I have my share of stories of why I don't sell my beats online either, I might talk about them in a video one of these days. Like you mentioned: having healthy, professional relationships with artists, companies, labels, etc. are what convinces me to continue expanding my growth in music business. I stopped putting out beats and just put them in my own videos now or work on full songs and instrumentals or whatever. feels so much better to me.
Yes, that is the worst! Especially when it's an artist you like. It's like I have this track but can't be excited about it until it comes out. Finding other ways to use the music does feel great.
If an artist uses your music without paying online, It’s likely they didn’t get it from the online store. They may just be inspired by your work and proud of the project you inspired. Your music is from the hood. Learn your client. Keep inspiring.

I only work on pub deals starting back in 2015 for those reasons exactly. Also got sick of some artist I worked with who use their own engineers and they completely demolish the mix of my beat
I've had that happen as well. Another producer and I spent a lot of time putting everything together, when the final came out it was all swapped around. lol

This is why I only sell exclusives. Leases are a big mess and then who’s tracking all them shits? 😂. I found making them upon request and pitching them to up and coming artists I like has been better. Really want to get into syncs, just dont know where to start.
I've thought about that as well. lol That's why when I explain it, I say anyone can lease the same beat as you. If you want exclusivity, you should get the exclusive. An Exclusive only store isn't a bad idea. A lot of people have been talking about syncs. I'm going to do some research on it myself.

STORY TIME I got 2 stories for you guys. IDGAF WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE AS LONG AS THEY PAID FOR IT. Idc if its 5$ or 500$ here is why. a turkish guy hits me up 5 years ago asking for a beat i had om my channel. Of course he didnt want to pay 30$ for a lease. But he was on the turkish version of americas got talent & he was going to upload the song to a turkish youtube channel with 10 million subs. So under the condition they include prod by ottomanbeate in the song title ill send them the tagless beat. They agreed. A week or two later They upload the song on that channel n my name is t in the title. So i message him. He says i messaged the managaer at the channel n they say thats not how it works. But they had a song with the producers name in the title that was uploaded like a week ago. So i screen shot it and send it to them. They leave me on read. Never respond back. So i block him. A week later His butt buddy messages me asking for another beat that he already wrote to, but this time he is going to “ make sure my name will be in the song title”. I agree. But now he wants me make all kinds of revisions to the beat he isnt paying for. So i block his ass too. He then messages me from random girls instagram pages , his friends instagram etc. Begging me. He then goes, if you dont send me the beat ill have someone else remake it and you wont get credited for it at all bc These execs at the channel arent nothing to mess with bla bla bla. I finally go fine, i sent it to ur other friends email bc i had blocked n deleted yours n i cant find it. Have him email to you. But then i regret sending it right after. So then he goes “ohh me and him got in anargument 2 days ago” i dont talk to him anymore. I go, so you dont have the beat? He goes no can you send it to so on so email. I go GOOD, from now on dont threaten beat makers. Now fuck off and go beg someone else for a beat. So fast forward to 2023. The first idiots song barely got 25k views in the past 5 years. On a 10 million subbed channel. Beat part is during the summer i signed up for airbit again and registered everything with content id again. It picked that song up and that youtube channels execs hit this idiot up saying we gotta a copy right strike so either go find the person that you got the beat from and get permission or im gonna have to remove it from the channel. This idiot messages me on IG, saying why did you copy right strike it, u gave us permission, all that hard work is wasted now. So i was like, its not a full strike. I just will make the money from youtubes back end of that song. But i gave you that beat with the condition you put my name in the title. You agreed. Didnt keep your word then left me on read. I had registered it with content id, it must of just picked up now months later. But idgaf if they remove, you didnt pay for it so wtf do i care? You want me remove the strike then go buy the 200$ lease. (200$ is 6k turkish liras. Minimum wage is 15k turkish liras). Then blocked his ass again.

That’s the exact reason why i stopped selling and focused on instrumental albums.
