  • Pretty standard stuff when working on a vintage Traynor. Old mods. Can caps still in circuit. Bad solder from previous repairs. These are great workhorse amps and usually have seen some poor work and mods, probably because they are hand-wired and easy to change as well as built solidly with good components and iron. I've modded a few in my day but I am happy to return this one to the amp it was meant to be. Not a Fender or a Marshall but something in-between with tons of vibe of it's own.

Thanks for subscribing! There will be more like this, I promise. I've got a number of customers in the cult of Traynor.

I recently rebuilt one. The bias cap rating calls for 250VDC according to the schematic. 160 volt caps will barely handle the surge voltage. Cant remember where I found 10@250v caps, must have been Mouser or Digikey. The usual vendors don't have em.

Thanks for the comment! Schematic also says there's only 60V hitting the first cap. Have you measured what the voltage surge is? I seriously doubt these caps are in any peril.
