heard sung with passion and control
A great artist with a beautiful voice and a beautiful heart.

His rendition is outstanding!
Maravilha!
LOVED seeing this in the theater. I never knew opera could be so fun.
Love this voice and this performance.
I don't think you have to compare him to anyone. He is splendid in his own right.
Super, what a wonderful voice.
Absolutely spectacular! Bravo! Magnifico!
jesus christ... what a great voice and technique!!
I love his voice 💜

I can actually see tears in his eyes during much of the aria.
Superb performance. Bravo!

Magnificent!!!
I really love his interpretation!
fantastic, i was crying...

I didn't think I was an opera fan, but I am now.

Always good to see!
Outstanding, fantastic!
Vortexicel gtnumes selected performers bravo Diana apres
Che bravo!
Idk where you go to see opera but nobody gets more than about 15 seconds where I'm from... seems like a pretty substantial applause.
Met audiences are generally pretty generous.
Bravo!
Just saw him in Paris as Don Ottavio - OUTSTANDING. Both arias were thrilling, acting terrific, incredibly musical. All of the singing was superb, though the production was ridiculous.
+Charles Tighe The eternal problem nowadays. "Modern" productions are taking down the perfection of almost every well executed perfomance these years.
Fantastic.
The most beautiful Una Furtiva I have ever heard.
I guess you’ve never heard Caruso’s version
Or Gigli's, Di Stefano's or Bjorling's or 300 other tenors.
@@tenorotti you forget Schipa.
Bravissimo xoxoxox!!!
Outstanding!
the best voice alive today. no better version can be found!
Why have I never heard of this guy before?
A BEAUTIFUL voice. I saw him in Carmen in San Francisco. Great singing, abysmal acting--but it is opera and singing is what it's about. Being a great actor with a mediocre voice won't cut it.
Una furtiva lagrima
L'elisir D'amore
Gaetano Donizetti
Yes, my error. He was definitely in Maria Stuarda, one of the trilogy by Donizetti. Thanks for the correction.
OH Man!! You are so lucky!!
Actually, He was in Maria Stuarda.
bravo
Rolando Villazon applause for una furtiva lagrima was much much longer to the point that he sang the aria again in the production and got the applause for the same length of time practically
This song must be a rite of passage for tenors. Everyone seems to have to weigh-in with a rendition. . .like "Ave Maria" & "Amazing Grace".
Thanks for the warning.
Best tenor in the world. At least top 3 omg! Peruvian Juan Diego Florez as well.
This aria is not sad just the opposite he's just realised that the girl he loves is actually in love with him!
il nuovo MARIO LANZA
Ecco, molto Mario Lanza! strepitoso!

Ehh a mix tenor again, this is for pop music
In the ultimate backhanded compliment, I would gladly get drunk to engage in a romantic relationship with Pretty Yende.
Metropolitan
Dommage, faux dans les aigus...sinon...
************
I agree with you, but you are definitely going to get some backlash on that comment!!!
Without a doubt, Matthew is better than Pavarotti!
You're INSANE if you think that! He's good but his voice is nowhere near a beautiful Pavarotti's.......
good voice but he is a bit too egotistical for me (met interview)
Got it wrong.
He's having such a good time. He's the nicest guy.
he was interviewed on a Met live radio broadcast and seemed to have a big ego. However I was surprised when I read about Leyontine Price a soprano I have admired over 40 years, she admitted to also having a big ego too, Must be the profession I suppose?

Joseph. I read this again. I wish you could meet him. This is 180 degrees from the truth.
Meh… not my favorite or an attractive tenor. 😎😴
he's got a terrible wig on haha he's better looking in person!!
