Bring on the season!! Vintage pre season Geno, cautious, reserved & underselling his stellar, stacked roster. Azzi & Aubrey should both be back in plenty of time to make major contributions. Once again, if the freakish three-year injury plague has finally lifted, this will be a magnificent Uconn season. I hope she returns for one more, but if this is her last year in Uconn blue, Paige will move mountains to take a Natty with her.
Expectations of this team should be muted and I am a 30 yr fan. This team has no proven big. Patterson & Brady have each only played 1 yr b/c of injury and neither was impressive. El Afy(redshirted) and Strong a true freshmen, both have no college experience. Ducharme will likely be out the 1st time she gets hit, like the last 2 seasons. Fudd will again not play a full season and make no mistake each injury has taken something out of her, she comes back each time more tentative, avoiding any contact, scared to drive, which limits the game that made her good in HS. Griffin won't be back till mid season at best...early January. This is the same scenario for literally the last 4 years, short handed b/c of injuries that persist the entire season or happen during the season, leading to them losing to teams they shouldn't have in the tourney. UConn really shouldn't be ranked as high as they are preseason.

Geno said that his players get injured when they come to UCONN because all they do before they come is play basketball and NOT other sports. It's not a mystery. Many young girls in 6th and 7th grade start preparing to come t UCONN to play basketball. These kids come to the games. They're fans of the women's team.
First, the name’s Nika. Second, have you not noticed how many college (and professional) female athletes have suffered knee injuries in basketball and soccer? It’s been a frightening statistic, and those who are both playing, and who are fans of those sports, are demanding more study to learn why these injuries are happening with such frequency. UConn’s team has certainly been the poster child for injury in women’s basketball the past three years, but other teams have lost key players recently (Notre Dame and VA Tech come to mind). And if you’ve followed the US Women’s National Team in soccer for a few years you’d definitely see an epidemic of both season- and career-ending injuries. I’ve wondered whether women have reached a point in their development where they’re now capable of doing things athletically that their bodies aren’t capable of sustaining over the long haul, without serious changes in rules, equipment, and training. Geno’s team’s injuries are more noticed because of who they’ve been for the past 30+ years, but they’re not alone by any means.
I can't wait for the UCONN season to start!!!!!!!!
