She had the most amazingly powerful and beautiful voice the world had ever known. My voice teacher heard her sing live at the Met and as soon as Flagstad started to sing filling the entire space with glorious sound, my teacher started to cry and couldn't contain herself... then she looked next to her and the man next to her was crying too! It was a magical miracle!
The recording I have unfortunately cuts there. I would also have loved to hear Kundry’s big high B that comes about 10 seconds after the end of this clip, but was unable to find a complete recording. That said, I am currently working on cleaning a 1938 version of this same scene which does have the huge B-natural at the end (but with a small cut in the middle). Hopefully you’ll enjoy that, will post soon!

You do know that A4=440 is our contemporary standard, and it was probably lower even in the 50's. There is an interesting video with Piero Cappucilli from a conference on the Verdi tuning, which demonstrates this. My guess is that they may have been around 435 in the 1930's. Tebaldi abhorred the successive tuning upwards of orchestras that occurred in her lifetime.
I did check and A4=439 Hz was standard in 1950s UK where this recording took place. It was a little higher in mainland Europe and a little lower in the US as far as I know. Regardless, the original recording was pitched much higher at A=462, correction would be downwards either way.

But that's just me. There's something about the raw power of wagnerians sopranos that really fascinates me. But you should post whatever you feel like, it's your channel after all.

IMO, Kundry requires more an singing actress than just a dramatic soprano. I haven't heard the full performance but KF seems to be a very fine Kundry.
