Dang I shoulda waited a month lol. I put oil shocks on the last model, a cooling fan and can run a whole 3s pack no problem. So I'm pretty sure this one could handle 3s. I can hit double back flips on the littlest ramps with 3s. Great truck!!! BTW you're now #1 on my rc guy list. Kevin has been relegated. Lol
My son has the older brushless one, and is now on his third body shell. Awesome little truck, and great that Haiboxing seem to be listening to their customers, and have fitted oil shocks. 👍🏻
So much love for these. Off the back of your last review, bought the brushless truggy version and my 5 yr old loves it. We all do, in fact. Does pretty much everything our Big Rock and Vorteks can do and never seems to break. With bigger wheels, oil shocks and a 45c 2S, ours will do 30mph, according to my SkyRC. I’ve just noticed in the last couple of days the Truggy version of the PRO is starting to appear online. Price is up quite a bit from the “non PRO” brushless but still an awesome entry into RC for under £100.
got mine friday took it out for its first bash today it goes really well for such a small car. only two things ill be changing an thats to put hub extensions on it an a different wheel set
They are sooooo much fun I ended up buying 2 so can lend one out for visitors , with oil dampers and the green wtltoys buggy wheels(024?) they rock even more ,managed get them cheaper than the brushed in a bgood sale.Finding it is becoming a go to truck just for no worries fun.
Awesome Phil, I had a feeling this was going to be something special when I saw the spec. HBX are absolutely smashing it lately. I think for the price point this one is in a league of its own.
its in the same league as the MJX Hypergo 16207-16210. It has its advantages and it has its weaknesses. The point why i would say the HyperGo is the better of the 2 is: its 3s capable and it has a seperate Receiver, so you can integrate it in your fleet and use your own Remote Control. (I own 2 Hypergos and one 16889A Pro and i love them all :-)
Wow this thing is awesome! I had my eye on the predecessor for a while now. Seems like I'll put that on my whish list. And, yes oil shocks and li-pos make a huge difference. Thanks for the video, mate.
Been using friction shocks, for over 1 year with this, had to wrap tape around the springs to make them harder, I swapped out the whole drive shafts front and rear to metal, including the drive cups, and bought a heat sink, for my 3s, worked full pack, and didn’t burn out, hit 70km/h on my truck, until the diffs ripped up, and had to spend more on new ones, this truck surely is one of a kind, should’ve waited a couple of years for this pro version 😞, spent like 200 dollars on this old version, could’ve saved a lot with the pro!!
Got the older version and think it's great, if you haven't got one guys get one to throw in your rc bag as a spare truck, or if you haven't got any rc get one it's a great first truck 👌🏻
Looks like a brushed version of the Blackzon Slayer. Same chassis. I think I have seen several brands similar. That brushless/lipo combo is a game changer for it though!
2s is a little bit lame so i made it a 3s basher. Uhhh now its a beast and a real challenge to control it. So much fun and its always the last car driving out from the battlefield on its own. 😁
You can't beat the 16889 in fun to cost. I bought the brushless one then bought all the metal upgrades and the same size motor as the new pro but in a slightly higher KV, it's awesome!
I have the normal version and love that truck. I might have to pick this up. It's totally unruly but lots of fun, those oil shocks would help some I'd imagine.
sweeet! i was just going to buy the green one last night. this one comes with all metal gears, more metal! better motor, better battery, oil shocks, cooler color etc haha this is a must buy! I was going to buy green one till I saw your notification, while I was waiting in drive thru of taco place. haha thanks for review tomley rc! :D
had put those shocks on my brushed one, a hard roll over slammed a rear arm down ripped open the lower plastic shock mounting loop like it was nothing. other than that happening it was handling bumps etc really well, unlike the stock pogo sticks.
Best unbreakable RC I've ever owned was the losi mini SCT 24 never ran any other batter than 3s apart from one front chick still even running original spur pinion and a 9 year old 3s pack lol
Iv just got a toy grade mustang GT 1:20 scale with moter and transmission upgrade and pinion upgrade had to glue the tires on using a 10amp esc and 7.2 ni . Brushed micro 050 soon I'll get 9v lipo to kill it with lol
I had this one for a week and with the stock esc i have some speedruns with 3s lipo: at 25mph( the 2s top speed) it pull wheelies at full throttle!!💯💪🤭🙃😀🌟
I got the SG version from Banggood, it's awesome, the most durable rc I have ever owned. I take it to the bike park by my house,it has huge dirt jumps and it has taken quite a beating there. The only thing I changed was the tires. I put Rock beast 1.75 crawler tires on it and what a difference. So much grip now. I would definitely recommend trying those tires on yours.you will be amazed by the difference in handling.
@@txv611 I don't have the packaging and I got the tire size wrong they are 1.55 . I'm not at home right now but these are also a good tire for it and it's a 1.55 as well. They are Good year wrangler by RC4WD.
Now that truck just needs 25mm hub extensions some proline trenchers and the baron drift truck body. Just turn around front body post and punch 2 holes in the back of the body. My favorite little baby notorious

Bought this about a month ago and been bashing in the skate park with it. Tough little truck, I couldn't even bend the driveshaft which my other RC seems to suffer when bashing in the skatepark.
Looks freakishly similar to the NUOKE Ravage brushless and of course the brushed Bezgar 7 and its Haiboxing counter part. And the Blomiky. But you got me. I'll buy one. Just for the wheelie bar.
Picked up an hbx 16980sa becasue it s like this . I think it s a newer model of this design . It’s really fast on 3s .
