Genova is an important seaport in northern Italy, the capital of the Province of Genoa and of the region of Liguria. Filmed using the Sony HDR-HC9 HDV1080i High Definition Handycam.
Citta' bellissima ! I lived in Genoa from 1985-1988 and have a wonderful time. I was a student at Universita' degli studi do Genova. This video have brought back Great memories.
even when i watch this video, i feel like i'm smelling the air of the genova! I've been there in 2008, and i will go for living after a year in Genova.... cos i will start my college studies!
I've not been to Bologna, Turin, Milan, Sicily, Sardinia or Corsica, so I can't give an opinion. Siena is another favourite of mine, so thanks for mentioning it!
Hi Craig! What a pity you didn't visit Genoa so well! With the bus city tour you just saw the "modern" part of the city center not the historical one.... Genova is the biggest port of Mediterranean Sea but not an industrial city as formerly in the sixties, it turned to high-quality/high-tech products: food, shipbuilding, electrical engineering and electronics, petrochemicals, aerospace etc. Genoa's historic centre, one of the largest in Europe and dating back to 6th century BC, is an intricate maze of alleyways (caruggi), beautiful mansions built, in which works of art are visible in several house-museums, architectural styles lay over one another, with a medieval wall base of a 14th-century building and Gothic loggias. Genova is an UNESCO Heritage with its "Strada Nuova" & Rolli Palaces, birthplace of Cristopher Columbus and also of modern-day blue jeans. Genova has to be discovered and what normally tourists say once they do is: "I couldn't imagine Genoa was so beautiful and rich of art!" Craig, this is an invitation to come again and visit the city and Ligurian Riviera!
I´m from México, i was in Génova and i share your point of view, i like Génova very much, this video does not show in any way the beauty of the city. Certainly Roma, Venezia, Firenze are beautiful cities... but Génova is different. Be in Génova, at least for me, was very special, Génova hugs you, is not as distant as the others.
@gluca90 Glad you like it Gianluca! I had a feeling you might appreciate the video, since it is your native city. As far as upkeep goes, yes, the city does have a few rundown streets and areas. Up by the aquarium, it's not very nice, with street sellers begging etc. There are parts of the city which I liked, such as the main shopping street and the old part.
one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Its a sin that is keeped bad by the local amdministratiors ! nice video my friend! I like it , and thanks for posting a video on my native city ! :)
What you saw with the city tour is not anything special, if you want to see the wonders of Genoa You need to turn it on foot. The Aquarium of Genoa is the largest in Europe. You have to see the panorama of the city from the heights of Castelletto, is fantastic. Oh one last thing taste the Pesto and Focaccia. ;) Excuse me if I'm wrong translation.
Il tuo è il commento più azzeccato che abbia mai letto su Genova ! Non tutti riescono a capirla questa città... o forse è lei che preferisce allontanare chi non la sa apprezzare...
There are nicer cities in Italy, such as Florence, Rome or Venice. Genova is a substantial and important industrial / commercial port. It doesn't really have much in the way of beautiful architecture. It serves it's purpose, but doesn't make my list of top places to visit. Sorry to disappoint you.
Such a fantastic city. There is so much life. So much happening at once. It's almost too much to take in.

Como gostei de passear por esta cidade bonita. Parece Salvador, cidade baixa.Amei.
@kellydjelly Lol none of those American muscle cars in Genova! Just thousands of motorbikes and Fiats. Glad you liked the video. Many thanks, Craig
Genova is quite a place, that's for sure! Glad you enjoyed the video.

"И я там был! И мёд я пил! У Лукаморья видел дуб зелёный, злата цепь на дубе том. Под ним сидел и кот учёный. Свои мне сказки говорил."
Each to their own as the saying goes!
my city is beautiful
