I would love to see more of these test-product videos. There’s something so fun and satisfying about watching them as someone who daydreams about building different obstacles all day. Favorite channel right now, thanks for all you do.
As a beginner all these obstacles look cool I would buy the ride on grind rails for sure and I am 54 so not a little kid but I would love something like this to learn what a grind even feels like it’s hard to find beginner obstacles!
@@shannonhaley9126 Well I have done boardslides on a curb but have no idea about grinding or sliding a rail would be nice to see a beginner obstacle to help make the transition easier, especially for us old dudes, and I assure you there is a lot of us old dudes out there either just starting or coming back to skateboarding, can't say anything about others but as a 54 year old I have the buying power of a 54 year old.
Dude if you’re 54 and don’t already know how to skate for real i would stay away from rails of any sort. Not hating but you’re gonna get injured, stay on stuff that’s more stable
Love seeing the process! I'm a product manager/developer and this is great insight into your products! Ride ons would be fun for new skaters for sure, maybe combine that with something like the slapstick's small transition? Like a ride on slapstick so it's wide enough not to slide/tip over but you can still ride on and slappy/roll up from the side. Love your stuff. We have slapsticks and quarter pipes at our shop. Cheers guys!
I like how you guys actually have something to say and your titles are super straightforward. No bait, no asking for more attention, simply great presentation. Never change, just keep going.
So cool!!! My son and I are big fans of the Keen ramps and obstacles we have been able to collect so far. Looking forward to adding to our collection Hopefully these are available soon!!!!
Yo Corey, I highly recommend lying flat on your back on a floor with your hands clasped over your pelvis and your big toes touching with heels 3-4 inches apart. It's a very mellow stretch for your lumbar and hips. I do this on a yoga mat for 60-90 seconds at a time whenever I have a lower back injury and it helps relieve tension without causing stress to the area.
Yes exactly I am a beginner and an older dude and would love to see some ride on obstacles, it's not so easy learning tricks as an older guy so anything that could help would be great!
@VintageSk8 I've been skating since 84. Lately, I've been seeing a lot more older guys picking skating up. We set up a bunch of lower impact diy obstacles at my local park (landsdowne bowl). My knees and ankles are over the constant impact.
@ Yes so many older dudes either starting or coming back to skateboarding, I think it’s great kind of a testament to my generation, anyway as a beginner any kind of beginner obstacle would be great to purchase because I haven’t been able to find anything worth a darn! I even purchased a plastic parking block but it just moves around fell on my bum more than I can remember! lol
@VintageSk8 we (somehow) get parking blocks, road signs, and other various materials for our projects. Also, We mix concrete. You can't beat concrete parking blocks. Some concrete places will sell damaged or chipped blocks, a serious discount 20 bux. Cheers.
@VintageSk8 weird that my reply has been removed. I am just talking about skateboarding obstacles. We aquire parking blocks & road signs and various materials for diy obstacles. One option is to find a concrete company that sells parking blocks. They sell damaged ones super cheap. 20 bux around us. Cheers.
Hope your back gets better! I need something like this for my garage! 45 year old skateboarder looking for simple obstacles. Keep it up! Love the vids! 🛹🤙🖤
I'm always down for beginner obstacles and would something to really start learning slides and grinds. The recycled plastic surface is also cool. I think there's something to the idea of a plastic "flat bar" with a ride-on and that plastic stuff.
Only a true skater says 'I want to build something mellow I can skate for the time being' instead of 'I should probably see a medical professsional' 😆 Love you guys 💪
Would love to see the slap stick but instead of straight ramps on each side, do two tiny quarterpipes, with a double bar in the middle. This will help teach people transition tricks & spine transfers without the need for a whole big space for a mini pipe, they'll also be able to focus on the techniques of lip tricks without the fear of heights, AND can help people get over the fear of ollying into truck grinds on rails with the extra stability of the double bar.
I love those slappy/ride on grind obstacles. One thing I think could help with them tipping would to flare out the bottom of them so you could also maybe slappy them for real. Add some rips to it to help it not move more. But a A-Frame style "slappy" box that's the width of a curb. Sign me up
I’ve been tossing around ideas for a new diy obstacle. I’d like to figure out a slappy curbish type of thing but made outta wood. I’m not sure how it would skate as far as tipping over. Also thinking maybe an angle iron coping. Just have to bend it out to match the front angle slightly to mimic the slight angle of a parking block
I was just watching you talk about weight and shipping and it occurred to me that although it might be a hurdle designing them, maybe reservoirs built in that you could fill with water or sand to weigh the obstacles down. people could adjust the weight of the obstacle per their desire.
Don’t go to a chiropractor first! Go to a sports rehab or get an mri 2:52 Had some back issues that made it hard to lay down, stand and sit. Every time I went to the chiropractor it made it worse. Went to a sports rehab, learned some stretches and it’s never come back
Would you please consider making a simple 8ft double sided curb with the plastic top modeled on the dimenstions of the best ones out there in CA? In the Midwest and East Coast it can be pretty hard to find any good ones, so this would potentially open up a lot of places simply by them having decent cement.
Been skating for 26 years and they look fun. Would be great if they didn’t tip over or shift so you could also do slappy’s. Also wonder how the Aframe one would be with the square composite instead of coping. Maybe easier for beginners or learning new ride on tricks.
I feel if you made them modular, that would add a little something. have a super accessible ride but the modularity would make it more exciting for more competent riders, and keep it more fun for beginners for longer. if you had it splittable, harder ride on and a easier ride on that combine to. make a longer ride on ride off rail. alternatively you could have a super mellow ride on pole jam that has exchangeable chocks so can be converted to a harder pole jam.
maybe a ride on ride out, like a rainbow rail for beginners that doesnt know how to drop off a curb yet. and the rail actually seens like a harder slappy stick 👀
those things are sick. Maybe add some materials for weight and something for friction and I bet kids would absolutely love those slick little bastards. Hell I'm 46 and I want one.
Hey Cory I love the new material I’m going to take inspiration from keen ramps and put it into my diy!!🤙🏻 hope you guys can follow the process. Ps we’re based in La 🤫
also o man i love a good p rail, skateboard, inline, scooter, hell we would bring ours out for snow skate, snowboarding, didnt matter, they just fucking rule if you ask me
I live in France and there is no way I'd be buying wood from you to be imported across the pond. However a set of plans for an obstacle that I could make myself would be good. All the accurate measurements and a cutting list to take the guess work out of it. I know it's not hard to DIY stuff yourself, I've made enough myself over the years, but another product possibility outside the shores of the US?

Love seeing the process and transparency, its what makes KEEN so dang watchable thanks team !!

Wax the shit out of curb at the end of a driveway. Ride up to and parallel to it. You're gonna eat it & you're gonna get that grind

Got my transition ledge a few weeks back and have been loving it! Wish I had space for another!
All 3 look fun to me. I don’t skate much anymore but like simple stuff to get back into the groove.

Work off of a table if you back is hurt. As a 51 year old skater, i enjoy some of the low impact ride on obstacles.

Bio freeze Corey. As a 49 year old skater, I swear by it. Loved the vid. Dale rocks! Get better homie!😜😎🤙

Great ideas. The A frame looks the funniest. Slapping into it seems like it would be fun to play with. Keen ramps merch?

On the ride on grinds, make the sides slanted and youll be golden i think. I used to use a piece of lumber with steel rails had a lot of fun with that
I was just watching you talk about weight and shipping and it occurred to me that although it might be a hurdle designing them, maybe reservoirs built in that you could fill with water or sand to weigh the obstacles down. people could adjust the weight of the obstacle per their desire.
I think a small skinny manual pad with one side angled for ride on grinds with one edge that butter bench material might work better.
Maybe combine the ride on with the A frame obstacle.

I agree with Dale, smoother transition in would lower the entry level for new skaters

Maybe angle the ride-on sides to be sloped just enough to prevent tip overs. Looks ok for grinds or slides as newbies and useable as an older skater

Those look fun I'm definitely gonna try to make one. The ollie on ride off looks sick like reverse it.

I thought Corey was wearing a Scooby Doo hat at first.

I need to come to Cali if no ones throwing events at this time of the year.
The Beetlejuice shirt. 🤣
Whats is the plastic material?
What if the A frame obstacle tapered off to give the coping a downward slope?
puzzlefy the slapstick!!
How about a Keen (inside round maybe) Corner ..and maybe a Keen Kinker..
What if you added ride on grind to the triangle one ?
But for beginners I feel like a tiny rainbow shape would work best
You guys should build a small aframe with a rail
Hey Cory I love the new material I’m going to take inspiration from keen ramps and put it into my diy!!🤙🏻 hope you guys can follow the process.

Long A frame ride on so you can hit combos… yadadimean?
1 angel of entry would work best.
Don't get adjusted before you get your back looked at by an actual dr. You could end up way worse.
Always quality
