Battery electric multiple unit (BEMU): Caltrain is piloting a BEMU train in the San Francisco Bay Region in Northern California, USA, that can run on electricity or batteries. The train will operate on the electrified network and use its battery charge to travel on non-electrified track areas. Has anyone thought about bringing in this technology to India? This can make OHE lines in Train Maintenance Areas redundant imparting a sense of safety for the maintenance staff.

India doesn't need this technology, our railway network will be 100% electrified very soon, but USA has only 1% electrified railway route, they need it badly.
