First time visiting this area and its a really great spot to take the family. Lots of outdoor activities to choose from (except basketball courts). They have a relatively decent sized playground for the kids and if you continue to make your way down, you'll have access to the waterfront. Not too many people relatively speaking, because it's not so easily accessible, meaning you have to hike ~1 mile down. But its better this way. Doesn't lead to overcrowding =)
I've always loved St Edwards State Park. In recent history I take my grandson & we hike the Grotto trail. About 30 yrs ago a womens treatment center, Residence XII existed on the grounds, as did the Catholic church. The seminary had been closed for years. I stayed there for 30 days. We weren't allowed to go down to the lake, but 3 of us headed down every chance we had. This place saved my life & I'll be staying there in February 2023 for my 60th bday. The hotel & staff are beyond epic. Happy 2023!
