How many hundreds of thousands of tiny rocks and meteorites and/or asteroids could a solar sail withstand, before it's torn to shreds? Between here and wherever, it's not smooth clear sailing.
Actually, space is pretty empty. If you're a solar sail then you're very small compared to the universe. So you aren't attracting meteorites with your gravitational field. You could fly your solar sail without worry because encountering anything would be unlikely. If you do encounter something then hopefully it's friendly aliens willing to help out a hitchhiker.
The fact of the matter is that no physical matter could travel at the speed of light without the right technology , but it's true that the USA government already got that technology and they have spacecrafts capable to interstellar travel
😂 is that not the case with anything traveling through space? What has ensured any other object in space has not suffered the fate of collision? Also i would be willing to bet they can intercept any possible collisions and predetermine the route most likely to avoid any possible known asteroids etc...
Once we perfect this way of travel, we need to catch-up with communication signals. Voyager is just outside our system and already takes 21 hours to receive signals from . We wouldn't know if a ship reached our nearest star for the amount of years we are trying to avoid in travel
Good point. Where I become skeptical, is on the issue of debris and matter in space colliding with any craft. The famed "Force Field" would be nice at such speeds but not yet fully realized. Getting further faster is a priority, but we still need a means of sustainable protection. Amazing time to be Alive!
@@thomascrownrgwhatever object that is going lightspeed would have a shield in a sense. A ping pong ball going fast enough will shatter concrete. That spaceship will obliterate whatever is in its way

It's probably artificial. There are certain words it pronounces that are odd without any good reason considering it is near perfect for the most part. It sounds like it's based on a voice style of the 1930s.
This will never happen. Coming up with a vessel to withstand the heat produced traveling that fast, and the smallest of objects would cause severe damage being hit at that speed
Nothing. The space around the craft would warp significantly propelling the craft forward and thus never smashing into anything. Not to mention the space between celestial bodies is unfathomably significant visually speaking. The craft would be fine unless it experienced an issue in its power supplies or the lightspeed engine fails.
Just a thought it would be a great emence G force on such grand size of space craft and being pushed at 186000 miles per second would take some going and intelligence to get such a craft to do so it reminds me of that film mission impossible to do so anyway ok 😊
Even at the speed of light it would take you 4.2 years to get there and you could not carry that much food and water and nothing can go faster then the speed of light it's be on you reach you can only dream about it
what is tick tac? a warp drive with antigrav also? visual pull and push makes the push pull appear as a tick tac. the inside is balanced by anti grav means no movement is felt so deadly turns and instant reverse couse, fatal in a jet, is not even felt in THE oval tic tac.
Intelligent and practical beings don't travel in outlandish and primitive space ships, they find wormholes and walk or hover through them, it's a lot easier that way!
The speed of light is way too slow to go a long distance in space! Our universe is expanding at a speed thats close to light speed! Folding space, worm holes, is the only way to get anywhere!!! Live long and prosper, SPOCK

The speed of light would put it possible to reach the closet stars but to be able to travel even our own milky way we need to go way faster

Agree. Mass also becomes infinite
Very good observation..... But we cant let ourselves forget about the fact that we (NASA, AIR FORCE, ETC ) have collected

Speed of light 😂 thats so yesterday. Folding space to aim for.
Wouldn't that be called warping time and space?

Thank you for proving time doesn't exist outside of our planet
Don't forget on physics. Einstein was talking about Earth, he wasn't talking about space.
They keep telling us about it but not showing us enough about it 😂
Don't they always?
NASA is so clever. Whose work did they backwards engineer?
Yahtzee
Keep in mind the speed of light is proven NOT to be constant. Just saying.
how is it not (inside the vacuum of space)? when given a medium it varies but still " chooses" the quickest route through.
Space is not empty , one little grain size particle would destroy anything traveling at light speed
not empty, but vast for sure.
Hence the big radar dish looking thing on the Enterprise, the so-called "navigational deflector"
We need to get it together here on earth before we go anywhere else...smdh...sheeesh
💯
speed of light varies as sun, stars pull on light. In starless space it speeds up. does the engine also?
Who is this narrator? His voice is on damn near everything!
It's probably artificial. There are certain words it pronounces that are odd without any good reason considering it is near perfect for the most part. It sounds like it's based on a voice style of the 1930s.
Very interesting, but i cant get over the fact that the narrator bot can't pronounce some words correctly like vehicly, and disireably 😂
Noticed that didn't even pronounce solar right
and next we need to discover WARP speed ! 23-a(g3x97z2)+4.6%= 308xlight=WARP ! lol
I knew that 😁
Advanced propulsion systems will be done through magnetic compression.

That's it, they even said it It would be impossible. With our atmosphere on earth
This will never happen. Coming up with a vessel to withstand the heat produced traveling that fast, and the smallest of objects would cause severe damage being hit at that speed
What happens if at speed of light you hit a asteroid or rock or dust particle?
You turn back into carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen.
Nothing. The space around the craft would warp significantly propelling the craft forward and thus never smashing into anything. Not to mention the space between celestial bodies is unfathomably significant visually speaking. What about stopping at the other end?
Traveling the speed of light isn't good enough. We need FTL propulsion.

The problem going light speed is that you don't age. If you came back to Earth after 4 months, it has passed 400 years! Time dilation!
