What makes her father’s reaction so much more touching is the fact he’d just received a cancer diagnosis, but never told his family until after the BGT finale so as to not take away from his little girl’s moment. The cancer ended up being terminal, but he got to see his little girl shine, and you can it in his eyes that the emotions he shows is more than just fatherly pride.

Very impressed with Beau Dermott. From her 12 years old, she equals and surpasses adult singers. To me ( and many users around the world ! ), Beau DERMOTT is the real winner of Britain's Got Talent 2016. A big THANK YOU Beau-tiful. I wish you all the best. Please never give up the stage, your voice/gift brings and will bring happiness to us ;-)
I can't count the times I have listened to this performance and get goosebumps. She does it extremely well, and its one of my all time favs to listen to. I feel for her losing her dad to Cancer. I have had a few friends and family pass away from it. I always listen to this as a tribute to them trying to Defy Gravity
She brought the true meaning of the song ... no one ever thought she could handle this epic song and she blew it out of the park. She truly defied gravity!
I’ve seen this dozens of times since it first aired! I will never forget it. I hope she goes far in her musical career! What a sweetheart and what an outstanding voice!
I have watched this over 100 times and she is so SOOO amazing. Most beautiful voice on a 12 yr old girl! First watching I was blown away by her. Absolute perfection.
I love Simon's expression right before the music starts, like he's trying to hide a grimace because he's expecting a complete train wreck. The second time we see him he's moved to "hmmm", and the third time you can see he knows she's got it.
She COMPLETELY transformed when she started to sing. This child was MADE for Broadway. The expression. The projection. The theatrics. The small spark of insanity. Amazing.
@@mikdavies5027 alright mate calm down. Just wanted to compliment this young lady, wasn’t gonna google “British version of Broadway” just to leave a UA-cam comment.
@@mikdavies5027 it’s not hero worship you knob I just only know American references because I’m fucking American. Jesus Christ. Just take it as a compliment and quit being a prick.
it's probably because they've got the music at home and she rehearses it all the time. they're also musical fans. You can see it with how passionate they are with that song.
It's fitting Beau chose a Broadway melody because she is a performer not a singer. As soon as the music started the nervous young girl disappeared and a strong, determined and immensely talented young woman appeared. It was amazing, the dramatic movements to accentuate certain notes, the low to high range and the gasps that are part of sweeping Broadway musicals were jawdropping and gave me, just as the judge, goosebumps. I've seen some great singers and been blown away by some unexpected voices but none were on a par with Beau. As stated there are those unexpected voices that surprise you all the way through. However with Beau the surprise lasted for merely a moment because it became clear that she OWNED that song, she commandeered the stage and had the audience in the palm of her hand. I've watched the vid several times now and it WOWs me each time. I hope she won. Let me also thank AY.
Thank you IM. I see you have an avatar whilst most of us ninnies have letters. Shame she didn't win, but talent like hers, once it's showcased will get her attention and eventually work. There's a vid of her singing Memory from a year earlier on another talent show. I figure she has a kind of opera/Broadway mix.
I would've said not JUST a singer, because, clearly, incontrovertibly, the girl has pipes like extremely few her age, and many older pro singers. Small distinction, but noteworthy.
A pure MASTERCLASS! Watched this video several times since years... always a great pleasure. A so big talent in a so small body... Inspiring! And after the song, the atmosphere is amazing! It gives goose bumps. Makes u wanna b there.
3 years later and I am still watching Beau slay that song in the most powerful way. I just absolutely LOVE her most vocal fan girl who I think may have scared her friend with her screams. That's the sort of passion that we all need.
declan Webb I'm pretty sure it's a version of 'Somewhere only we know' - sung by Keane & also by Lily Allen. The bit that I got it from is the line 'someone to rely on' as I think that's the bit you really hear more than just background music.
I love how she changed from an ordinary young shy girl into the extraordinary sophisticated performer as soon as the music began. The moment looks like when she got possessed by Elphaba. It is so phenomenal!
I love this audition and have listened to it many times. For Beau's incredible talent and also a tiny bit for those little girls in the audience, lol. Especially the one on the left as you face them who is so overwhelmed with excitement it completely explodes from her, while her friend looks at her as if to say "you alright there, mate?"
Beau is astounding. At 12 yrs old....to be able to sing like that. Idina Menzel , who originally sang this song in the Broadway cast of Wicked....said Beau gave her goosebumps when she saw this video. You cannot get a bigger endorsement than that. Beau.....thank you for sharing your gift with the world!! 🌹
Beau absolutely owned that song. No doubt. However, according to a Google search, Idina had a net worth of $10 Million dollars, and she has been seen and heard on multiple stages and screens around the world. She must be doing something right.
I've seen this so many times and all these years later, a little girl with a defiant look of accomplishment still inspires an old lady to defy gravity. Thank you, sweetheart ❤
What an amazing performance! Goosebumps garanteed! I love how you could see the change from Beau int the character and stay in it throughout the whole song!
This little girl was the most rememberable performance I've ever seen on BGT and AGT,,, I will never forget how she brought out feelings in me that I was completely unfamiliar with..
What amaze me is the transformation that happens as soon the music begins. She's very nervous, everybody can see that. Her eyes change completely, she became a "monster" of confidence, specially at the end of the song. After that, she is back to "normal", very sky.
Its not uncommon. As long as she's singing, she is in control. But before and after, one is dealing with people again, and suddenly she's more vulnerable.
The song is supposed to be sung with confidence and power. That song is hitting high As and it supposed to be belted at the end with a huge corchando cut off. How do I know ? I'm trained in choral arranged music and singing this song is very hard.
I cannot get enough of this! The chills I got from this version....this is just incredible! Absolutely incredible! Fantastic! How is this girl not the voice of this song for Wicked!? She owns this song!!
I don't know if I've ever heard a song sung so well that it gave me chills virtually the entire time.....absolutely sensational by this youngster. I've probably watched this performance hundreds of times over the past few years and never get tired of it! SENSATIONAL.....I am soooo proud of her and I don't even know her! LOL

I’ve watched this audition over 100 times. My parents said I had perfect pitch and harmony tones in music. I didn’t hear one stray note. She’s unique.
I like how her voice is much more mature than her age. It's got more weight to it than a typical child's voice. She's got a future in music.
Mo Poppins yep
Mo Poppins- She has a future in Broadway.
Yes, and she's a real performer 👍
Well-put, Mo!
Thank you so much Anthony Ying for posting a full video. She's AMAZING!!
I KEEP coming back to this wonderful posting Anthony....Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to share this GEM with us all.....Cheers Mate

Please never give up the stage, your voice/gift brings and will bring happiness to us ;-)
Thank you Eden i will pass the comments on to Beau :-)
Beau has been attending singing lessons with Joanne Edwards at StagePro Academy for since 2011
Merci.
Happy Holidays ;-)
its been 6 years but im still listening to this audition. really gives me chills evertime i hear Her voice :)
Me too. I just love this song, specially her singing this song. 💛
I found this a few months ago and I watch it every night, youtube seems to leave it permanently on my home page
Exactly! 💕
..me too..she's amazing..
I can't count the times I have listened to this performance and get goosebumps. She does it extremely well, and its one of my all time favs to listen to. I feel for her losing her dad to Cancer. I have had a few friends and family pass away from it. I always listen to this as a tribute to them trying to Defy Gravity
"I'm going to be singing "Defying Gravity" from the musical, Wicked..."
Me, a theatre nerd: *gasps in musicals*
I've seen her perform live as a special guest, singing this same song it was just I can't describe it
I too have saved Beau*s performance and watched it every time I put my phone on any talent contest.

Love this comment lol
I sing it all the time. Not nearly as brilliantly as she does.
I love how her dad sings with her. Pure proud Dad!
He probably had no choice but to learn the words - imagine how many times he heard her practicing this around the house lol
I particularly like how her Dad sings along, unconsciously
yeah that was amazing
I'm so happy he got to see this before he died
I cried when I saw him singing along.
@@hypnotherapy69 he died??!
@@لاإلهإلاالله-ر8ع yes of terminal cancer
I am so pleased to see how happy her father is. Sadly he lost his battle with cancer recently. Voice of an angel
She brought the true meaning of the song ... no one ever thought she could handle this epic song and she blew it out of the park. She truly defied gravity!
Amazing and powerful! All the best, Beau! See you on Broadway!
I’ve seen this dozens of times since it first aired! I will never forget it. I hope she goes far in her musical career! What a sweetheart and what an outstanding voice!
I love how she really plays the part of the musical with the song. The feircness on her face, the way she sings, all the arm movements, it's amazing!

The look in her eyes at the end. She's on fire.... really good
i've lost count how many times i've watch this..... and I still can't stop myself from shedding tears.
romeo nazaire me too, everytime i come to listen to this song. Tears!!!
😂😂😂me too
Exact same for me .......
romeo nazaire u know.

She COMPLETELY transformed when she started to sing. This child was MADE for Broadway. The expression. The projection. The theatrics. The small spark of insanity. Amazing.
Hera. Don't you mean she was MADE for the West End, she's English, NOT American!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@mikdavies5027 alright mate calm down. Just wanted to compliment this young lady, wasn’t gonna google “British version of Broadway” just to leave a UA-cam comment.
@@Lilith_2191 Just to say 'MADE for the West End' would have been sufficient! We don't all 'hero-worship' America, mate!
@@mikdavies5027 it’s not hero worship you knob I just only know American references because I’m fucking American. Jesus Christ. Just take it as a compliment and quit being a prick.
I love the way her father is mouthing the words along with her to help her through it.....AS IF SHE NEEDED HELP!
Ron Richo I think he was just singing with her
it's probably because they've got the music at home and she rehearses it all the time. they're also musical fans. You can see it with how passionate they are with that song.
That's her brother mouthing the words, dad's backstage w/mum.
That's her brother mouthing the words, dad's backstage w/mum.
Her daddy has since passed away from cancer , you can see the love and pride in his eyes x RIP
Astonishing that these sounds came from a 12-year-old child. I got goosebumps several times. Incredible.
She came in fifth by popular vote. I'd have voted for her!
Not a singer, well now, that is your opinion not mine. Not all singers can sing every song to its limit.
Well she's performed with the London Philharmonic and is on tour this year.
I’m not sure about this, but from what I can see, this audition is one of the highest viewed on UA-cam. God bless her. 💕
I’ve watched it half a million times. Lol
@@pn1457 😂🤣👍
3 years later and I am still watching Beau slay that song in the most powerful way.
I just absolutely LOVE her most vocal fan girl who I think may have scared her friend with her screams. That's the sort of passion that we all need.
"Push The Golden Buzza!!!" that little girl cracks me up when she screams that, Ive been looking for this lol
The looks on her face while she is singing, completely transposed into someone else!
She is brilliant!!!
also, at the end of the song, the way she finishes...she gives that look and pose.."Take That!"
Do you know the background music of her performance after she sang
declan Webb I'm pretty sure it's a version of 'Somewhere only we know' - sung by Keane & also by Lily Allen. The bit that I got it from is the line 'someone to rely on' as I think that's the bit you really hear more than just background music.
Totally that look at the end is unbelievable. I just crushed everyone and I know it.
I love how she changed from an ordinary young shy girl into the extraordinary sophisticated performer as soon as the music began. The moment looks like when she got possessed by Elphaba. It is so phenomenal!
her stage presence is INSANE

I love this audition and have listened to it many times. For Beau's incredible talent and also a tiny bit for those little girls in the audience, lol. Especially the one on the left as you face them who is so overwhelmed with excitement it completely explodes from her, while her friend looks at her as if to say "you alright there, mate?"
those two girls in audience deserve the golden buzzer, real little hooligans :)

Dear West End,
Please make her Elphaba when she's older.

I would like to see her play Elphaba. She's perfect for the role

100% Agree
Beau absolutely owned that song. No doubt. However, according to a Google search, Idina had a net worth of $10 Million dollars, and she has been seen and heard on multiple stages and screens around the world. She must be doing something right.
what a Beautifully inspiring honor for Beau
oh happy day
I've seen this so many times and all these years later, a little girl with a defiant look of accomplishment still inspires an old lady to defy gravity. Thank you, sweetheart ❤
and thank you for making me cry now too.
Great comment Michelle.
This girl blew me away with that voice! My opinion : she definitely should have won. Can't wait to hear more from her down the road.
What an amazing performance! Goosebumps garanteed! I love how you could see the change from Beau int the character and stay in it throughout the whole song!
yes!!
I watch this talented little lady at least once a week and she still brings me to tears...soooo good!!!!
Absolutely! I thought I was alone

It got me goosebumps
Her singing gives me fire and power!!
She deserved that gold buzzer. She's amazing.
Should I be ashamed about the fact that this makes my cry every time I watch it?
Same im sitting here crying for some reason

Absolutely not.
She radiates a lovely sweet personality to add to the fantastic voice and amazing stage presence. A future star is born.
I have watched this video a dozen times and still get amazed on how good this young girl is....👏👏👏👏
MavsDGreat ;
This little girl was the most rememberable performance I've ever seen on BGT and AGT,,, I will never forget how she brought out feelings in me that I was completely unfamiliar with..
Wow! What a talent! Her voice, facial expressions, and physical expressions we're perfect!
What amaze me is the transformation that happens as soon the music begins. She's very nervous, everybody can see that. Her eyes change completely, she became a "monster" of confidence, specially at the end of the song. After that, she is back to "normal", very sky.
Andrés Paz i love your comment
She released her inner Diva.
It's true. You can clearly see her psyching herself up for the performance just before she starts singing.
She owns this song!!
amasing omg😋💋💋💋❤❤❤💋❤💋❤
I don't know if I've ever heard a song sung so well that it gave me chills virtually the entire time.....absolutely sensational by this youngster. I've probably watched this performance hundreds of times over the past few years and never get tired of it! SENSATIONAL.....I am soooo proud of her and I don't even know her! LOL
Amazing voice.... She has a born talent. I like it very much. And Anthony, thank you posting the video...
