  • On Monday, March 13, 2017, and in conjunction with AMC the LBJ Library hosted a special preview screening of “The Son.“
Based on the “New York Times” best seller and Pulitzer Prize-nominated novel, “The Son” is a sweeping family saga that spans 150 years and three generations of the McCullough family. The ten-episode, one-hour drama traces the story of Eli McCullough’s (Pierce Brosnan) transformation from good-natured innocence to calculated violence, as he loses everything on the wild frontier, setting him on the path to building a ranching-and-oil dynasty of unsurpassed wealth and privilege. “The Son” deftly explores how Eli’s ruthlessness and quest for power triggers consequences that span generations, as the McCulloughs rise to become one of the richest families reigning in Texas.
Following the preview, lead actor Pierce Brosnan; co-creator and executive producer Philipp Meyer; and showrunner and executive producer Kevin Murphy joined former LBJ Library Director Mark Updegrove on stage for a discussion.
“The Son“ premieres on AMC, Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 8/9 p.m. CT.

Interesting. I wrote a short story a few years ago titled "Rebel Journey" about a young man from Mason TX, Ned Collins, who goes east to fight in the Civil War and the story alternates back and forth between life in Texas on the world's most dangerous frontier then and now when some university students find old relics on the Gettysburg battlefield connecting them to Ned. Gee, no one ever offered to make a movie of it? Ha.

I must say in THE SONS defense, it was a very good book, well written , ........Phillip is a great author, the movie is somewhat redundant and long winded..
