Excellent cover really well revisited with your own style and touch. Much inspired and talented. Full of poetry and tenderness. A real peaceful and relaxing pleasure to listen. Good for the mind and the ears. Excellent guitar player and singer with a lot of feeling and sense of groove. Big big big like for this fantastic perform and brilliant sharing. Splendid and luminous.
Thank you Olivier, that is so kind of you! 🙏 This is such an iconic song, I didn't want to cover it unless I thought I could bring a different take to it. Your support is very much appreciated!
Ahhh so immediately happy when I saw this was today’s!! Have always loved this song and it translates beautifully through your lens. LOVES: - The shimmering expressivity of this particular strum style. What is that?? Strangely and appropriately it has a kind of shadow-of-clouds, shifting light-and-shade effect. Whatever the chord is that comes at the crest of the crescendo in the characteristic motif, the one that bends away from the tonic harmony… possibly we’ve met before, not sure… but 👌👌👌 - Something about the organic texture and colour of this strum pattern elicits or complements a similar effect in the voice, very natural and deeply felt. Especially at 1:03!!!!!! - I love how SHORT it is! There’s extra punch in the arrangement because it’s so compact! (And you know I love a long unspooling piece as well) All around unmitigated pleasure…
🙏🥰 This almost didn't even get posted yesterday! I'd already put the Nirvana up in the afternoon, and had just recorded a few takes of this to kind of bookmark where I was with it, but when I listened to them later I decided it was ready to go. The little motif at the end of the lines (not sure what the strumming style would be called - it's more of a flourish at that point than anything?) was actually what made the arrangement come together. I've tried this song many times - it's a stone cold classic, of course - but I would always ask myself the famous saying "What are you adding?" The original is in Am, but I dropped it down a bit, and the resulting chord shape changes allowed me to use the same root chord through what was originally a three chord sequence, with all the movement coming on the top strings. I'll try to remember to show you when I'm over this week, it might be easier than explaining it! I also felt like the vocals and guitar really fit together nicely, so I'm glad you hear that as well! It's such an incredibly well written song, pulling intention from it requires basically no work. The shortness of the original is part of the charm, in my opinion, and I saw no reason to mess with that magic! This feels like one I'll come back to as well...
@ We love to hear it! When the vibes are 👌👌💥 This motif where the top changes but the body stays constant is such a mood. That must be where the shifting sense of tension/release drawing away/coming back together comes from
